Ludicrous team selection. Utter madness.

Do we think the club should make their plans and decisions out of what the fans wishes.....like down the road?

I dont buy all this "we didn´t play our strongest team".

We know very little of the physical status of the players and I certainly will never understand this "if you´re on the bench you should be fit to start". A player that is 80-90% fit might be a better option than a player that isn´t as good but you dont want to risk that player unless you absolutely have to and that MIGHT be the case of Fonte, neither of us really know.

The only selection today that I might not understand is why JRod didn´t play, but on the other hand he is probably the player that runs the most in games and have played virtually 90 mins for most games this season so he might be in a position to get a bit of resting because of that.

Lets hope none of our players go to the world cup. You have to, like, play every three or four days.

I think our poor souls would actually keel over.

Dont think I can mention one team that has played the same starting XI in 3 straight games in WC.

Can you?

What? You only want 100% pure facts posted on here? Is that truly what you hope for? No rumours or supposition, ever?

Negative news needs source (incl. home address) + printed, video and independent verification. Challenge is normally "miss quoted" and/or "lost in translation"

positive news is fine and needs no evidence or question. any challenge and "you're a troll"

The SWF hypocrisy managed by our forum clappies

There's aren't any trolls on this forum. Ignore those cretins who suggest otherwise.

Nor mention many prem teams that have a month or so's rest before a busy schedule.

Don't worry about CB Fry. He's an utter tool just not a particularly sharp one.

Only if you name all the teams that make five changes for every match.

Loads of top players start every tournament match, unless you seriously think Hodgson is going to rest Rooney for a WC last 16 match because he's tired...

Are you a troll if you're a bit happy clappy and decry and constantly moan about anyone asking negative questions? I'm just asking, but it seems alike. Not that I'm accusing you, of course, trozzers.

You rank Rooney as Englands best player?

Ok, I´ll call that with Lallana as Saints best, and he started.

Any more of this fun game?

Does he match any of these traits?

As I say, there's no one on this forum that comes even close to this profile... name someone on here who has a persecution complex for example.... You see, it's impossible.

Dear Fried - point to the part of the fixture list where Saints get a month's rest before resuming competitive football.

You're being far too kind to me this afternoon.
I think we could be pals, "trou". We're often on the other side of opinions but that's what makes good buddies, isn't it? I'm far too old, too boring and too tired to have any enemies. I'd far prefer a likeable joust every once in a while respecting the other jouster's opinion. I reckon we could be soul mates in that regard. What do you reckon? Big kiss and then a big f*ck you?! xx

Jesus Christ, Strawlock. World Cups now just a lovely little holiday and no England players or management or pundits have ever put it in the context of being at "the end of a long, hard season".

Okay then, sweetheart.

Did I ever say it was a holiday?

Still a month is still a month, a luxury a thin squad like ours does not have. IIRC this is our 11th game in less than two months.

But keep banging away pal and insisting that a league season is like the World Cup.

im actually more upset with the players than the selection - the defensive changes (davis and Hoiveld didnt make much difference as they were not at fault with the goal.

Wanyama whilst he was injured was the best midfielder in the team - Jack Cork we meant to be a poor substitute - Now Wanyama's back it is a disgrace that he is playing

It wasnt that long ago that Ward prowse was undroppable and the next David Beckham - and the only other change up front was Guly

The fact of the matter our midfield and front men were all poor including Lambert and Lallana - they created hardly anything - kept giving the ball away - looked lazy and unmotivated - didnt close down as a unit - it fact were utter dross.

Where have I said that then Strawlock? Nowhere.

We have plenty of opportunity for delicious precious rest now anyway. How wonderful for us. You must be made up.

I am pretty level headed so won't say I'm fuming exactly, but otherwise I agree. We will finish 7th - 9th this season, so have very little to play for in the league. Our best bet of qualifying for Europe was the cup, plus the chance of glory, prestige, a trophy, and possibly two days out to wembley for the fans. With no game until next weekend what on earth was the point of resting players? I just don't get it. Ok, if they've got a knock, but guly ahead of Jrod? No Morgan? Bonkers.

I am disappointed. I can accept losing, have had lots of practice over the years, but to diminish our chances before we've kicked off is pretty galling, especially when there's no obvious benefit.

I

On the one hand I agree and understand the feelings of most on this thread, however, let's just sit back and think about this, say we went all the way and qualified for Europe; how many believe that we have the depth of squad to compete in the premiership and Europe next season, I for one do not believe we have, on top of that look at the extra cost incurred as the revenue is not that great unless you make the final.

We don't even have the depth of squad to compete in the cups this season. Apparently.

We might have had but the untimely injuries to Gaston and Dejan have left us shorter than short. How can we be expected to compete with Sunderland (who had no game on Tuesday) who have nearly twice the number of senior players available that we do. Realistically our "squad" is wafer thin, right now it's just 14 senior pros (inc 2 keepers) and the 2 good U21s who play nigh on every week. So unless you use the substandard like Guly and Jos what can you flipping well do, players can't play 45 games a season plus internationals without cracking sooner or later and with 16 players (OK add in JWP if you like to make 17) you really hyave no option but to keep on flogging the same old same old until they drop and lose form through overuse. We should never have let Osvaldo go without a replacement, no matter what he'd done he should have still been here until another decent striker came in. Lambert is finished and whoever made the decision to send out Osvaldo needs hanging.

Of course they can, Steven Gerrard for example played 53 games in a season when they won the European Cup, total tripe.

Still not quite getting the argument that ''it was good we lost, and we've come through this unscathed, ready to kick on in the league etc.'

The performance was so bad that it could easily have a knock on effect to our league performances, the players confidence will have taken a big battering today. There's utterly no benefit to come out of us losing this game, not entirely why some people are suggesting there is.

Me neither,

Pochettino is a genius, he plays a weakend disinterested side thats loses which in turn shows his commitment to stay with us and pursue a Champions League spot, the clappers have truly lost the plot, they knew little of football before but did they know anything?

Why pal?

Fried made a fool of himself again.

Our precious petals can't hack 3 games in a week, how are they meant to cope in the WC where that is the norm, so runs Fried's argument.

But unlike the prem, WC players have a month or so to recuperate and prepare. Sunderland was our 11th game in less than two months.

Rather different situations. No?
