pap Posted 9 February, 2014 Share Posted 9 February, 2014 In news just in from neutral Switzerland, 50.3% of the voting public have decided they'd like to introduce quotas for EU citizens. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/switzerland-votes-to-limit-numbers-of-eu-migrants-9117579.html The Swiss aren't members of the EU, which is why they can have this vote in the first place, but they've been good enough to sign up for various principles that the rest of the EU follow, the free movement of people being among them. No more. Does this have implications for the EU project itself, or does the Swiss non-membership make the referendum result a non-event?

Saint in Paradise Posted 9 February, 2014 Share Posted 9 February, 2014 I wonder what the result would be IF the UK was allowed to hold a similar vote ? I suspect the vote would be more than 50.3% in favour of a quota.
