ottery st mary Posted 24 January, 2014 Posted 24 January, 2014 Turnbull or Stephens to get a chance v Yeovil.
buctootim Posted 24 January, 2014 Posted 24 January, 2014 I'd agree with this. He was decent last year, and I was very surprised he found himself behind Hooiveld as backup. Most on here rated him above Fonte before MP came in.
Turkish Posted 24 January, 2014 Posted 24 January, 2014 Most on here rated him above Fonte before MP came in. Most on here rated Forren above Yoshida and Fonte without ever seeing him play.
Ohio Saint Posted 24 January, 2014 Posted 24 January, 2014 Most on here rated Forren above Yoshida and Fonte without ever seeing him play. Maybe he was better. How can we know?
Turkish Posted 24 January, 2014 Posted 24 January, 2014 Maybe he was better. How can we know? that he's no longer here and those that saw him play said he was gash.
skintsaint Posted 24 January, 2014 Posted 24 January, 2014 Maybe he was better. How can we know? He would most likely still be at the club. Strange signing that one.
Winchester Red Posted 28 January, 2014 Posted 28 January, 2014 Can't do linky things but Lovren has just tweeted that he'll be back sooner than we think
lickierambert Posted 28 January, 2014 Posted 28 January, 2014 Lovren has just tweeted that he'll "be back sooner than you think" perhaps the ankle is healing quicker than expected?
Saint Garrett Posted 28 January, 2014 Posted 28 January, 2014 Didn't look as bad as Gastons and rumoured to be 4 weeks. Personally think he'll be back for West Ham.
Lazlo78 Posted 30 January, 2014 Posted 30 January, 2014 So Danny Rose got a red last night for taking out Dzeko after touching the ball. I think it was the right decision from the ref, because Rose took away a scoring chance as his touch didn't clear the ball. But it just underlines how lucky Brown was to escape punishment from a quite similar incident... Edit: I see it's got a thread of its own: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?48834-Rose-red-card#.UuoTWT15OQA

Ewell Posted 4 February, 2014 Posted 4 February, 2014 Lovren is back running again... http://instagram.com/p/j_psMVhtL7/ That looks like an anti gravity treadmill so he won't be full weight bearing on his injury.
JackanorySFC Posted 5 February, 2014 Posted 5 February, 2014 I struggle to put into words how much I love that man's attitude! Massive signing for us both in terms of ability and attitude, clearly rubbed off on Fonte and probably others. Genuinely wouldn't swap him for any other Premier League CB.
supergoose Posted 5 February, 2014 Posted 5 February, 2014 Great news. One of our best ever signings.
Minty Posted 5 February, 2014 Posted 5 February, 2014 Great news. One of our best ever signings. I'm usually pretty cautious making statements like that about players, especially when they've been here less than a season, but IMO there is no doubt he is one of the best centre backs we've ever had, and if he hangs around for a few years, would be right up there amongst the best signings we've ever made.
Deano6 Posted 5 February, 2014 Posted 5 February, 2014 That looks like an anti gravity treadmill so he won't be full weight bearing on his injury. Don't they all use those anyway? Sure I saw a video a while back where everyone was running in a setup like that, not just injured players. May have been pre-season vid tho and they were just getting back to full fitness?
Matthew Le God Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 Lovren and Ramirez doing ball work this morning...
Lets B Avenue Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 Lovren and Ramirez doing ball work this morning... "Sorry, that page doesn't exist!"
Matthew Le God Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 "Sorry, that page doesn't exist!" Well it does for me.
trousers Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 "Sorry, that page doesn't exist!" Works ok for me
Tokyo-Saint Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 Do our players do any other training than foot tennis? I am not complaining as it seems to be working but does cast doubt on why we need a £15m training complex. Surely they could do that at Fleming Park?
doggface Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 Great news. A lot of twisting and turning required for head tennis so can't be far away. Well done medical team
saintdaz Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 how do you know for this this vid was this morning?
S-Clarke Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 how do you know for this this vid was this morning? It was posted by Saints FC 13 mins ago.
Matthew Le God Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 how do you know for this this vid was this morning? Why would you think it wasn't? It was posted today (the day they film training before a match to go with the press conference footage) and comes with the description... Southampton FC VINE: A wet morning at the #SaintsFC training ground, but @DejanLovren05, @gasramirez10 and @Mattytargett don't seem to mind!
Saint Charlie Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 Obviously still in a rehab phase as those three have all been injured but has to be good news.
Window Cleaner Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 Lovren and Ramirez doing ball work this morning... don't look like a couple of lads with strained ankle ligaments actually; Perhaps both on the bench for the Hull game, if not Cup game.
Matthew Le God Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 (edited) Gastón Ramírez @gasramirez10 2m Primer día en la cancha con @DejanLovren05 @Mattytargett muy contentos! First day on the pitch. We are very happy Edited 6 February, 2014 by Matthew Le God
JoeShmoe Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 Uncanny how similar Targett looks to Shaw in terms of size and build, lets hope he's half as good
Olallana Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 Would expect at least two more weeks before they can be in the match day squad.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 Uncanny how similar Targett looks to Shaw in terms of size and build, lets hope he's half as good He is quite laid back like Luke, but they are slightly different players. Targett not as direct going forward but his defensive positioning and decision making is pretty good considering his experience. He's coasted through many of the games I've seen him play for the U21's. Not by standing out and doing brilliant things, but just by looking very comfortable and a little unchallenged at times which is a good sign as that is what Luke was like as well.
Window Cleaner Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 Who's the 4th person in the Vine? Red Adidas booter, can't be too many of those, might be JWP he still wears those, then again he isn't wearing first team kit. Most of the other Adidas wearers have gone to the orange model. Then again it could be a lad from the U21s like McQueen.
Andre Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 agree with all the praise for lovren, such a good signing in so many ways... one of the best centre-backs around, has one of the best attitudes of any footballer i've seen, rubs off extremely well on the team (e.g. bringing out the best in fonte), and seems to genuinely appreciate and care for the club. KEEP HIM

Its one of the backroom staff monitoring the progress of the three injured players, can't remember his name of the top of my head.
Lighthouse Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 As much as I rate Lovren, we've actually not lost a game since he has been injured. Before that we also picked up a win at Cardiff without him. I think the only loss this season when he was missing was at the Emirates. I think it shows how we aren't actually 'desperate' for another CB and our priorities in summer should lie elsewhere.
iansums Posted 6 February, 2014 Posted 6 February, 2014 Its not one of the players. Its one of the backroom staff monitoring the progress of the three injured players, can't remember his name of the top of my head. Fail
Batman Posted 7 February, 2014 Posted 7 February, 2014 both back in a couple of weeks, according to this http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php just in time for the liverpool game

Essruu Posted 7 February, 2014 Posted 7 February, 2014 His initials are TS. OK, I didn't see this before posting. Definitely IS Tom then!
Saint-Reece Posted 7 February, 2014 Posted 7 February, 2014 OK, I didn't see this before posting. Definitely IS Tom then! Has he replaced the fella who followed Adkins to Reading then?
