2014/15 Kit Revealed - #TheStripesAreBack

Strangly, for those reasons you mention I actually prefer the Peru one. Both are fine shirts in their own right mind.

Yeah the Peru one is very nice too. In general I'm just more of a fan of a football shirt with a proper collar than a round neck.

Always found the collars to be a bit fussy and redundant on a sports shirt. Each to their own.

Erm, whelk, what are you doing?! Check out the top of page 15...

Sorry I guess already there? I don't have the stamina to keep up with all the long threads so always aware that I may be behind the times

It would be a great kit though. Where did you see it out of interest?

Someone texted me a pic. Naive old me thought (and tbh hoped) might be credible although clearly see it was a mock up.

Have looked back at this thread and can see I wasn't close to posting breaking news.

And well done. Possibly the only style would consider buying so would have loved it to be true.

Yeah, that's kind of why I knocked it up in the first place, I'm expecting nothing of the sort to actually be released. I'm not overwhelmingly a huge fan of stripes, and i welcome us doing different things so long as the kit looks good and represents something of Saints. Neither of our last two home kits have done that for me.

For those craving a return to the Danish pyjama kit:

Hummel have produced a bit of a throwback for Reims.

Wouldn't get my vote.

Didn't realise that Hummel and Patrick were still producing kits until the last couple of weeks.

Not a huge fan of that Hummel shirt; but I wouldn't mind a full red and white halves shirt as a nod to history. A bit like this, but with white socks:

No, nor me - just put it up for the wider masses.

But yes, I'd go with r/w halves if necessary (although the Keegan kit or sash remain preferences).

The only worry I'd have about the Rank Xerox (which is an absolute classic) is that a modern day equivalent would put a twist on it and somehow f*ck it up.

Just seen the away version of this kit. That'd get my vote. I'll link a pic later.

Well that's tangible cobblers.

Oops. Though I will say you couldn't have known that we'd go "own brand" in January because there was still 6 months to get another supplier in at that point...

Good knowledge though. Oops, I appear to have bumped my original (and now very wrong) kit thread. ;)

Oh - I've got the Yellow one which went with the Light Blue one you're so keen on, and it's fine, EXCEPT it only comes down just past my navel, which because of the voluminous cut of the shirt, makes it very a very draughty wear. That can't be right, can it?

Where has it been proven?

Spain?

Italy?

World Cups?

European Championships?

You're forgetting the 2005/06 season Black/Red sweat-box away shirt ;)

It's proven? Put up the proof that "teams who wear all red strips are more successful".

The yellow one was fine, unless you were Peter Crouch, who had to wear a t-shirt under it.

As for the Red success myth, I have the article bookmarked (though I can't link it on my mobile) , it proves absolutely nothing about successful colours.

Oh, here we go, the original "red is best" article... Except it doesn't actually say that.

http://www.dur.ac.uk/r.a.hill/Attrill_et_al_2008.pdf

I didn't have any problem with that black/red kit either. Slightly narked that the "original" kit thread has been moved though (presumably merged)...

If you haven't read it, don't bother arguing about it.

That's my 3 for the day, so hope the link works!

Works for me. Something slightly exotic about Hummel kits (slightly undermined by Villa having them).

Not for me it doesn't. Better than our last two efforts admittedly, but the white sleeves are too Arsenal for my liking.

Away version is better but again would not be first choice.

No reason why it should be after all it seems to manage for Ajax without it becoming a dog's breakfast.

Revert to page 1

You don't keep to keep banging your drum MLT, you say it's an own-brand kit, fair enough but other sources have said that it could EITHER be an own-brand kit or an obscure manufacturer that hardly any of us have heard of, I'm hoping it's the latter as the quality could be slightly better but it won't really matter either way really, it's just nice to speculate.

You don't need to get anyone to believe you anymore, everyone already does.

Amazing how quickly we've gone from tin pot to a proper club with proper grown up kit and internationals led by inspirational manager back to tin pot again (prospectively)

We've always been tin-pot. Today has just been the start of the natural order reasserting itself.

What proper grown up kit did we have? We spent last season in a strip any Sunday league team in the country could get hold of.

Funny you should say that, I did one for that shirt too; http://www.footballshirtculture.com/fantasy-kit-design/fantasy-kit-design/saints-hummel-home-14-15-23259.html

Just wanted to see what they would look like with the badge and sponsor on. While I absolutely love the Hummel kits of old (my first shirt as a kid), I'm not feeling it now. This is all pretending that MLT isn't right and we're not going 'own-brand' of course.

Not much, just that's it's probably going to be an own-brand monstrosity or from an 'amazing' manufacturer like Legea, Joma, Li-Ning or HS Sports.

i was was told that it was going to be our own brand for a season. Mind you, the same bloke told me the Argie was staying!
