OK fellow lounge dwellers, dig deep. I'm stupid enough to 1/2 kill myself riding 100 miles, including some huge chuffing hills for charity so please be kind enough to give £2 each (or more if you could) to support me. What's £2? Not even enough for a pint down south (you can buy houses in Stoke for that mind you).

I've never ridden 100 miles before nor attempted to raise such a hefty sum for a charity.

http://www.justgiving.com/Davidride100 or text DCWA66 with the amount £2 ot more if you can afford it, to 70070.

Dig deep guys, the hospice's can't help people without public support as they don't get a penny from the state.

I appreciate every penny that you can give and if I could, would thank you personally for your donation.

Well worth a few quid of anyone's money, so why not mine... I reckon you'll love doing the ride - just take it at a pace that suits you and you'll be fine.

VFTT, please pm me an address where I can send a cheque to.

I turned 50 last year. Didn't do anything so grand. Just tried to ignore the years by; taking my parents on a holiday like the ones they used to take me to; going to Disney (Paris) with my daughter; meeting up with old school friends; etc.

Anyway, good luck and tell where I can send a cheque (can't do paypal from here).

Did you know that the majority of people who see out their days in a hospice are all alone. They'd die alone as well if it wasn't for the dedication of the staff that man these places.

Don't know about you guys but I dread being on my own at my end of days.

Every £ that you guys donate will mean that someone will have a hand to hold as they draw their last breath.

http://www.justgiving.com/Davidride100 or text DCWA66 and the amount you'd like to donate to 70070

Thanks to Mr Cope I've now cracked £500 but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't give.

Make a difference, don't be a misanthropic a*sehole your whole life!

This just sums up the very worst of the modern look at me fund raiser.

If it's such a worthy cause why wait until some nobody on a football forum begs for money before giving over your cash?

I have no problem with people raising money for charity. Start a thread, make your request and hope for the best, thank people for the donations. Don't call people arseholes if they won't donate and don't post it on multiple threads. It's a surefire way to undermine the efforts of other well intentioned fund raisers.

My second point was a bit off topic and reflects my opinion, which is valid but perhaps not the correct thread.

Jog on, it's worked a treat since I've already raised over 2/3 of the money I need to raise so hopefully it'll go beyond that meaning even more help for those who need it.

Most of us are misanthropic ar*eholes in The Lounge, myself included so the very fact that I can be bothered to challenge myself whilst raising much needed funds means that I'll nag and annoy like f**k to get as much cash out of as many people as I can.

If you don't like it, then don't read the thread and as for spamming other threads, it's 1, the pompey one, so get your facts correct before spouting off.

Fair enough, that's your position, and I have stated mine (but just for the record I would consider 2 threads "multiple").

Just out of curiosity, and it's a genuine question, is the £750 a threshold set by the charity for you to get a "free" place in the event? (by free I assume that charity pays for the entry but you probably pay a similar amount as a donation yourself and I acknowledge the effort that goes into an event like this.)

The £750 is the minimum set by the charity for a place. They only have 8 "gold bond" places as they are a small local charity (some big charities will have 100s).

Weather is supposed to be absolute pants this weekend, take it easy out there!

Windy, which is tough, but I'll be staying off the very minor roads, which will be flooded and filthy.

You lovely people, I know loads have already been so very generous but that doesn't mean I'll stop posting!

As you know I'll be riding my first non stop 100 miler for my local hospice (read about their care services here https://www.khhospice.org.uk/care). It's going to be hard & it's going to be painful but it's worth it for the cause I'm supporting.

Even the training leaves my legs like jelly and me wanting to puke from the effort so please give a few quid to make it all worthwhile.

http://www.justgiving.com/Davidride100 or text your donation to 70070 and enter DCWA66 followed by the amount.

Thanks.
