Ref was shocking today. Even if we won id have said that. Ramirez was fouled at least twice prior to his injury tackle and the ref did nothing. And that final tackle was brutal. He got the ball after going through the player. In my view the ref bottled a lot of decisions today. The standard of refs in the PL is getting worse and worse.

The linesman however seem to be getting better.

Thats what happens when you employ jack from hollyoaks as ref:

Loan system in the Pl just creates a false sense of self, look at everton have so many loans its stupid and its these loans doing the business.

Really think the loan system needs an overhaul. PL clubs shouldn't be able to loan to other PL clubs. Having said that we may now need to strengthen with these injuries and I could only see us getting loans in considering our long term future is unknown.

It's not being disrespectful to Sunderland, or arrogant of us, to say we should have won. We dominated them, and should have put the result to bed in the first half, or in the first 10 minutes of the second half. If Lovren's out for a while, that's the season over for us I'm afraid as it looks unlikely we'll bring in a replacement. And as for those saying Osvaldo is back, what the **** has he done other than that goal against Man City?. lastly, who is going to own up to mentioning Altidore as a good signing in the summer? I laughed at it then, but today he proved beyond all doubt how bad he is.

With all the money and politics spoiling the game this was a joy to watch. A great start by saints who really could and perhaps should have been 3 or 4 ahead before Sunderland had their first shot on goal. But what I really love about this game is how a freak goal threw the whole thing up in the air. After a while saints restored the order with great possession but still failed to make the most of possession. Full credit to Sunderland who hauled themselves back in the game not just against us but against their own fickle fans.

The result was fair in the end and you've got to be relieved with a point against one of our bogey teams. More concerned about lovren and gaston than about the points dropped to be honest.

Why do people keep saying that our season is over because of a result or an injury? What does that mean? What would 'our season' be if Lovren hadn't got injured today?

We're in a healthy position - could climb, could drop. We're still in the cup, and we'll be fighting until the last game to finish as high as we can, same as every team.

You'd think supporting a team that traditionally floats in midtable would teach people to make the most of every game.

Personally, I can't see us catching the teams above us, or falling down any places. Our defence without Lovren is a whole different proposition. However It does sound like it might not be as bad as first feared. I just hope we go all out to win the FA Cup, starting with a convincing win next week against Yeovil

Wanyama can indeed play centre back, did often enough for Celtic but how he'd do at it in the rarefied atmosphere of the PL who knows.
Jack Cork also played as a centre back so this may enable both Wanyama and Cork to play an interchanging game and both be included in the lineup

Our long term future is in the Premier League - maybe with a different owner but I can't see why the possibility of a change 'up top' would cause uncertainty for players considering signing for us.

i really don't think there'll be any money for transfers this window...none whatsoever, not even loan fees.

shame about ramirez. looked good again when he came on

Agreed. I was looking forward to what might well have been a goal of the season contender when he was assaulted from behind.

I can honestly say I hate Brown. Seen way too many of those tackles from him over the years.

Nice work from the ref once again, missed the GBH whilst right under his nose.

Based on? Seriously wish everyone would just wait and see even if KL wants to sell she will know a healthy premier league side will fetch more cash if we desperately need a player I see no reason she wouldn't spend again as she has done consistently since inheriting the club.

Just back from the game. First half we were great, really disappointed to concede to be honest as I felt like had we gone in at 2-0 and seen out the 10min storm that would have come at the start of the second half that Sunderland would have been broken and we could have managed the game properly to win.

Second half was messy - Sunderland pressed us a little higher up the pitch and we lost some of our composure. It was also disappointing to lose the ball in some important areas when we had men forward which allowed Sunderland to attack dangerously. I know that is the game we play but the players often realise when it is critical to keep the ball and in the second half a few of them passed without conviction at times which also got their crowd up and changed the momentum of the game.

However, in terms of the bigger picture I am happy with a point away from home and the way the team played for the most part at the end of a potentially distracting week.

Ramirez looked very smart when he came on and I hope his injury is not as serious as it sounds. Lovren's sounds better than expected as well so that is a relief. It's been a unique week but overall I think the team (and staff) can hold their heads up high after that.

Both Lovren and Ramirez on way back with their team mates.

Good news.

In the good old days though, after a long coach trip back from the north east, I expect McGrath, Gabriel or Fisher would be first off the coach, and last propping the bar up when they got back, serious leg injury or not.

There is a great deal about those days that I miss..........And a great deal that I don't.

Could you imagine if today's knowledge and attitude were applied to Saints in the 70's while all the other teams were also still pubbing and clubbing? We would be Barcelona now, not just Barca wannabes! ;)

I hate Brown - absolutely terrible player and how he didn't walk for what was a cynical two-footed, studs up, through the ball to player challenge, I really don't know. It looked to me as if Lovren's injury could be his Achilles gone when he extended his leg - not good? Hope Boruc has not gone and injured himself too. Two weeks will be a good rest opportunity with Kelv in goal for Yeovil. Lambert - incredibly - was for me the worst Saints player in the pitch by a long chalk - just hardly made an impact. J-Rod as a striker is hot'n'cold - one minute a fantastic goal, next a string of awful misses when it's on a plate.

Onwards and upwards - the good news is we're not being challenged yet for the ninth slot. We do need some fresh blood in the camp though, although Wanyama and Osvaldo will be like two new signings I guess.

We are on a little island called 9th.........would have taken that beginning of the season so happy ifwe stay there or catch Newcastle maybe.

We were 8th today until Sunderland equalised. Newcastle only had to play Wet Sham so easy 3 points for them today, of course they are catchable.
