Window Cleaner Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Just like I said, Morgan and Jack were both looking dead at the end of Tuesday's game and Morgan was hobbling. Too many games, too few players. Might turn out alright but we'll be lacking their drive and composure .
Nexstar Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Their fans seem to think the team they've just announced is a free passage to the QFs for us.
NewYorkSaint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 No Cork or Schneiderlin. That's biggest gamble, I think. They've been Saints engine for much of the past 2 years. Davis, JWP, Wanyama strong alternatives, of course. And if we're not owning midfield, I guess one or both come in 2nd half. Disappointed Gallagher still out. We'll need JRod on before the 2nd half gets too old.
Matthew Le God Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Sunderland have made 9 changes. #safc team to play @SouthamptonFC: Ustari, Celustka, Dossena, O'Shea ©, Vergini, Cattermole, Larsson, Giaccherini, Gardner, Scocco, Borini #safc subs: Ki, Wickham, Colback, Mannone, Alonso, Roberge, Mavrias.
Bewildered Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Expected Wanyama, Clyne and JWP to start, all good players but Hooiveld and Guly have had enough chances now and neither are at the level needed. Jos especially. Davis + Jos in the same side = may as well add one to Sunderland's goal count now since they will individually do something stupid or combine to cost us.

JoeShmoe Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko The FA Cup is now officially for Premier League reserve teams ... #wtf hard not to agree with this. FA Cup is for the top 4 and Championship teams these days. Sad to see
SNSUN Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Yep, not a great line up. Need Wanyama and Lallana to be at their best today if we have any hope of winning this. Full backs the strongest bit of that team. Hope Rickie has his shooting boots on.
Batman Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 look at their side manone, johnson, colback have been excellent for them and all out
bpsaint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Disappointing starting line-up. Bit of an insult to all the fans who bothered to make that journey today, especially those doing it for a 3rd time this season.
Batman Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Disappointing starting line-up. Bit of an insult to all the fans who bothered to make that journey today, especially those doing it for a 3rd time this season. why is it an insult? we have a squad of 25. the players looked fooked on tuesday
Monk Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 I hope this isn't the second time we shoot ourselves in the foot regarding a cup tie.
Saint_clark Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 F*ck sake. I understand fully the need to rotate, but does Boruc really need a rest? Biggest disappointment for me is having Hooiveld back at CB although after that gash on Fontes leg that's understandable. Good chance for Guly to get a goal but still not in the Prem.

SaintRobbie Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 We've lost. Rubbish selection in my opinion. Does MoPo realise the importance of this game? The tradition of the FA Cup at this club? The fact its the only thing we can win this season? Weak defence - adequate midfield and weakest attack we can currently field. Strong bench but you can only make 3 substitutions. Disappointed. PROVE ME WRONG PLEASE MOPO - PROVE ME WRONG.
JackFrost Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Agree. And any defence containing both Jos & Yoshida is going to be vulnerable. Yoshida's been our best CB since Lovren has been out. If anything I'd have been more worried if it had been Fonte & Hooiveld. That's nothing against Jose, it's just Maya has at least played with Hooiveld more. Jos is League 1 standard at best and him being in the starting line-up in any game for us is a massive risk
JoeShmoe Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 They dont have Johnson who's by far and away their best player and we have Lallana + Lambert - i still think we ought to win Big game for JWP who's struggled to make the step up so far, like to see him be more involved, a bit stronger and not be afraid to go past a player. His crossing, in these conditions, could be a key factor Jos =
farawaysaint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 what is their team? how weak? The Sunderland team thread on Ready To Go is titled "WTF IS THAT TEAM" so not their best then. "It hurts my eyes" one of the posts Battle of the benches it is then
Pastor Patrón Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Appalling lineup, I'll be livid if we get knocked out by Sunderland reserves.
JoeShmoe Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 We've lost. True fan right there. Thats the spirit
Batman Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 We've lost. [/b] Rubbish selection in my opinion. Does MoPo realise the importance of this game? The tradition of the FA Cup at this club? PROVE ME WRONG PLEASE MOPO - PROVE ME WRONG. why? have you seen theirs people call me knee jerk, negative lol i think we will win
SaintRobbie Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Draw at best with this team. 1-1 I'm going for.
SaintRobbie Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 why? have you seen theirs people call me knee jerk, negative lol i think we will win You're right. We'll slaughter them.... COYBs !!!
Batman Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 You're right. We'll slaughter them.... COYBs !!! both teams cant lose http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/%C2%A3-%C2%A3-safc-v-southampton-matchday-thread-%C2%A3-%C2%A3.879265/
SaintSteve Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Looks good enough to me... and we have a very strong bench if things go pear-shaped early doors
BallBoy Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Agree with most posters. This is disappointing. If they can be on the bench then they can start in my opinion. Massive gamble when fans are looking to this to define our season.
Leicestersaint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Disappointing side - who is going to run at them and score the goals? Will Guly prove me wrong? Where is Isgrove?
Saint_clark Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 how do you know boruc is rested? Because there has been no indication of an injury? And he's in the training gallery.
jawillwill Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Jos is League 1 standard at best and him being in the starting line-up in any game for us is a massive risk Maybe not quite up to the PL, but he was one of our best players during our rise up the Championship, don't forget. That said, I'm feeling a lot less confident than I was about an hour ago. Ho hum, at least we might still finish 8th on the league!
bpsaint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 why is it an insult? we have a squad of 25. the players looked fooked on tuesday They're professional sportsmen FFS, we're not the only team to have played Tuesday, plus they've a whole week to recover. I'd be livid if I travelled all that way to find out we'd made that many changes.

