St Chalet Posted 14 February, 2014 Posted 14 February, 2014 If Fonte is out could Wanyama play in central defence and Cork midfield ? I would rather have Wanyama there than the Hooverman. Hooiveld and Yoshida were our first choice for much of last season. He will be fine with Shaw or Clyne / Chambers alongside.
bender Posted 14 February, 2014 Posted 14 February, 2014 Sunderlands team for tomorrow. Just want tomorrow to come round and us safely in the hat for the 1/4 final. http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/guardian-team-for-fa-cup.879032/
dannysfc Posted 14 February, 2014 Posted 14 February, 2014 I hope we rip them apart in the nicest possible way and beat them and not go 2-0 up and draw in the end and am going either a 1-0 Saints or 2-1 Saints tomorrow but we'l see! Also I hope the Saints fans going do us proud and sing loud and proud too as well! COYR!!!
Saint Charlie Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Sunderlands team for tomorrow. Just want tomorrow to come round and us safely in the hat for the 1/4 final. http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/guardian-team-for-fa-cup.879032/ Will be stronger than that IMO. Poyet said so today.
BlakeySFC Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 (edited) My team: Davis Clyne Hooiveld Yoshida Targett Ward-Prowse Wanyama Cork Lallana Rodriguez Guly Edited 15 February, 2014 by BlakeySFC
Dark Munster Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 My team: Clyne Hooiveld Yoshida Targett Ward-Prowse Wanyama Cork Lallana Rodriguez Guly Apart from Hooiveld, Targett, JWP, Wanyama, Guly, oh and not playing a goalie, I agree 100%.
dubai_phil Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Good luck and be safe to anyone travelling up to the game today. Watching Sky News this morning it seems insane that anyone could even get out of the South, certainly by train!
St Chalet Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Apart from Hooiveld, Targett, JWP, Wanyama, Guly, oh and not playing a goalie, I agree 100%. Think Targett played for the U21's yesterday. Shaw will start.
Saint Garrett Posted 15 February, 2014 Author Posted 15 February, 2014 It will be strongest possible team IMO.
positivepete Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 I see Liverpool are playing a full strength team. They have the same schedule as us. Winning is a good habit and not half as tiring as losing
Appy Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Judging by Shaw's tweet last night I assume he will start.
Saint Charlie Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Wonder if Kelvin might start. He has played every other cup game.
Appy Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Wonder if Kelvin might start. He has played every other cup game. Probably, but hopefully not.
Saint Charlie Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Probably, but hopefully not. Echo that. I reckon Davis, JWP and Clyne will most likely start.
Giordano Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Judging by the size and colour of fontes "flesh wound" i think that its unlikely he will play today. I think its going to be jos and maya myself....but there could be a small outside chance of a surprise centre back if mopo wants to try out Bigvjc there...

Olallana Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 No point risking Jos for a Cup tie. Never any point to risk any sort of game with Jos in the team

whelk Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 getting more confident with their predicted line up and Poyet's comments. 5/4 looks outstanding vlaue
Window Cleaner Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 getting more confident with their predicted line up and Poyet's comments. 5/4 looks outstanding vlaue I'm still reserving judgement until I see the teams.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 I'm still reserving judgement until I see the teams. This.
SaintSteve Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 I'm still reserving judgement until I see the teams. Little faith in our squad.. you have
Badger Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 getting more confident with their predicted line up and Poyet's comments. 5/4 looks outstanding vlaue But I'm a little less confident with our predicted line up if it includes KD & Hooiveld.
Lighthouse Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Hooiveld isn't the liability many on here make him out to be. Hooiveld and Fox is the problem, Fox is gone. He played in last season's wins against Man City and Chelsea amongst others. We've put in a few decent defensive displays with him in the team.
Beckenham Saint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Hooiveld isn't the liability many on here make him out to be. Hooiveld and Fox is the problem, Fox is gone. http://metro.co.uk/2013/02/25/whos-top-of-premier-leagues-own-goal-scoring-charts-3514686/ Jos more worrying than Fox imo, Jos worried me even in the Championship. Fairly confident we would have drawn with Spurs this year if not for Hooiveld, and would have had a better points tally come the end of last season if he wasn't so insistent on scoring at the wrong end.
Saint Charlie Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Newcastle away, Spurs at home. Woeful in both.
VectisSaint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Hooiveld isn't the liability many on here make him out to be. Hooiveld and Fox is the problem, Fox is gone. He played in last season's wins against Man City and Chelsea amongst others. We've put in a few decent defensive displays with him in the team. That was last season, this season he has become a liability, although not as much as Fox was. Part of the problem is that it will also force Yoshida to play right, he is much better on the left, Jos cannot play right side, so everyone else has to make way.
Saint Charlie Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 McQueen on bench. Harrison Reed injured.
Ewell Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Disgraceful Mackem. Fill your boots! https://twitter.com/JHerra18/status/434649482937270272/photo/1
Saint Garrett Posted 15 February, 2014 Author Posted 15 February, 2014 From the vid on twitter, doesn't look like Boruc and Fonte have travelled?
Badger Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Apparently definately no boruc in squad RIDICULOUS.
Lighthouse Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Newcastle away, Spurs at home. Woeful in both. So woeful he made one mistake and we drew 1-1 away to (what was) a very good Newcastle side. He did very little else wrong that game, he wasn't woeful. Spurs at home; I told you, Hooiveld AND Fox (and Gazza FWIW)
Saint Garrett Posted 15 February, 2014 Author Posted 15 February, 2014 What the **** are we doing?! No JRod? No Boruc? No Morgan? Really glad I mad this trip!
Lighthouse Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Worse Saints teams than that have beaten much better teams than Sunderland.
beatlesaint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Very disappointed in that team slection.
oldskoolsi Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Apologies if this has been already posted but for some reason my basic Virgin package is including BT sport today so I can watch the game. Hopefully it's same for everyone.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Couple too many changes for me. This. Could cope without 1, maybe 2 of Jrod, Cork and Morgan. Not sure about all 3.
Badger Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Hope both performance and result justify this selection. But initial view is that this is an inexcusably poor team given our league postion etc.
Saint Charlie Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Expected Wanyama, Clyne and JWP to start, all good players but Hooiveld and Guly have had enough chances now and neither are at the level needed. Jos especially.
dan abnormal Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Disappointing. Would have kept Rodriguez and Morgan in Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
Mattio Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Looking even closer to ending our season today then.
ThreeSixty Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Sunderland also playing a weak team don't forget. Im mainly concerned about the lack of ball retention without Morgan/Cork
Colinjb Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Any definitive news on the Sunderland team?
Badger Posted 15 February, 2014 Posted 15 February, 2014 Boluc should be on the bench at the very least. Imagine having to play Gazzaniga for 89 minutes if KD was clattered.
