bender Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Could have been worse. We should get at least a draw there. Clear favourites IMO.
bpsaint Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Winnable, if we take it serious.
colman1860 Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Pretty good draw, actually. Sunderland are beatable, and a lot of big teams will knock each other out, while small teams are guaranteed to move on to the last 8. This looks promising. UpweySaint Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Not happy, Sunderland always seem to drag out a result against us lately and a long away day for the fans. Oh well it is a decent chance to go through and more big guns likely to drop out!
InvictaSaint Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 On the plus side , if we CAN beat them, one of Man C or Chelsea and one of Arsenal or Liverpool will go out, which can only be good :-)
Micky Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Awful tie, getting kicked out of both domestic cups by a side struggling to stay in the league. Sunderland have been a real pain in the arse for us this season. Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk

stockportsaint Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Great draw - we can beat them if we put out a decent team. With VW back in midfield we'll be less porous. More importantly two of city, arsenal, Chelsea & Liverpool will go out by the 1/4 finals. I wonder how warm the balls were?
Chewy Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Could be better, but could be a lot worse. It's certainly winnable, and we owe them big time.
S-Clarke Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Pretty boring draw, but incredibly winnable. They are such a crap side, still confused as to how we've not beaten them as we're a gulf ahead. Good chance to get to the quarters.

Window Cleaner Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Look on the bright side, if you've got a week off you can do a Hull+Sunderland away double header with a few days in some northern wasteland in between, Cleethorpes or Harrogate or something. nta786 Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Good draw. They are not great, are focused on the league primarily and if we win theres a good chance of another decent draw. Hope we go full strength for this. We've said this pretty much every time. They're our bogey team. Our draw may not have been the best, but generally it is all good for us because two of the big teams are going!

sydenhamssocks Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Should have finished them off in the first half last week. Will do them this time and get a home draw in the quarters !!!
Sour Mash Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 Having booked up for the original League Cup date, then did the rearranged game, then had a nightmare on the train getting up there last week could do without yet another trek up there. However, it it winnable, we do owe them one and the draw means a lot of the bigger teams will be knocked out. Would imagine Sunderland will be focused on Wembley and relegation survival. bender Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 (edited) We let them win in the league cup game. Surely they can return the favour. Besides, they've already got their Wembley day out. Also, none of their players will want to pick up injuries for that final 2 weeks after. Edited 26 January, 2014 by bender

scorchio21 Posted 26 January, 2014 Share Posted 26 January, 2014 It's not that bad a draw. We showed how we can completely outplay them at theirs just last week, but obviously just need to sustain that over the whole match. The loss to them in the league cup is hardly comparable at all, we'll be taking this way more seriously for several reasons - bigger competition, we have very little in the league to play for, and they still have lots, plus the league cup final.
