OK here's my list based purely on merit...no agenda apart from my age.

Charlie Miller (contribution to world football)

Arthur Dominy (Southampton man 392 app 155 gls, manager during WWII, Supporters Club steward)

Ted Bates

Terry Paine

Mick Channon

Ron Davies

Nick Holmes

Matt LeTissier

Adam Lallana (love him or hate him you can't write him out of club history)

Ricky Lambert

:uhoh:

I'm unlikely to take the opinion of someone on Saints history if they "mug off Rickie Lambert with a Y" as it was so eloquently put on here once.

Lallana's achieved exactly the same as Schneiderlin, fwiw.

Jose Fonte baby. If ever a man deserved a place on the banner it is him. Like Rickie he has been with us since the dark days, pushed on to the next level each time the club was promoted and was eventually rewarded with an international call up. Unlike others, he resisted the temptation to desert what some saw as a sinking ship (even though there were undoubtedly godd offers being made to him) and showed great intelligence in assessing prospects here in a period of radical change.

He epitomises the fighting spirit in the club, the tenacity, the loyalty, the 'no short cuts' approach and continues to give 100% every game.

If a champions league club had come in for Fonte, he'd be gone too.

Dropped a division to join us too, a very underrated player who seems to step up to a new level every time he is asked to.

Fonte should be as big a legend as Ricky IMO.

I don't think RL should be afforded legend status until he retires. He was a great player for us but he now plays for lfc.

I think there should be a player included from the last Southampton team to finish 2nd in the Top flight.

There already is, but the wrong one in my view. Peter Shilton is there from that team, Nick Holmes should be there in his place.

I know I'm going to get slaughtered for asking this, but who is he?
I think its the chap who flew that dodgy aircraft that crashed straight into the ground after take off. It was made of bolserwood I believe.