JoeShmoe Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 well, they havent had all week have they. 3rd game in 7 days Plus all the travel - which takes it out of you as well
Supersubpuckett Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 a few predictions for this afternoon; jos will score an own goal big vic will screw up a simple pass and let them through to score guly will miss an absolute sitter
InvictaSaint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Honestly, some of the over-reaction on here today. Glad some of you lot weren't in the trenches. No wonder Jamie Oliver hires Eastern Europeans rather than Brits. No backbone...
pangy Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Appaling line up based on what? Jos and Davis, other that that that is still a strong team,Wanyama was bossing games before his injury and Davis has been probably one ofthe most consistent players this season. Guly may not score his share of goals but he puts in a decent shift and is always back defending if needed,to many bedwetters on here imo,if you think we can play with the same 11 all season you need your head checked. Imagine if we get into Europe, certain posters on here will explode with team selections
CB Fry Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Hmmm. At least lets get them back to our place. We can still win this.
trousers Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Decent enough starting 11. Strong bench. COYR!
Scoobysaint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 I still feel quite confident despite the several changes. Unlike all of us on here, the players will have known this selection and been training appropriately during the week. They would have been working on tactics with this selection and formation. I have doubts about Jos but hopefully he can have one of his good games.
scorchio21 Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Awful selection. Playing one of K Davis, Hooiveld and Guly is bad enough but playing all three is unacceptable. Would have been fair enough playing them in the Hull game, but this is our most important game for weeks. Clearly Poch doesn't see it that way (even though Lallana does) and favours going all out for 7th over extending the cup run.
trousers Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Honestly, some of the over-reaction on here today. You sound surprised.... this is the Saints Web Forum.... over-reaction is what 'we' do best....
Window Cleaner Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 why is it an insult? we have a squad of 25. the players looked fooked on tuesday Not even 25, just now we have a squad of 14 fit senior pros (including 2 keepers) and 3 or 4 good young players. When a couple of the regulars are knackered or get knocks we're scrapng the barrel. Still perhaps we'll have Gaston and Dejan available again next week but I feel we've really let the squad become far too small.
Saint Bones Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Looking forward to this..Finally get to watch a Saints FA Cup Game Still a strong spine in that squad with our Fullbacks being able to push up for assists. Strong Bench as well.
Batman Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 makes you wonder how up for this Poyet will have his players he was saying in the week that a draw is worst than a defeat in this game I think he is happy to sacrifice this and use this game as a tool to give squad players a game
FleetCasual Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Who is Clattermole going to injure today?
Saint Benali Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Dissapointed we have not picked our strongest side. Especially as all week people have been saying we should be able to handle 2 games in 5 days. Big gamble for mopo. If it pays off then genious, if it doesnt then will get a lot of flak and rightly so.
Saint Bones Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 a few predictions for this afternoon; jos will score an own goal big vic will screw up a simple pass and let them through to score guly will miss an absolute sitter So we're going to win 3-2 then
