Seriously man up. So this is a lower point than being relegated to league 1, in administration? This is a lower point than having Ryan Smith and Forecast in our team? This is a lower point than Lowe's second coming? Seriously, man up fella. We're in the top 10 of the premier league with one of the best young english sides around. We lost a CEO and a player who has been crap for us is on his way out, big deal. We're still owned by the same people, which some seem to be ignoring. I'm starting to look less and less at this site and hate what its become.....I should have known better than to hope! If we're honest, even if Cortese had stayed with us, we're a 8-10 side at best. We're in a funny situation, our start to the season excited a lot of people but it was pretty evident that we were in a very false position. Where we are now is where we are realistically and we've probably hit a bit of a glass ceeling. If we wanted to ever achieve that far fetched CL dream, then we'd have needed a new takeover as KL would not have funded to that extreme. But I still think there's plenty to look forward to, but you've got to realise that we were always going to have a bit of a downturn. In football...you cannot have 5 years of non-stop success and expect it to carry on, you need to expect a bit of a dip at some point. We're probably having that at the mo and it may well go on for another 12 months or so, but I think the foundations at the club are strong enough to ensure we're OK. People are crying about Cortese leaving, and saying the club will now implode. Surely that doesn't speak a great deal of NC's abilities? Built on sand and all that? He was better than that and we are on a very strong footing.

I have the same credentials as you supporting the saints , but the events over the last 2 weeks are seriously trivial matters . There have been very low moments in the past which were far far far more depressing . We still have a club in the up . One man does not make the club . I was disappointed nc left but I am buoyed by the fact we still have excellent folk running the club and nobody us about to leave . Ok I know some folk want dani sacked . My love for saints will never diminish all though I do get mega hacked off with the some of the constant negative drivel on here . Moan moan moan . But I have a coping strategy now . We are on course for our highest finish in years, playing some of the best football I've ever seen from a Saints team and people come out with this stuff. Compared to the last ten years these recent events are nothing. We don't realise just how good we currently have it. If we reached the FA Cup final then presumably all these who had "lost interest" would immediately come out of the woodwork.

Compared to the last ten years these recent events are nothing. We don't realise just how good we currently have it. If we reached the FA Cup final then presumably all these who had "lost interest" would immediately come out of the woodwork. But the thing is James we've not too much idea whether that's going to be our swan song for a while or not. Most have gleefully accepted the rather patronising open letter to the fans. Some haven't though because they thought we were on an upwards curve for a few years to come now and they are fearful that we might just sink into the chaos that reigned between 2004 and 2009. I can well understand Barcelona's view of things and that he was bold enough to express them on the forum. I can well see good players leaving this summer and being replaced with inferior ones, I'm used to it, like Barca I've been following Saints for too many years to be fooled by the contents of an open letter. I want to see actions before I make up my mind, perhaps he does as well.

John Boy Saint Posted 25 January, 2014 Share Posted 25 January, 2014 Very nice Viking. i did just have to step back outside to check the sign above this thread to see that I walked into the Yeovil thread and not the Depressed Saints Fans support group. That said if you live away from Southampton the media reaction to last weeks events was quite something, and being in Barcelona they would without doubt have had more than their tuppence worth in the press, you just had to look on here to see the amount folks with a lump of cement tied to their ankles stood on the parapet of the Itchen Bridge. Cheer up Barcelona. should be a good game today Yeovil can relax without the fear of losing points, so should give it go an keep us on our toes. I'd be a lot happier if I could sense that the club were trying to sign a decent CB in what remains of the window though..oh and a striker because Dani ...well he's finished here, leaves us with just JRod and the tiring Lambert who may or may not be more focused on the WC than the rest of Saint's PL campaign. Took me back to 1976, as a youngster I think my Mum fuelled me for every round - bar Bradford away - on a fully cooked breakfast. Bit older and mindful of cholesterol I have vowed to limit these now to FA Cup days only. Anyway I'll settle for a 3-1 Saints. Like Ottery I suspect Gallagher to play some part. doddisalegend Posted 25 January, 2014 Share Posted 25 January, 2014 Well I'm going today and looking forward to it. The Burnley game was great fun so I'm hoping for more of the same cup game football today. Put out a strong team and get a good result, the league is done for us this season anyway, the cup is the only thing that holds much interest now IMO. I expect saints to win this well even without Lovern, Gaston and Osvaldo available. Is Victor available again now? As for those suffering Post Cortese Trauma you need to get over it. Winning the PL, being in the CL and a full 50,000 seat stadium were all pipe dreams that you bought into. Saints are still in a great position for a club of their size and life goes on enjoy what you've got and stop lamenting what you never had. Well yes, and no it isn't, used to be quite a little centre of industry actually although I don't doubt that that's mostly been delocalised by now. There was Westland Helicopters I think and an arms manufacturer although I'm not sure how well known that was, guidance systems for ship to ship missiles rings a bell...long time ago. What do you expect with the team that we put out on that occasion? Burnley are a good side, knocking on the door of the PL , Yeovil aren't that good as the 20 or so places and 25 points between them in the CC table would tend to show. I was just pointing out that shortening odds don't mean something is more likely, they are just reacting to betting patterns. For example I am probably about 20,000/1 to get Jenifer Lawrence into bed. If a load of people started putting big money on it, the odds would probably come down to 1,000/1 but it doesn't mean it's any more likely. Also it's against Premier League rules to sell a player and loan him back immediately.
