I like this bit.

"He has arrogantly acted against the Gospel that once made Britain 'great' and the lesson surely to be learned is that no man or men, however powerful, can mess with Almighty God with impunity and get away with it for everything a nation does is weighed on the scaled of divine approval or disapproval."

That'll be another moron mistaking "great" for "fantastic", when in fact, the thing that made GB "Great" is Brittany in France.

No its not, its one councillors views.

Unless you're saying that one councillors opinions reflect the whole party. If so you would have to say that Margaret Burke's Nazi views in Milton Keynes are "labour for you"

UKIP do seem to have more than their fair of looneys (unless the other parties are better at keeping theirs quiet).

Not seeing how you're thinking there Pap, perhaps my history is not all it should be though. Britain comes from the Roman name for the province (where they indigineous Celt population spoke Brittonic) and they got the word from Greek I think. In fact I think that Britons from the roman province of Britain went to what is now Brittany and called it accordingly. Before our lads and lasses went and took over the place it was known as Armorique.

I believe Pretannic is an even earlier term. Regardless, my point was that the "great" in Great Britain comes from the comparison between Brittany ( Bretagne ) and our place ( Grand Bretagne ).

The "great" part has bugger all to do with the Bible, and more to do with basic size comparisons.

As a percentage of Labour Vs. ukip councillors i would imagine it about 0.01% Vs. 10%, but as an aside, you are all mental, right?

It is for this particular fella. It is a little bit different when the madness goes all the way up to the party whip...and every leader before Farage. Our Nigel is trying to make UKIP a serious political party, and he's struggling to flush out these characters.

As I've said before, we operate on a 30 minute news cycle. I'm always interested in what gets editorialised for public consumption.

True.

But, you have to admit UKIP have form for these sort of comments. Off the top of my head the "Women are sluts" and "Bongo Bongo land" comments spring to mind, and both happened relatively recently.

They are picked up upon as these are people trying to convince us they are decent choices to represent us at local, national and european levels, and to make decisions on our behalf using their judgement. I would suggest that someone that makes these comments in public doesn't have great judgement.

I also think if this was some old Etonian Tory backbencher/Peer this would likely have been picked up too imo.

You ever wonder why this is a story? Why does this deserve the level of public attention it's getting?

Because we need to keep being reminded that in this modern world there are still bizarre people like this - people who still believe in an Old Testament-styled Creator who would adjust the weather in the UK in order to punish the entire country because of a minority group's sexual orientation.
