Just want to say that I hope Dani and Fonte have sorted it out.

I used to play lots of sport when in the army, and things like that happen, the strange thing was that most of the time, it brought players closer. When I say that, I mean sometimes tension is worse, us blokes are great at moving on after a bust up. In a sense, here we can see what MP's management skills are like.

I believe that Dani will stay, and I also believe that he will play a big part when back. COYS

Here is some insight into what may have happened, don't know if this information was posted earlier, but could not read the 13 pages of mostly member infighting, not sure what to think about the Ossie/Fonte bust up. but I hope they can all be professionals and get on with winning games.

"Why is everyone so quick to blame Osvaldo? He may have threw the first punch but who's to say it was him who instigated it? Apparently Fonte had some pretty harsh, unwarranted, words to say about Dani, behind his back, which if true, would have fully deserved a punch in the face."

"My girlfriend works as catering staff at the training ground, she didn't see what happened, but saw the aftermath and saw Fonte and Osvaldo talking and shaking hands as well as Fonte admitting he'd gone too far with what he said. The players were talking about it like it was nothing and it isn't going to effect anyone beyond suspensions. Sometimes things like that happen and everyone is happier afterwards, much the same as having an argument with the Mrs."

"Everyone is fine, no injuries apart from Fonte's split lip, it is being investigated by the club though, so it's probable Fonte will get a suspension too"

"There is a hell of a lot more behind the Fonte/Osvaldo thing than anyone thinks. Fonte had been niggling at him a lot during training and made a comment along the lines of it being lucky Osvaldo had his suspension as it kept his pregnant girlfriend from sleeping around. let's not be so quick to put all the blame on Dani because their isn't one man who wouldn't stand up and defend their wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/whatever if that was said about them."

"There is not tension, the daily echo says osvaldo isn't liked and automatically it's becomes gospel, he's quite a popular figure actually and the dressing room understand what's happened and it isn't going to affect anything beyond Osvaldo's suspension and Fonte's likely suspension."

"Apparently, according to an eye witness, the incident, which took place on Wednesday, happened during an intense 11-a-side training match between members of the first-team squad.

Osvaldo and Fonte had been niggling at each other during the practice match, and the situation came to a head when the former took umbrage at a particularly robust challenge.

Osvaldo immediately confronted Fonte in an aggressive manner, sparking a nose-to-nose argument between the two.

But before players could separate the two, Osvaldo left his team-mates 'shocked and furious' by aiming a head butt straight into Fonte's face.

The impact immediately drew blood from Fonte's face; the pair grappled before team-mates launched themselves into the brawl to separate them.

Fonte is understood to have sustained a black eye and a broken nose, but those injuries are yet to be confirmed.

Pochettino immediately suspended the training session to deal with the aftermath of the unsavoury clash, which has seen Osvaldo suspended for two weeks by Southampton.

The incident has seen Osvaldo's already low popularity among the the Saints squad plummet to rock-bottom."

Some of this, if true, does put a different slant on things but I guess the key questions still are a) has Dani reacted in a way that is grossly worse than what Fonte was doing and b) if there was more to this than originally reported, what is the true extent of his popularity (or lack of) amongst the other players and staff and does it preclude him from playing for us again?

So on the one hand we have a guy who stepped down a league to sign for us, who has been nothing but class and professional since signing, who has been with us all the way on our remarkable journey, who let a previous manager screw his wife (joke), who has never acted too big for his boots, or given anyone any reason to think he's a billy big bollards.

And on the other hand we have a bloke who has punched team mates at least twice, who just got himself suspended for getting involved when he had nothing to do with it, who has been pulled away from confrontations a couple of times this season, who runs off when we lose with no acknowledgement of the fans, who was hated by the fans of his last club and who plays like he's doing us a favour.

I know who I think is to blame.

I hope the whole of SMS give it one big "Jose Fonte Baby" if he plays tomorrow, cause he's one of us. That Carlos Kick-a-ball aint.End of

Who really cares? So what there was some handbags at training.

Regardless of what's said osvaldo should be disciplined to take it.

If he can't then he's a liability on the pitch . And off the pitch as proven here and at most his other clubs.

He smokes like a chimney and is not cut out to be a saints player.

Nobody knows what fonte said. Who cares.

Think that's the last we will see of dani

No big loss

If he hasn't scored his one worldy most would want him out anyway.

Yes or does in today's game I'm afraid when fitness levels are so high! Its also not a good image for kids to see there heroes puffing away .

Did regarding the image part fair enough for boruc to smoke I spose.

But what a totally pathetic statement that it means nothing for a player to smoke! Idiot!

1/4 of UK population smoke.

Do you think 1/4 of the players in the premier league smoke?

When arsenals Wiltshire was seen out smoking he was seriously reprimanded and fair play.

Clause smoke yes, and done Charlie and weed etc so I guess you think that's exceptable?

Claus would play matches with chewing tabacco under his lip also !

What would your opinion be if all our players were smokers?

Not sure I understand the hostility towards Osvaldo. Would he be getting dogs abuse and told to **** off home if he had 10 goals in 13 rather than 3? The fans ought to let the dust settle and see how quickly the players forgive before hounding him out of town.

