Why are injured/squad players not given u21/reserve games?

Seriously

Wanyama was clearly in need of a game to dust off the rust before getting back to the pace of the premier league.

Im sure Jos would benefit greatly too as he maybe needed sooner rather than later.

used to be common practice to do this, but not anymore.... Wanyama could have cost us the game on Saturday.

why do we not do this these days?

Theoretically, it goes someway towards regaining fitness, but is playing at U21 level really what we want for " recovering " Prem. League players?

Everyone seems to make a big thing about the first teams' " bonding process ", and stepping outside of the "pack " might not be a good psychological move, and could undermine those lads who normally play.

I noticed that several former players (now departed) had " run-outs " with U21s (Tadanari Lee, Barnard), but that was an effort to give them match practice and perhaps a PR thing - to help get " noticed ".

We've only had two under 21 games since 13th December, the last one was over 2 weeks ago on 20th January.

Pochettino probably feels its better for Wanyama to be training with the first team during the week rather than the development squad.
