Mauricio Pochettino staying as Southampton manager - Official

I think he's hedging his bets, as he probably said on Saturday that Poch was leaving, now this. Either way, he can now claim to have "told you so" when the dust settles.

Suprisingly he did say the other day it was a case of "when not if" Poch would go and that he would "inevitably" follow Cortese out the door.

Bloke is a poor, poor Journalist. Waiting for him to say he "understands John Williams will be appointed CEO" tomorrow. He already copied a Blackmore tweet the other day.

Best one in the summer was when he wrote a Daily Star article saying we had bid 15m for Nainggolan and the very next day tweeted to deny our interest in the player. :D

I've followed him for a fair while on Twitter, and it can be no coincidence that his revelations, almost without fail, follow a few minutes after another journalist's, whoever that may be.

He's got a quote.

Those quotes from Cork make for very reassuring reading, pleased that he thinks nobody above the manager should affect the players. Also noted him talking about next season, which suggests that he's not looking to go anywhere.

SBOBET are one of the club's sponsors and just tweeted this...

SBOBETweets@SBOBETweets

1m

[Football #News] With just 17 months left on his contract, #SaintsFC coach Mauricio Pochettino is set to be offered a new long-term deal.

And Tim Sherwood is saying he'll probably be sacked if they don't make the CL. It's a watch this space situation. Mauricio would be foolish to commit himself long term until he sees which way the wind is going to blow. Seemed to be his attitude last Thursday as well.

Also SBOBET sponsor 5 PL clubs, anyone who wants to give them a bit of publicity for their heinous activity is welcome.

What do we make of this then? Load of ******** because it is 'bad' news?

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/mauricio-pochettinos-southampton-future-still-3196822?

look if MP doesn't want to be here then it's best for all concerned if he moves on. If he want's to stay great if not I'm happy the club are making contingency plans to find a suitable replacement.

Really can't see Pochettino being a serious candidate for Inter Milan (unless Cortese ends up there).

He's not done enough to warrant it. Might as well give the Inter job to Alan Pardew, who has been far more successful.

And is mental enough to fit right in on an Italian touchline.

Out of interest, who exactly might be lining up a replacement ?

I doubt KL has an in depth knowledge of Spanish football, Ralph Krueger perhaps marginally more, but for the selection of a manager/first team coach ?

It's bit of a mess.

Assuming MP leaves, Les Reed would be involved but given the proximity of the working relationship, so would the chief exec. If and when we decide to hire one....

Question the Cortese "influence" mentioned though. I doubt he's as big an influence there as he'd like to think he is.

Indeed, other than the made up stories by him of AC Milan wanting him how exactly is he influential in Italy? Last time I checked he was an unemployed former banker and chairman of a midtable English club.

As soon as NC left, I just took it as a given that Poch would go in the summer. Pretty sure he'll be off with or without an job offer elsewhere too. Things do 'feel' different these post NC days. Personally think it's a real shame how things have panned out for us, I never bought into the Champs League nonsense, but with NC and Poch in place I thought we were in for a great few years, and now it's been taken away without any real facts as to why being known. Just hope to god we don't drift back to relegation dog fights as a consequence.

The big unknown is the knock on effect on the players: how many might be more inclined to leave if MP leaves. It's blindingly obvious that they're fond of him and credit him for bringing their games on.

There it is!

Mr Predictable strikes again.

I have to say that whilst he quite clearly knows his football and more often than not posts some decent stuff, he is turning into the mongs that he mocks.

Turkish - it is akin to an ali dia joke or has rudi signed yet post....... your living the mong board dream.

For once I actually think this might be. Smells of a planted piece what with the Cortese stuff, the mirror were his allies. Dont forget he was linked with Real Madrid a couple of weeks ago. Can't really see why either would want him at the moment.

No great loss imho

We have the best Saints squad in my lifetime and mopo simply hasnt got the best from them

Form since the 1st 11 games has been v poor

So what about players crediting MP for developing their game - Fonte, Shaw, Chambers, Lallana, Jrod?

Players praising manager shocker....... Same at every club and every manager

And backed up by their performances on the pitch - they've all objectively improved. If you want to credit that improvement to something else, fire away pal. I'll take the players' word.

That's my concern.

In truth I'm fairly resigned to Pochettino going because he's never really seemed attached to the club or its fans, and Cortese's departure wouldn't have helped one little bit.

His loyalty is to the players, and theirs to him, so I do fear losing some key guys if MP goes.

And conversely, what about the performances of Lambert, Yoshida, Clyne,Ramirez, Puncheon?

I don't think he's managed to get the best of Ramirez - he's not really a MP type of player. Many managers have struggled with Puncheon not just MP, though it's still uncertain whether MP pulled the trigger too quickly or Punch genuinely wanted to leave for family reasons. Lambert is in the twilight of his career, though MP's system hasn't helped. Yoshida and Clyne have stalled under MP, though that may be due to MP's ability to develop players in the same position e.g. Fonte and Chambers, meaning that they've featured less.

Where do you think the team should be? Who above us are we better than? (apart from possibly Newcastle)

Weve been in a bubble, and its now deflating.

I just dont get the feeling that post-NC there is the same drive and ambition.

I expect a period of gradual but noticeable decline which started with the FA cup exit.

I dont get the impression MP is fussed any more; I think it started with Osvaldo leaving.

You should say that a few more times. It's really funny, no it is.

Thought you were putting me on ignore you pillock? Read my second post on the subject where I clarified the point rather than spouting your usual obsessive nonsense.

Well I'm far from convinced about this Javi gracia chap. Never stays anywhere for long, in 7 jobs only lasted more than a year once and been fired a few times. Hardly seems like a stable, long term appointment.
