paulwantsapint Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Who honestly believed when Rickie signed for us in divison 3 that he would get 100 league goals for saints including over 20 in the prem Congratulations to the southampton goal machine
kpturner Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Terrific buy - best bit of business the club has ever done perhaps? Struggling to think of another gamble that has paid off so handsomely - and £1m was a gamble no doubt. Well done for coming up with an interesting thread amidst Glasgows tedious thread fest by the way!
S-Clarke Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 You will never, ever, ever see £1m spent as well again.
Dr Who? Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 He paid for it, with his goals in gaining promotion from league 1, let alone the championship promotion to the big time. It seems that the momentum is still in the right direction even though I thought it might be derailed a little. Safe by the end of February.... Never heard of!
pap Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 What a goal as well. Lovely team effort; "made up" that Lambert hit his milestone.
beatlesaint Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 You will never, ever, ever see £1m spent as well again. This. Still amazes me that some fans just cannot see the passing, vision and link up play he brings to the team. The only issue with Lambert is when he doesn't play or has been injured it takes him a while to get up to speed......altho he didn't do badly today after a couple of weeks out :-)
mitch01 Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Gets endlessly written off on here. He may not be our number one man anymore but he is still a great option. Some of his lofted passes wide today were great, and he took his goal superbly.
Kingsland Red Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Congratulations to a Saints legend. Awesome game today with assists for both other goals.
Mallagroth Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 As usual he sticks one up his doubters. I make that 8 goals and 9 assists? Now the Ossie cloud is gone, more to come i reckon...
Under Weststand Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Take a bow Sir Rickie Lambert, he has simply been supreme for us. He has answered every question that's been asked of him. I doff my hat to you Sir.
WealdSaint Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 A true saints legend He deserves his place at the top of the page with all the rest
mulletsaint Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Can't understand some of the grief he gets on here, absolute club legend. Hope he get's his wish to end his career here. Well done la.
Saint_Tony Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Can't believe how many have been writing him off in recent months. Congratulations Sir Rickie on a great achievement. Biggest club legend since Le Tissier
Viking Warrior Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Saint tony and mullet . Total legend . I think that those on here do it deliberately to wind us up . If it's not Rickie it's someone else . I notice a small minority were knocking both J Rod and Adam in the first half .
SaintSteve Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Absolute class act... vision, passing and a goal scoring machine all in one... may still get to Brazil.. who knows
Asaint4ever Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 I think I love him more than le tiss. :-(
Mallagroth Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 I think I love him more than le tiss. :-( What will you do when he scores the winning goal at the World Cup...
Saint J 77 Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 (edited) Today's goal for Lambert got me thinking, would he still have been here to score if Nicola was still here? We heard the stories of him wanting to go to West Ham, was it true? If so was it Rickie who wanted to leave or was it Cortese wanting to ship him out? Either way I'm glad he is still here. Really chuffed for Rickie today. A true Saints legend! I hope that is the first of at least the next 50 for us. Edited 1 February, 2014 by Saint J 77
Delboy Dave Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Can you imagine if he scored the winner in the 89th minute in the World Cup final? That would be enough to make me cry!
Bewildered Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 http://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/2/Seasons/3853/Stages/7794/PlayerStatistics/England-Premier-League-2013-2014 Up to fourth in the assist table after today too. Only Rooney and Ozil have created more goals
Mallagroth Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Can you imagine if he scored the winner in the 89th minute in the World Cup final? That would be enough to make me cry! He would literally become Sir Rickie Lambert and that would probably be about what he deserves.
Pastor Patrón Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Was great to see him back on form today, hopefully he can carry it on until the end of the season because him scoring for England in the World Cup would be an obscene way to crown his career.
Strangely Brown Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 (edited) What a legend, the best value for money purchase I would reckon Saints have made. Now, attention Saints Marketing and Merchandising team, can we have a DVD of SRL's 100 League goals please? Edited 1 February, 2014 by Strangely Brown
corky morris Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Well done Rickie & thank you very very much!!
Chewy Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Cry? I think I'd probably cum. great achievement by a truly great saints player. I do think his best (and more mobile) days are behind him, but he still has a role to play. Thank you rickie.
Smirking_Saint Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 Has been a phenominal player for us over the years, deserves being in the banner, deserves the worship he gets. Legend
Asaint4ever Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 What will you do when he scores the winning goal at the World Cup... Hunt him down and do naughty things to him :-)
dronskisaint Posted 1 February, 2014 Posted 1 February, 2014 One of the greatest rises in modern times - credit Pardew who bought, NA who developed his game and Poch for giving him a new dimension and the staff for getting him Saints fit. So pleased he was our story, I salute the man ...legend!
mitch01 Posted 2 February, 2014 Posted 2 February, 2014 Would be brilliant if he ended his career with us. He has been one of the main reasons why supporting Southampton had been so much fun the last few years.
doddisalegend Posted 2 February, 2014 Posted 2 February, 2014 Well done Rickie saints legend. People seem desperate to write him off all the time but I still think he has a lot to give yet.
paulwantsapint Posted 2 February, 2014 Author Posted 2 February, 2014 Rickie Lambert now has a new role to play for saints as mentor & taking young Sam Gallagher under his wing Think it will give him another new lease of life Next challenge is 6 more saints league goals to have scored more in a saints shirt than in rest of career or 7 in all completions
Smirking_Saint Posted 2 February, 2014 Posted 2 February, 2014 Well done Rickie saints legend. People seem desperate to write him off all the time but I still think he has a lot to give yet. Certainly looked much better in the attacking midfield three yesterday I agree. I think playing the lone striker in our system asks too much of him though
david in sweden Posted 2 February, 2014 Posted 2 February, 2014 yesterday.... 2 assists and one goal ......(that pass to Rodriguez was world class) ..... .....Who said we should sell him because he's past it?
saintchris23 Posted 2 February, 2014 Posted 2 February, 2014 When he signed from Bristol Rovers, I didn't have a clue who he was and instantly wrote him off as being over weight, slow and not the sort of signing we should be making. How wrong. Top, top player. Still slow and annoys the crap out of me for pulling wide and often being behind the play, especially when counter attacking BUT he's been an incredible signing for us. Congrats Sir Lambert.
Saint Garrett Posted 2 February, 2014 Posted 2 February, 2014 Saints legend. Really want him to finish his career with us,
red&white56 Posted 2 February, 2014 Posted 2 February, 2014 I still remember when he scored against us in the FA Cup, playing for Bristol Rovers. It's been a great story and one that I've been proud to be part of. I missed most of MLT's career as I lived abroad for 17 years in the days when there was no internet. So to watch another legend develop has been a real priviledge. I just will echo some of the comments from other posters - his support play is excellent and a joy to watch. The pass to J-Rod yesterday for his goal was even better than I first thought when I saw it again on MOTD.
davefizzy14 Posted 2 February, 2014 Posted 2 February, 2014 Absolute class act... vision, passing and a goal scoring machine all in one... may still get to Brazil.. who knows Absolutely. My favourite player and made up for Rickie he has got 100 league goals for us!
ottery st mary Posted 2 February, 2014 Posted 2 February, 2014 Thank you Mr Lambert. Not only a gentleman....a true legend.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 2 February, 2014 Posted 2 February, 2014 Love Lallana's comments on him in the Saintsplayer interview. He clearly loves him as much as we do.
dronskisaint Posted 3 February, 2014 Posted 3 February, 2014 Hopefully this link will work Excellent - thanks for that!
