Roma remains aggressive on the transfer market. Today there was a meeting between their sporting director Walter Sabatini and the agent for Gaston Ramirez, they talked the future of the Southampton player. The English club wants to sell him to avoid having to pay a percentage to Penarol. But Ramirez doesn’t have a European passport and Roma doesn’t have a not EU slot available. The giallorossi would like to park him to a team for the rest of the season. Galatasaray is also interested in Ramirez. Roma continues to be active in January.

The Rome is triggered, it does not stop, and think about the future. There was a summit today between Walter Sabatini and Gaston Ramirez's agent, has talked about the future of the Uruguayan footballer of Southampton. The c

Would be silly to let anyone go if we're honest. The squad is already quite thin when we have injuries, and it really doesn't look like we'll be doing any incomings in this window....so we'd end January weaker, whatever anyone says about Gaston.

Let's hope this doesn't happen.

Gaston is a class player be a real shame if he goes - love watching him play . Should be given m

No one denies he is not a good player simply the fact he can not do it in this side and League, slower paced would suit him fine, also a team whereby they have another 10 quailty players who can nuture the best out of him would help, we simply dont have that luxury.

This esp if no one is coming in. He has the ability to change games.

Deal reportedly agreed where he will sign for Roma (for the cost of one of our payments to them for Osvaldo) but he will go back to Bologna for the rest of the season on loan.

In the long run, if it means we get Osvaldo for a fraction of the price we reportedly paid for him then i see it as a 'potentially' good deal.

You never know, this could be the moment whereby he realises that he's staying here, he's not going to get a move for the foreseeable now. He can now get his head down and rehabilitate, and get himself back in the side next year to make a difference, if he's got the right attitude it could be like a fresh chance for him here after he recovers.

He's not really had much luck here. At any time when it looks like he's about to make a breakthrough, something horrible happens to him. He started last season great for us, looked class, then he got that nasty dead leg injury and was out for what felt like months. Wasn't the same after that, lost a lot of fitness.

Hard not to feel sorry for him, and us. He's looked a new player lately, could easily have nailed that into the net if he hadn't have got chopped down. Hope it doesn't affect his development

This. The tackle even happen after he had beaten three men and was about to get into a goalscoring position.

Everything you're saying today is completely spot on.

Never post on here now but have been following the forum for years and agree with you - S-Clarke is one of a few posters whose replies I always look out for. Talks a lot of sense and always keeps things rational and well reasoned.

Sorry we're going to sell him to Roma for a couple of million when he cost us near £13 million! That's mad - we should hold on to him until tafter he World Cup and at least get our money back on him. That's assuming he's fit enough to play again this season.

Never saw the point of him. Very annoyed he has taken free kicks instead of Rickie.

Equally annoyed to see a reluctant and uninjured Lallana subbed for Ramirez.

He must have one of the worst ratios in the squad for shots taken:goals scored.

Sorry for his injury today and understand he wants more regular football though.

Can't we do a loan swap for remainder of season and try someone else?

He's getting better every week. Lallana had loads of ball but kept getting final ball wrong.

Its hard to take seriously any source that thinks a Crystal Palace side managed by Tony Pulis would...

a) afford Gaston Ramirez's transfer fee and wages

b) be of interest to Ramirez to join

c) actually be interested in him considering he is the complete opposite of what Pulis looks for in a player

The source is his agent as those are his quotes.
