Wang Jianlin looking at 175m takeover of Southampton according to Sunday Mirror

Got surnames of 3 of them.. Kruger, Hofsetter and Lenhart. Could be family/friends or anyone though, no idea.

Initial googling suggests to me tax consultants, possibly auditors.

Or possibly characters from popular American sitcoms.

Good grief, this is getting silly.

Peter White ‏@peterwhite_1 22s

Just in case anyone is interested I'm on Talksport tonight from 7.0, talking about Saints situation. #saintsfc

Peter White is the guy who wrote the article in today's Mirror. Maybe he will clue us in on where he heard this rumour?

I missed the old takeover threads! The excitement, the wild theories, the bull****, the earlobe analysis, the general fun and games and the arguing amongst the usual suspects!

Good to see those Halcyon days have returned!

And in case anyone is interested, Paul Allen's yacht continues to be in Hamburg.

@peterwhite_1: “@bigadamsport: I'm informed that Cortese-Chinese consortium #saintsfc takeover story is well wide of the mark”source mate?

@bigadamsport: @peterwhite_1 different to yours obviously, but one I believed enough to tweet that - who was yours?

@runtherainbow: @bigadamsport apparently common knowledge with the Sunseeker employees for some weeks source one of my business partner a with a Sunseker

@bigadamsport: @runtherainbow well I may be wrong but told by people in contact with club's hierarchy that it's not been on agenda or discussed

So just to see if I understand this. The take over article in the Mail(?)was based on the journo knowing a bloke who owns a SunSeeker yacht who was told by the guy that sold him the Sunseeker yacht that all the employs at Sunseeker know the ins and outs of a deal that a Chinese business man who owns Sunseeker is planning .........

No. That is some Random from Romsey, not the Mirror reporter.

So Blackmore's source wasn't Cortese... who would have thought! People in contact with the club's hierarchy = the media team??

Adam Blackmore stated that the his source was in touch with the club hierarchy where he has been given the impression that a takeover has not been discussed. This doesn't mean they will or won't sell, nor that there isn't an interested party. So really it doesn't tell us much other than perhaps that if a takeover is potentially in the offing, that it isn't something that the club is aware of or working towards at the moment.

Dont talk such rubbish. CB Fry says that Adam's contact is Cortese and CB Fry knows everything.

Cortese isn't part of the club's hierarchy anymore, HTH.

Probably the same person who rang FB . If NC did return I sense there will be a job vacancy pretty soon

If Cortese was planning something, the one thing you can guarantee is that the staff at SFC would know jack sh!t about it.

To be honest I'm not bothered what happens. If anyone was to buy the club chances are they are going to have a decent amount of cash. If the Leibherrs want to keep it and hire another CEO - great. If Cortese comes back with a super-rich owner - fine.

Adam Blackmore@bigadamsport8h

I'm informed that Cortese-Chinese consortium #saintsfc takeover story is well wide of the mark

FM Saints Researcher@MatthewLeGod2m

@bigadamsport If a bid hadn't gone in but Wanda planned to in the future how would your contact know? All they'd do is deny a takeover today

Adam Blackmore@bigadamsport1m

@MatthewLeGod correct, you're right

FM Saints Researcher@MatthewLeGod52s

@bigadamsport I'm not saying the Mirror are right. But your contact doesn't appear to have told you anything that denies the Mirror story.

So he doesn't actually have evidence it is "well wide of the mark" and he agrees with me as such. It may well be well wide of the mark, but he doesn't have any evidence for that.

this story has substance and credibility

heard about it thursday

have enough info to write the story or would not

source is very much ITK and has connections with both saints and dalian group

Believe NC has been approached, this is not just a spat with the owner

NC is an astute man and would not just "walk away"

Talks will take place between KL and dalian group

wont do KL any good what so ever to sell anyone of note, will only devalue to the club

Dalian group VERY interesting in buying up UK assets

other journo in studio

saints are NOT worth £175m

story set up by KL to serve he own interests to spark a bidding war

chinese wont come in for saints, simple as that. never ever, Not this man who is very close to the government in china

saints only worth £120m MAX

KL is definitely a seller

it will NOT be this man to buy the club

southampton are a fabulous football club but suited for american owners

wonderful support base in the south, could easily increase their ground

Has no one stopped to notice that the rumor started when a member of this forums SUGGESTED a potential new owner, by linking him to the area?

The rumour was going round their ship yards on Poole Quay before it appeared on here. My lad works there and he mentioned it to me before MLG's thread started.

it is funny how they think that we are worth 120 m and not 175m, the person can pay the 120m is hardly going to shy away at the higher price, they would obviously negotiate but people who can play around by buying a football club for over 100m does not see money as a deal breaker Edited by OldNick

Personally I'd like to see someone with the Liebheer family name see our project through - In all this gushing and pant wetting about an internet rumor it seems quickly forgotten who brought this club out of some very dark days.

Like who ? There's Mrs and the two girls...the rest don't give a toss because they've largely enough to do with whatever it is they do with cranes, dumper trucks and freezers. If any of them had been remotely interested Cortese would have been outta here a couple of years back, not to mention last May. Cortese ran from his desk at SMS all of what remained of the empire up until last October, now what does that tell you exactly ???

If NC gave a toss he'd still be there in the same analogy - thing is no one knows its all speculation and most of the info is second hand , putting 2 and 2 together from Google researching . Any one with a sense of journalistic back ground could form an opinion based on Google .

But it seems to have been the case from day one that KL has wanted a "Premium" price for the club. Otherwise we'd have been bought by muppets by now.

It may well now be WORTH 120mil. But let's face it she doesn't need the money so can afford to sit on the asset. As a negotiating tool the longer it is left the more risk to an interested party that some assets would be sold but she would STILL want the same price.

Fair piece overall on talksport. Summary

Nobody in the studio was convinced

Club not worth 175m, partly because of the impression KL is desperate to sell

120m probably more like it

would be a good investment for someone with deep pockets and a willingness to develop the club

Agreed selling of prize players makes no sense as it would devalue club to buyers

don't really see what you mean there. NC was appointed by the late Markus to run everything. Something has changed and he's gone to seek pastures new but it doesn't mean that the other factions of the Liebherr family are any more interested than they once were. That's why the club currently has no CEO, just an owner who's filled the breach at the last minute.

I once spent an interesting drive up to Doncaster listening to Leon Crouch's explanation of the Tommac/Paul Allen takeover.

I was staggered how, based on very little evidence, Tommac was able to convince the board at the time there was something in the story that Allen was interested and even managed to fleece them for more than a few grand.

Like all Saints fans I desperately wanted the Allen thing to be true but at the time, when I think of all the hours I spent on the forums waiting for the final announcement that our club was rich and yet at the end of the day it was all based on a con man and a very naiive board, then I am going to be truly sceptical about this story. One thing I know when it comes to football clubs being for sale every Walter Mitty, tyre kicker, nutjob and fantasist comes out of the woodwork. And even if it is true I am not sure I want it to happen, especially if it means the return of the bully.
