Glasgow_Saint Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 Meulensteen comparable record is from a much smaller sample of only 8 games compared to Pochettino being one short of 38 games. Meulensteen in those 8 games is averaging 1.125 points per game compared with Pochettino's 1.324. Over 38 games that would be... - Meulensteen 42.75 points - Pochettino 50.3 points You know times are hard when you have to dissect and manipulate FULHAMS' results ffs

Restark19 Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 Its great that Poch is staying, for now. The issue for me is that his contract is up at the end of the season, It worries me that he may now decide not to renew due to the departure of NC, his close friend. positivepete Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 As Pochettino hasn't yet completed a full season, but is one game away from managing the club for 38 league games I don't see the problem looking at how many points he earnt in roughly one season as an indication as to how well he has done. Mr X and yourself are saying a win ratio of 32% isn't great, but that fails to consider that the draws he gained when added to those wins actually add up to a high number of points. To be dismissive of a win ratio of 32% win ratio and not take into account how points the manager has earnt is bizarre. - Over his entire 37 games he has enough points for roughly 8th place in a 38 game season (so a game in hand as well). - Over 21 games this season he has enough points for a position of 9th in the current table. That is not poor. And if you look at the "corresponding fixtures" method of scoring we are 9 points ahead of where we were for the equivalent fixtures, so on course for a 50 point season. I am still backing my original assertion that we will finish on 55 points this season.

COMEONYOUREDS Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 Are you aware how that 32% record in Premier League games works out in terms of points? Played: 37 Won: 12 Drawn: 13 Lost: 12 Win Percentage 32% That is 49 points from 37 games. In 2012/13, 49 points would have been enough for 8th place and he'd have a game in hand. you've already posted this on another thread

A lovely two fingers to the dross written in the papers this morning. Good news indeed. However, i think that the summer will be less than clear and that is the time that we will get the most upheaval. I expect a sale of the club after the season ends, and as always, it will be messy. derry Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 Sensible man. Slept on it, made a good decision. He is probably upset but time heals especially if we do well. I wouldn't bet against a new contract in due course. Next step a first class business CEO to carry on. Katharina came to Southampton to hold this together, a good move. If she gets the staff onside the dream is on again. If she wants to sell it would be sensible to keep the dream going.

ottery st mary Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 (edited) Hoping MP stays with an extended contract at season close. For me... KL to continue with the club and the right CEO to run the show on her behalf if necessary. Would not be unhappy with her running the show with just a Director of football.... She may decide that is what her father would truly want.. Not sure what will happen to Les Reed through all this. COYS....3 points at Sunderland and go for the FA Cup........ Miss Liebherr stood taking phots as we collect the winners trophy.......Yes...her dad would be proud:D Edited 16 January, 2014 by ottery st mary

Aside from the parking charges (which go towards revenue and FFP) and changing the size of the programmes, how is that any different than before? Jonnyboy Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 Hope you had money on that, Jonny. Not sure if the odds were very good but if my boss quit, doesnt mean Im going to even if we got on quite well and we once had a few glasses of wine together. SNSUN Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 Glad Pochettino is staying, that is definitely good news in that it is stabilising for the club in these uncertain times and is perhaps the best chance we had of not losing key players. I hope his commitment to last until the summer rings true. Have we heard from any players today? I've been at work today so aside from following TalkSport I don't know the goings on of the day. It'd be comforting to hear from, say, Kelvin, just to know what the concensus is like in the dressing room.

red&white56 Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 Funny i thought that the spanish version was far less committal than the translated version, and that some of the complexities and subtleties were lost in translation. But as he was listening to his translator express in English what he had just said in Spanish and he corrected him on a couple of occasions when his translation was wrong, I don't think there's an issue with what we heard from the translator.
