That in itself isn't particularly newsworthy as I doubt any of us care if he retires or not. But it's why he's apparently taking this step of 'retiring from all public life' that is so interesting.

For those who haven't really heard or paid much attention, since December, Shia LaBeouf has been embroiled in a seemingly endless stream of plagiarism controversies. It started when LaBeouf released a short film entitled; 'Howard Cantour.com', which was apparently quite good and received positive critical reviews, but people quickly noticed that he'd blatantly ripped off the work of Daniel Cowes, a renowned comic book author.

Everybody makes mistakes and all that, fair enough, but LaBeouf then compounded this by tweeting the following apology:

You might think that that resolved the matter but it turned out that LaBeouf had actually plagiarised that very apology from a post on Yahoo Answers posted in 2010. (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...6121955AA5dgbh).

On January 1st, LaBeouf then hired out a plane to tow an apology reading; 'I'm sorry Daniel Clowes.'. He got a lot of stick from various actors on Twitter over this and especially from actress Lena Dunham who tweeted that only 'sociopaths' hire skywriters. LaBeouf then had the following Twitter exchange with Dunham:

Apparently deadset on destroying the tattered remains of his own credibility and sanity, LaBeouf decided that he'd plagiarise one of Dunham's own tweets in his apology without of course accrediting it to her. Something which Dunham immediately recognised.

With the worst you would think over, on the 8th of January, LaBeouf then tweeted the following picture of a storyboard from his next short project entitled 'Daniel Boring':

The problem is that 'Daniel Boring' is yet another comic book by author Daniel Clowes and the description LaBeouf gave of his new project is plagiarised word for word from a quote Clowes gave about Daniel Boring, yet again without accrediting those words to Mr Clowes.

At this point Clowes' lawyer sent a cease and desist letter LaBeouf's lawyer so to prevent him from committing further copyright infringements regarding his clients work. Stating that his client is 'out of control.' and must stop before his client is forced to take legal action.

Letter:

Apparently this has now prompted LaBeouf to come out on Twitter and post the tweet at the top of the post. All in all, it has to be the single greatest and most complete meltdown and exercise in self-sabotage that I have ever seen on social media.

If this is the end of his career, then I can only say that it's karma for having starred in Transformers and made millions off of that ginormous turkey of a franchise. I can only hope Keanu Reeves, M. Night Shyamalan and Orlando Bloom follow suit and FINALLY do the right thing and call it a day.

It does appear that he has completely lost the plot. I didn't know about all plagiarisim stuff but I did hear about him head butting someone and it getting caught on camera. I can't decide if he really has gone nuts or if he is just doing the "I'm Sorry" thing as some kind of weird performing art act. I know what would be the point in acting crazy when the world already thinks you are crazy but who knows what goes through the mind of an actor? I laughed out loud when the guy in the first video mentioned not being able to forgive him about the Indiana jones and he didn't even blink haha.
