krissyboy31 Posted 10 February, 2014 Posted 10 February, 2014 In with the home fans due to cheap tickets though work. Could be interesting.
Dark Munster Posted 10 February, 2014 Posted 10 February, 2014 Personally id make a few changes and give Lallana, Jay Rod, Davis, Fonte, Lambo, Shaw a break with saturday in mind. A loss to Hull means nothing really if we can save players for the cup game. Im sure most would take a loss tomorrow if we can win on saturday. id go for Boruc clyne - yos- jos- chambers ---wanyama---cork---- Guly----------------JWP --------Reed-------- ------Galagher-------- Like. Maybe replace Reed with Adam and Boruc with Kelvin. Full strength for Saturday, of course.
Patrick Bateman Posted 10 February, 2014 Posted 10 February, 2014 The league is far more important than a Cup match, so if anything I would put your team up against Sunderland and play the stronger one against Hull. I hope you are taking the **** and seeking a bite? If not, that is seriously retarded thinking. A day out (and hopefully a win at Wembley) vs finishing 1 or 2 places higher ... jesus christ.

A day out (and hopefully a win at Wembley) vs finishing 1 or 2 places higher ... jesus christ. Remember, this is Dalek you are replying to. So in his head, we're far from safe. Lots of work to do, apparently. We are sleep walking to relegation I think.

We are sleep walking to relegation I think. Right: 1. You are right, we are not safe yet and we need to get to 40 plus points before we can relax. 2. Each place in the premier league is worth a lot of money. We could finish 7th or even as low as 17th, we could even be relegated. That is a lot of money at stake. 3. The chances are we will come a cropper against one of the 'bigger' clubs. So, we concentrate on the league.
benjii Posted 10 February, 2014 Posted 10 February, 2014 I would pick: Borutch Chambers. Font. Yoshida. Clyne Wanyama. Davis JWP. Guly. Rodriguez Gallagher bench: KD, Jos, Targett, Morgan, lallana, Lambert, Isgrove

Saints Charlton/Sheff Wed Cardiff Man C/Chelsea Everton Sheff Utd/Nottingham Forest Arsenal/Liverpool Hull Apart from Chelsea (and Man C away) (and one of those two teams are getting knocked out anyway), I genuinely believe we can beat anyone on our day, and from the 7 teams, 4 of them are teams we could beat , I have full hope....It is the magic of the FA Cup. With a bit of luck you could make it As for relegation. you're joking. what you smoking? Anyways, the revenue and money etc from getting to Wembley (if we do) will surely outweigh money we receive from finishing 1 place higher!
robbo1029 Posted 10 February, 2014 Posted 10 February, 2014 can't believe i'm gonna have to watch that **** Long again...
Saint Fan CaM Posted 10 February, 2014 Posted 10 February, 2014 We will lose 1-3...We've lost the knack of winning by finishing off teams.
Batman Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 We will lose 1-3...We've lost the knack of winning by finishing off teams. Shane long will score
Saint Charlie Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 We will lose 1-3...We've lost the knack of winning by finishing off teams. Cardiff away? Fulham away?
Badger Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Cardiff away? Fulham away? If only we could play teams as poor as those two on our travels every match.
View From The Top Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 If only we could play teams as poor as those two on our travels every match. Won 4, drawn 4, lost 4. Not too shabby by any standard.
dubai_phil Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Yippee. Back on TV tonight so down to Barasti! Boo. Al Jism (sorry Beanywhereelse Sports) had Technical Issues on Saturday and failed to show Chelsea/Geordies or the egg chasers.

Saint_Tony Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Surely Gallagher won't be ready to return tonight? I'm not one for resting players but I'd start Rickie on the bench Boruc Clyne Fonte Jos Shaw Wanyama Schnederlin Guly Davis Lallana J Rod That team should be good enough to scrape a point. If Big Vic and Cork can't play together, I'd rather Cork plays on Saturday. And Tuesday night v Hull = Goal for Hooiveld

Brighton have knocked out Newcastle in the last 2 seasons. I've got a ticket to this game (bton v hull i mean)
Sheaf Saint Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Shane long will score Can I have tonight's lottery numbers as well please?
jasonb Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Hull are awesome at home. Check the stats. They don't concede - probably because they attack. Have to say HOME WIN. Sadly, my gut instinct agrees with you. Then again I've got man-flu so it's touch and go I'll even make it to kick off. As a result, my gut is decidedly off. I would happily accept a defeat tonight and a win on Saturday. If the footballing gods could sort that out cheers
SB Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Surprised hardly anyone is backing us to win this, not exactly an inform side..
doggface Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Confident we will get something, probably a draw 1-1
DT Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Traditionally we're rubbish in midweek games against northern teams most of us think we will beat. Especially when it's hideous weather. Research courtesy of Gutfeel - your unscientific guide to the footie
Window Cleaner Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Surprised hardly anyone is backing us to win this, not exactly an inform side.. Many expect us to field a ridiculously weak side just so that their chances of Wembley days out are optimised.
SuperMikey Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 I'd take a 1-1, although I definitely wouldn't field a weak side like people are saying we should. It would be nice to have a cup run, but ultimately I want that 8th spot.
Minsk Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Just looked at our last 6 results: 1-0 2-2 2-0 2-2 3-0 2-2 Come on Saints, keep the sequence going and give us a 4-0 win tonight!!!! I would then happily take a 2-2 on Saturday and beat Sunderland 5-0 in the replay.