He should be getting stick. Head butting a team mate takes things too far, the players obviously don't seem too keen on having him back. Out of interest, how many times would you accept such actions from him before you would think enoughs enough? Edited by Sour Mash

The way I see it is if Fonte forgives him then we have to forgive him,he has made a massive balls up and he no doubt knows it,he is still a Saints player and as fans we need to support him,he still has a massive part to play for us and on his day can win us games the last thing the club needs is for the fans to force him out.

not sure what Fonte hopes to gain by posting that pic either.

Hardly paving the way to a reconciliation with Osvaldo

Being hard after the incident to Put a stop to rumours he was squiniying like a little girl and asking the other boys to sort out Osvaldo.

If he stays then maybe this could be a turning point, fans simmer as Ossie eats crow and then comes back to stick a load of goals away.

By the end of the season he's a hero and everyone is going on about what a fantastic signing he's been. It happened with Artur so it could happen with Ossie.

I just hope a way can be figured out to keep him in the fold, we paid a lot of cash for him and we've only seen glimpses of his fantastic ability.

Fitzhugh out of interest. . If dani was a union member how would you as a union rep defend him . Surely the unions, PFA etc would do their best for their member

With out knowing the facts would he warrant termination of contract or a final written warning ?

I used to know what the disciplary process was under Lowe . But the club would still have a code of conduct that needs to be followed . There is a due process to be followed and while some on here well lots think he should be sacked there us still due process to be followed and no doubt his representatives union or other will do their best to get a compromise agreement in place to a ion going through a formal disciplinary process . His suspension in employment terms does not necessarily infer guilt but what has been Saudi so far suggests he has been some what foolish but innocent until proven guilty

I do not think he should be sacked or off loaded at this time.

There are two sides to the story...particularly the lead up to the assault.

From what I understand......regardless of provacation........Osvaldo should NOT have retaliated.

He has been suspended under the club rules.....rightfully so.......but was Fonte totally innocent or was his niggling and foul play? from what I understand:rolleyes:

Fair play or WUM or something more sinister?

I believe....that it was nothing more than a heat of the moment...non event that should have been nipped in the bud much earlier...

Maybe Osvaldo did not realise he was being wound up/played etc....maybe he is unhappy etc....

Whatever the speculation and half cocked stories or lies from some of our usual suspects/WUM/ Willie winkers:mcinnes:

I do not know the answer to all this myself.:p

SO

Does Osvaldo want to go or was even leaning towards the alleged calls from Milan , Juventus etc. prior to this recent set of incidents.

If he wants to go....then Loan trade or if possible sell....ASAP

IF it was the nothing more than a crocodile handbags incident:blush:........ that has happened many times over the years....even at Saints:)

IF the players want him to stay and he wants to stay....the club can sort it out:)

Leaving from my HQ in sunny Devon......Sat in block 35 for a change...my usual seat in block 37 is unused:mcinnes:

So I may even see the mighty Saints from a different perspective:rolleyes:

NO chance......we are the Mighty Saints...World champions and will win today...5-1........hopefully:D

COYS:)

You are right head butting a team mate is well out of order, but I don't think it's possible to conclude that the players want him out of the club. They may well do, but the only people saying it are fans that know very little about the incident. I just think some fans calling for him to be booted out are saying it because things haven't gone quite as well as they hoped on the pitch.

The way I see it, Osvaldo has already had his second chance after getting suspended for his actions against Newcastle.

Can't wait for the **** to leave.

what, players get sent off? that is them on last chance saloon at the club?

that is why supporters needs to stay the fuk away from running their clubs

Why should he have got involved against Newcastle? He wasn't even one of the players on the pitch at the time.

If he's accepted back into the squad (highly unlikely) after this then I predict it won't be long until he get's suspended again. I was amazed it took him until December to get suspended.

I represented plenty of people for crimes very similar. It was always my duty to do my upmost to save their jobs and the best way was - if they were guilty - was for them to admit their guilt, apologise sincerely, make financial reparations like offering to finance any dental work and basically beg forgiveness with a promise of never doing it again.

Depending on the manager and the amount of provocation involved plus hopefully a clean record, one or two kept their jobs but lost rank etc.

As far as I can see Osvaldo has shown little or no remorse, he has history and I wouldn't bank on him not doing it again. Plus we have the situation where his colleagues seem to have turned their back on him. He has no future whatsoever at SMS. He knows it, the club knows it and my guess is he has played his last game. To do what he did so soon after his violent conduct charge at St James is ludicrous and let's remember up there it was not even during the hurly burly of a match but his actions had an element of pre-meditation. The guy's a nut job and if he was allowed to stay could seriously undermine the great team spirit we have engineered over the last few seasons.

Because the brawl was off the pitch and Newcastle staff instigated it but he was sitting closest to it and probably stood up for his team...?

is our day and age of electronic media everything is so simple that there's no reason for not doing it. People complain when they get sacked or dumped by text message or on a Skype call and yet an electronic apology is OK . Why someone could even mock it up on his behalf, apparently it's a very straightforward thing to do.
