Southampton have appointed a little-known Austrian football agent to their board in a bid to beef up the club's beleaguered management team.

Josef Lenhart, was introduced to staff at St Marys yesterday – and is likely to be given a wide-ranging remit to support the Premier League outfit following last week's shock resignation of former chairman, Nicola Cortese.

Was appointed to DMWSL 613 LIMITED and SOUTHAMPTON FOOTBALL CLUB on 20/01/2014 - but had his directorship terminated on the same day.

He's an Austrian agent. Is he completing the board line-up?

Had heard there would be three new faces. Williams? Krueger and... Lenhart? Or is he simply acting as an agent for KL during this process?

Was told the board would comprise... Williams, Reed, McGlinchey, Krueger + A N OTHER?

Any ideas?

He is the first appointment made by Katharina Liebherr, since she took over the role of executive chairman in the wake of Cortese's sensational walkout.

“We don’t know much about him as he was only introduced to us yesterday,” club spokesman, Simon Williams, told SportsDirect News. “I believe his role is largely going to be advisory – but it will be defined properly over the course of the next few weeks.”

Quite why Lenhart has been asked to joined the club is unapparent, as his CV is hardly gold-plated. The 53-year-old is a former Austrian league footballer, who played for LASK in the 1980s.

In recent years he has been a football agent, and has a small portfolio of players, plying their trades in Europe’s second and third tiers. He also does work for a Liechtenstein-based charity called Football Is More, which aims to support and help disadvantaged youngsters growing up in crisis areas around the world. The charity is supported by a wide-range of organisations, including Liverpool.

Once again it all sounds very wait and see although it seems to be an attempt to install a maximum of germanophones at SFC.

The proof of the would be pudding will be in the would be eating.

Klinsmann the next manager then...

Hmmm, this bloke looks to have dubious credentials.

Perhaps you picked up on this phrase on the other thread:

Southampton have appointed a little-known Austrian

being unknown to date, is not a problem, but seeing 'little' & 'Austrian' in the same sentence might strike a chord...

On the face of it Lenart and Krueger look to be odd appointments. However as long as we get a good CEO I guess it doesn't matter very much.

They don't look to be odd appointments at all, a germanophone appointing germanophones to tell tales and control the controlables. That was the crux of the issue wasn't it, control ?

I just think she could have got advisers / board members with a bit of a stronger track record. However who knows, maybe they are long standing friends who she trusts.

Yes what we really need is someone with a track record - obviously in the English game - we dont want someone with those fancy dan foreign ideas. Simon Jordan/Harry Redknapp/Terry Venables would be my dream team (CEO; Manager, DoF) with maybe Peter Ridsdale in there to ensure financial probity.

Alpines finally got into the inner circle then, expect signings galore the day after every TW opens

If we're really in need of someone with a track record, integrity, then Rupert Lowe fills that role. You must be out of your head to suggest Peter Ridsdale or anyone of his background. Let the woman complete her work, before nit picking every rumor or bit of gossip. She's doing fine by me and she's moving very fast indeed.

Good idea.

Having got rid of someone who was I think by most standards was successful, but alienated a few along the way, replace him with someone who was, I think most would agree, unsuccessful and alienated everyone.

That would be real progress.

Who suggested Ridsdale anyway? Nobody on this thread that didn't have their tongue firmly planted in their cheek.

Bit about Lenhart that explains why he is being appointed (if he is still going to take the job

He enjoyed a long playing career, including a spell with Wacker Innsbruck in the German Bundesliga, before founding his own sports management company in 1988 in the shape of Sporteo International Sports Management AG.

So then, I've not time right now to go into all of the guff about this bloke, has he been appointed to the club or not, some seem to think he was and now he isn't.
