Osvaldo

13 games.

3 goals.

3 yellow cards.

Missed 6 games through injury, illness.

How many games could he miss through suspension?

Said when we were linked in the summer that we should avoid him at all costs - the guy is a complete liability and his tantrums at Roma proved that.

Have no idea why we wasted so much month on him - just beggars belief

Why when we look back and say it was a mistake to sign a foreign import and bought an English player with promise the stock answer is a sarcastic one suggesting players like Lee Trundle or Kevin Nolan?

One thing is for sure the the players we have bought and who have been a success are the ones who have grown with us from the lower Leagues and the ones who have played in British football before we signed them.

Lovren? There are no hard and fast rules, you win some, you lose some.

Who is your favourite current saints player mate?

You suspend an employee during an investigation to prevent any prejudice during. I'd say the two weeks is because of this, rather than a punishment. That comes after.

Possibly, though I don't imagine the investigation will take long. Plenty of players will have seen what happened.

Lovren of course a success, a blinding success to be fair. My favourite player, I dont really do that stuff, a player I appreciate is Steven Davis for his workrate and commitment.

Er..

jesus, no-one is supposed to do that to Glasgow, he says whatever it is that needs to be said to appear contrary (you know like the arguement sketch). It is absolutely not on to ever recall anything that he's said in the past which doesn't not support his views on any given day. I mean I could have picked him up on Billy Sharp yesterday but didn't because well...I couldn't be bothered, he is a troll, tolerated by the board administration for some reason only known to themselves.

I disagree. I don't think he is a complete liability. I think he is a so far unrealised asset. I think he's a good player, just not done it for Saints so far. His fee was relatively cheap actually for an Italian international number nine. If propensity to throw a tantrum is your key marker you would never be recruiting the likes of Zlatan, Tevez and Suarez would you...its not the existence of that characteristic thats the problem, indeed it can be a useful one to have for some player - its the ability to channel it into results. If you throw wobblies but dont back it up with class play and results, sure you look a muppet. Hes not backed it up hardly at all at Saints so far hence he is being (probably rightly) slated here oin this thread ~ but theres enough in his history to say he can do so. Besides he looks like Captain Jack Sparrow so my daughter thinks he's cool and hence saints and football is cool too. So back off. :-).

Great player, excellent talent, clearly a nutter. Get rid after World Cup puts his value through the roof.

And pick Gallagher on Saturday.

You got 1 out of 3 right; he's a complete nut case, but he is not "an excellent talent" nor a "great player".

he was one of the worst signings in our recent history and clearly disruptive.

Was he the first choice Italian centre forward? Or is he more of a selection along the lines of Lambert, Sturridge and Defoe ie of no one else is about he gets the nod.

The more I hear about the Osvaldo incident, the less I think it is possible for him to play for #SaintsFC again. Players aren't happy.

You'd have to think that's him done here and were as well to move him on for a much as we can in January

Therein lies the problem. Who would offer us our money back after this, and previous, incidents? We would have to sell him on the cheap.

Another view is that this is gross misconduct and results in instant dismissal. But then his contract is terminated and he is a free agent.

Either way, we are going to have to take a hit. (no pun intended.)

I don't think we can move him on for anything in January, best we could hope for is a loan deal to one of the italian clubs that are supposed to have been trying to obtain that from us (don't know how accurate those reports are though). However we have weakened our hand in that by suspending him so publicly just now. Any potential loan suitor will now know that we're pressed for time as there are only what 8 days left in the TW. As we wouldn't seem to have anyone to negociate such a deal anyway then all we can do is go crawling back to any club that actually made us an offer and get as much of that as remains now as possible. I'd have hushed it up at least for a couple of days and tried to negociate quickly with any club still interested.

I guess it depends if any other authorities need to be involved?

Yeah, maybe. Don't know how it works.

He's quite clearly got immense talent. Look at his record in La Liga and Serie A. His only footballing problem has been adapting to English football, which he hasn't done yet and might not at all. He might not even get the chance now! It would be a shame if he left but if he's upset the squad there's not much you can do.

Can I select who we buy?

Tom Ince straight away, Ings again depending on how much, would love to see Drogba finish his career with us but unlikely at he has signed a new deal at Galatasaray.

Ings !!!!, good job you dont select for us IMO. What about that lad at Ipswich who is banging them in, McGoldrick.............same type of player.:) Not sure about Ince, if he has the same attitude as his father he would be no good.

Clueless as usual. Players like Didier Drogba would never ever dream of playing for a club not involved in European Competition in a WC year. We are untouchable to that category of player and will soon become untouchable to some of our actual players who have a bit of ambition. Lallana, Lovren, Shaw and Schneiderlin gone this summer, count on it.

Ouch - if this is true a broken nose could be the case and Fonte will be off some weeks - or wearing a silly mask....

Times reporting Osvaldo headbutted Fonte after a dodgy challenge, Pochettino and staff say it and contacted the directors straight away....(whoever they are?)

Well Barry im sure you know who the first choice Italian Centre forward is, His name is Mario Balotelli and he always scores penalties and never smiles when he scores, that's his trademark thing to not do. If Mario is fit and not suspended for fighting someone then he starts. So Dani is NOT the first choice, no in answer to your question.

If Mario is not playing then usually it would be Dani instead - if Dani is not suspended for fighting someone. The other main forward is Giuseppe Rossi but he got badly injured again in a fight :-). Other than them three its either old players which i personally don't see Prandelli bothering with even if they know how to score and can play however he wants (De Natale and Gilardino) or what you might call inside or second strikers even wingers: players like Giovinco, Insigne, El Sharaawy, maybe the new kid score 4 the other day for Sassuolo cant remember his name. These are all like little players- no good in a fight really :-).

Going rate for one of those is double digit millions for most top ten International teams in world. Dani is no different but because of his size we get a better chance of winning the punch-ups.

Lovren, Wanyama, Schneiderlin, Boruc and IMO still Ramirez.

You won't get any logic or consistency from dune I'm afraid though. He probably truly believes one signing has any bearing on the success of a future one. As if all serie A players or foreign players are somehow linked to Osvaldo. Footballers are individuals, you'll get good, bad and stupid ones from anywhere.

You didn't read what I put down did you? Go back up and read again young man.

It wasn't the bloodbath some are making out & Osvaldo did not use a sword (?!), but it does raise big questions over his #SaintsFC future.

lol @ the suggestions of a sword anyway!

Hopefully Inter rekindle the loan bid.

Dani Osvaldo’s future at Saints has been plunged into uncertainty, after the club’s record signing was suspended for allegedly head-butting José Fonte in training.

The centre back suffered facial injuries during Wednesday’s incident, with some blood understood to have been drawn.

The damage is not serious, though, and the defender was at the club’s Staplewood base, as normal, for training yesterday.

Saints decided to take the strongest course of immediate action available to them by suspending Osvaldo, who they accused of a “breach of conduct”, for two weeks.

A fine also looks likely for the Italian international, with two weeks’ wages – believed to be around the £120,000 mark – the most severe punishment the club could dish out in that regard.

While Osvaldo is the subject of a disciplinary process, Saints see no reason to take, or even consider, any action against Fonte.

Surely we have to sell Osvaldo now,he got involved at Newcastle and now this, he has become a total liability. These incidents over ride his ability, which we have seen in far too little flashes any way.

Unsaleable, loan until the summer and then hope he has a good WC is our best option. Wouldn't get a bag of ready salted for him just now.