brett24 Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 I would start with Chambers and Ward Prowse tonight for Clyne and Davis, other than that the same side as Saturday. Think we will win tonight, about time Rickie bagged a hat-trick.
dubai_phil Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 I am reliably informed it is "farking snowing" about 100 miles from Hull.
Son of Bob Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Hull will win 2-1. Shane Long will score the winner in the 81st minute.
Matthew Le God Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 I am reliably informed it is "farking snowing" about 100 miles from Hull. Tom Coull@Tom_SFCMedia Blizzard like conditions in Hull this morning. Snow is hammering it down.
SB Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 People saying we don't need to strengthen the squad, then predicting us to lose tonight.. Crazy..
Window Cleaner Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 (edited) People saying we don't need to strengthen the squad, then predicting us to lose tonight.. Crazy.. And then they'll no doubt moan and lambast the team and the manager because we lost. We needed a striker and a left back if we want to maintain our league position and go for the cup but as we seem to be on an economy drive just now I doubt that we had any real intention of signing anyone. I calculated that with the departure of Cortese, sale of Puncheon and loaning out Osvaldo we could in theory have saved about 3.5 million £ in the second half of the season...not bad. Saint Mikey Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Anyways, the revenue and money etc from getting to Wembley (if we do) will surely outweigh money we receive from finishing 1 place higher! I guess it does, but not by loads. You win £1.8m for the FA Cup. It's now about £1.3m a place in the Prem. I know you'd have to add up all the Gate Receipts and merchandise and all that lark, but it's not masses of difference, esp if you finished 2/3 places higher.
scotty Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 can't believe i'm gonna have to watch that **** Long again... My sentiments entirely.

But you get extra TV money from the FA Cup as well (provided you're on TV that is). £247,500 for the 5th round game per club I think, plus a load of extra money for winning in each round. when you add it all up a cup final appearance must bring in about 5 or 6 million more than getting knocked out in the 4th round.

Hamilton Saint Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 @SouthamptonFC: MP: "Today is an important day for assessing the fitness of the players, especially those who made a big effort against Stoke." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: Mauricio Pochettino is now speaking to the written media. Quotes from this section to come at 10.30pm GMT. #saintsfc Well, that was a revelationery press conference... revelatory

Sad Sam Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 No sign of any snow in Doncaster. Rain stopped @ lunchtime and now blue skies. Looking forward to seeing my second away win tonight.

for_heaven's_Saint Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Here's my take on the whole league vs cup debate for shoot magazine (plus a bit on Osvaldo). Any comments welcome! http://www.shoot.co.uk/saints-must-prioritise-fa-cup/
100%Red&White Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Any chance it'll be snowed off?! That'd be a nice result, rest for saturday and play them when Ramirez and Lovren are fit! No sign of any snow in Doncaster. Rain stopped @ lunchtime and now blue skies. Looking forward to seeing my second away win tonight. Weather looks fine this afternoon. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2645425 It's going to be dry but cold. Yes - I would settle for 4 - 0 to us tonight. The last time we won 4-0 Stern John score a hatrick, remember him?!
Convict Colony Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 It would be nice if we could play in decent conditions tonight, get our smooth as slick playing style to mesmerise them before the rickster bangs one in and adam also chips in (fantasy points). Going for 2-0 to us and the gipsyville glue sniffers have a goal disallowed (gipsyville is a real place wear I believe the Mr Bearsy maybe from :-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gipsyville)
Junior Mullet Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 I think we'll win tonight. I know they do well at home and that they've strengthened up front but still, it was boys v men at St Marys earlier in the season. If we play well, we'll win. J Rod to continue his excellent scoring run away from home (when his pace on the counter is really effective). 2-1 Saints.
niceandfriendly Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 We've had a few decent wins over Hull in recent years haven't we... 4-1 this season, 4-0 Stern with John hattrick in 2007, 4-2 Bale freekick... oh god that was in 2006. That's 8 feckin years ago. Not so recent after all. It's half midnight here in Chiang Mai, sat out on the balcony with a beer, all to be heard are the crickets and an owl. It's going to be a late one. The peace will hopefully to be disturbed in just over 2 hours with loud cheers for a Lambert hattrick or similar.
niceandfriendly Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Jack Cork hat-trick, 6-0. Just stuck fifty quid on that. If it comes in we'll split the winnings. We'll never work again.
Bewildered Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport 1m Hello from Hull Tigers 30 mins til #saintsfc team news - hope Davis & Rodriguez have shrugged off knocks- i think Chambers could start Chance Davis and Rodriguez might not be fit for the game it seems
eelpie Posted 11 February, 2014 Posted 11 February, 2014 We have to start positively, all guns blazing, not pitter-pattering about like against Stoke, which gave Stoke the opportunity to take the initiative. We mustn't make that mistake again.
