Fitzhugh Fella Posted 30 January, 2014 Share Posted 30 January, 2014 Pat Parker, Saints centre-half between 1951 and 1959 has sadly passed away on Tuesday 28th. He played 145 games for Saints and despite being a Devonian remained in Southampton after football. The last time I saw Pat was the summer before last when despite being in a wheelchair he came to West Quay for one of Terry Paine's "Suited and Booted" signings. He was so pleased to see his ex-playing colleague. A lovely approachable gentleman, my thoughts go out to his family.

judgey Posted 30 January, 2014 Share Posted 30 January, 2014 Sad news. As a boy / teenager I lived in the next road to Pat and his family. My brother was a friend of Pat's son. We managed to get Pat to take training with our football team a couple of times - he was brilliant, a natural coach and a very lovely man.

derry Posted 31 January, 2014 Share Posted 31 January, 2014 Good centre back, coached the youth and scouted. I might be wrong but I thought he played for and managed Cowes. RIP Pat.

9-3 Posted 1 February, 2014 Share Posted 1 February, 2014 A lovely moment when Pat arrived in wheelchair and caught Terry Paine's eye at Suited and Booted launch.

spyinthesky Posted 3 February, 2014 Share Posted 3 February, 2014 Yes you are right Dave,he tried to get me to go over and play for them.Lovely bloke.RIP Pat. I remember playing against Cowes when they were a decent Hampshire League team Pat Parker was an elder statesman centre half. Quite lanky if I remember correctly and, as mentioned, a real gentleman. Think Cowes played in red & white stripes at the time RIP Pat
