Just booked my tickets for the game on the telephone booking line.

I inquired as to how many tickets had been sold and was told that somewhere between 17000 and 18000 have been sold so far. Not bad!

is that 17-18k sold + season ticket holders???

That is pretty bad considering the price. Real shame it's come after some awful results. A win in the last 2 and this could have been a huge attendence. Christmas games are great, no-one wants to be shopping the last saturday before christmas, it's cheap, and we desperately need a win and big support.

Hopefully there'll be a big walk up. I'd really hope for at least 22k for this one.

Trouble is Adrian, can David Luker and his team cope with a big walk-up after the budget cuts? The last thing we need is the IT system to crash and people who fancy the game on the day waiting 2 hours + in the freezing cold? Glad I've already got mine.

I was talking to a die-hard Forest fan last night in the queue behind me to see The Who last night at The O2 Dome in Greenwich. He was saying everyone up there in Nottingham is talking about this game & how important it is for them not to lose it. Seems they (the club & fans) are already eyeing this game as a 'must win' for them...so they're "coming prepared" apparently. This is (by all accounts) their most important game of the season. Let's hope we see it as the same!

Let's hope JP throws his bizarre tactics book away and reverts to 4-4-2 and sets us up to get at Forest. Let's get some width at long last and some crosses in, only Holmes and Skacel seem able to cross a ball. Never mind the tippy tappy stuff, we MUST win this game.

Wasn't Wotte quoted recently at one of the fan evenings as saying that at home we effectively play 4-3-3 and was backed up by a couple of players attending?

thankfully they like to pass like we do and don't have a big target man to expose our weakness. They are made for us and we are going to destroy them. Well that's what I have been telling my brother in law who's a Forrest nutter. Unfortuntaly he's been to SMS a few times with me and knows where we are poor and has written to Calderwood with his recommendations.

This is the game of the season for me. If we lose its going to eb a bloody tough old xmas.

I wasn't at those events but BWP and McG have been used as wide forwards/advanced wingers for some home games. It hasn't been particularly successful as both players tend to come infield and clog up where Lallana plays and I'd rather see us get in behind Forest. With our good headers of the ball on loan we can't just float crosses in but I'd like to see us drive efforts across the face of goal and attack the second ball if we can't beat them with height. That way, you bring Surman into play as well if he gets forward.

True, they rely on shorter pacier players like Earnshaw and Tyson. Our defenders may find that easier than a lump like Kuqi but we really have to get stuck into Forest in midfield and exploit the fact that they have even less confidence than us.

after two debarcles we need to see a performance like at Reading where we jumped all over them early doors. I suspect our confidence has taken a sizeable hit this week. Time for players like Lallana, McGoldrick and Robertson to step up to the plate.

I think we need to get stuck into them to create the space for Lallana. I wish we had a natural RB as Cork would be my pick to be the DM to disrupt Forest. Mills at LB and Skacel LM so we get some decent distribution. Not sure who I'd play up-front but I'd play 2 as we need the points, toss a coin and see which 2 from 3 you'd get from McG, Robertson and Pekhart.

Given the striker options I think we'd have more chance of winning with no-one up front.

should sign up Benali to go up front, he will be more of a threat then DMG! Just maybe not to the goal....

Seems to me, we play 4-6-0 most of the time and none of the 6 on the wings.

hmmm...tough one really. Surely the pace of those two will destroy the likes of Perry and Pearce, meaning Cork may have to drop back to defence as he is a bit quicker. Although we could really do with him in midfield.

Tyson is lightning fast though. Is he fit at the moment or in the team? I've no idea but I did see them play a few times in League 1. If we defend high up the pitch we'll done with balls over the top all day long.

nah they will play Ernie with the nipper they signed for £1.15m from Carlise (name escapes me) who has hit a bit of form having only just got in the side after an injury.

We bought our tickets before the last 2 dismal displays luckily, as they might well have put us off. Even with cheap tickets for the match it's an expensive weekend, so I hope the lads buck their ideas up and give us fans something to cheer about before xmas.

You have just identified our major problem. A headless chicken with no wings.

Me and a few mates are going on the day i would of thought 2000 would buy on the day or friday night i think like people have said if we got a draw at burnley and beat sheff w we might have 24-25k there this is are biggest game if we lose i will lose any hope of staying in this league if we win we should be safe after the xmas run in which we have teams like reading who i think will beat us.

I rekon were get 21,000 maybe 21500 would that make the club more money then the average of 15-16k with ticket prices higher ?

Have to say... Earnshaw ALWAYS scores against us... grrrrrrrrrr

Mind you, he also missed an open goal in 2004/5 when WBA were leading 2-1. One his goals that day should have gone down as a Blayney o.g, so lazy was Blayney's effort, he just pushed a snails pace header into the back of the net. Blayney was really a one save wonder, I'm not even sure if he's in the game anymore, he was Sullivan's back up at Donny last I heard.

Think he's now the keeper at Ballymena in N.Ireland

Latest is 28,000 sold

Where did you get that from? 23,00 is great as it was only 17/18 on friday.

I guess 28,00 ish should turn out, considering there will be about 1,500 forest tickets unsold.

EDIT: Just seen that forest have sold out of their initial 2,000 and are getting 500 more tickets from wednesday

From the TO, although I did post again saying the Echo says just under 23,000.

Also Forest have sold out of their initial 2,000 and are getting 500 more tickets.

How can we be heading for a crowd of well over 25,000? I thought cutting prices didn't result in more people going to the match?

I think you may be getting confused with beliefs in respect of secondary revenue

Manchester Utd tickets and lots of kids and friends. The price of tickets can't be cut often or maybe again, or there would be a lot of season tickets handed back, especially over 60's and under 16's at a fiver on the day.

If it was a regular occurrence my two would go back today.

Quick question, I may have missed it elsewhere! Are the corners being open? If they've sold 23k already and expecting something like 28k, it would suggest so.

The corners only hold about 1,000 ish, so......

32,000ish stadium minus 4x1,000ish corners = 28k ish

Posted
Most definitely not.

I said that you never know who might, as we don't know the ability of people that haven't had a chance yet, but that anyone suggesting they would for sure, or relying on them to do so was fairly foolish.

I also said Saga scoring a couple last season didn't mean he would be bad this season, and he could score a lot if given a chance, and that John and Rasiak wouldn't necessarily score 20 just because they had before.

At no point did I say that anyone would definitely do anything.

The key word is could. Any striker could still get 20 goals for any CCC team this season. I would be amazed if any do it for saints, but it's possible. I didn't like players being written off before they'd played, but it's equally stupid to say they'll definitely be able to do it. Is there an opposite to writing off? Writing on? No.

On another note, since when did 20 goals in a 46 game season make a striker good? Seriously. I recall several getting 30 or more in this league. God, there used to be quite a few on 25 or more in the 38 game premiership. 20 goals in this crappy league and suddenly you're worth loads. Or like Nugent, 15 goals or something, and 6m quid. Awesome.

He doeth protest too much methinks...

I thought we were told at the begining of the season that the capacity with the corners closed was 26k. This also includes the corporates and there's no discount on corp packages and therefore I can't see there being any more in there than usual.
