Red and White Army Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 Complete speculation, not a single quote or remark that there is any interest.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 Yes complete speculation - but perhaps not so far out of the whelm of possibility to be completely worthless. Given the healthy state of the club (both on and off the field) I'm moderately confident that should Katharina want to sell - and methinks she probably should - then there will wealthy candidates, such as this Singaporean businessman, prepared to take SFC on. There may even be a queue of them.
Mr X Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 We are definitely a saleable asset at the moment but apparently Katherina has been trying to sell for a while now and turned down several offers as she values it as considerably more
alpine_saint Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 Hmm one thing about the Germanic mentality should be considered here - when they want to sell something, they come up with their own valuation (usually astronomically high) and wont budge from it, despite a contradictory consentual valuation (lower). Buying a used car in Austria and Germany is crazy; none of that "drive a new car off the forecourt and lose the VAT immediately" notion here. I've seen 2 year old cars (near end of warranty) with 30,000-40,000 km on the clock being sold for 2 grand under the new price.
ART Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 I'm sure this was the guy Michael Wilde tried to bring in as investor. I'd rather we get European buyers if the club is to me sold. Keep out the Asian-Chinese mafias.

Don't want to be the play-thing of some tw*t like Vincent Tan. Would hate for us to be bankrolled as much as City have been as well. Would be selling our soul. JxgrSaint Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 On the subject of potential new owners, what about Wang Jianlin? Richest man in China ($14.2bn) and runs the Dalian Wanda group which owns, among other things Sunseeker. So strong links to the club and the city and a working relationship with Cortese. Also looking to grow presence in England - bought Sunseeker in June and announced plans for a billion dollar 5* hotel in London in June. Football club and the subsequent shirt and stadium sponsorship could be a next step in growing the brand in Europe and would make a good target for Cortese as new backers as wouldn't be too involved and might let him run the show again... melmacian_saint Posted 16 January, 2014 Share Posted 16 January, 2014 (edited) I wonder if a Western billionaire could get away with doing so much stuff anywhere else in the world like these Tans and Al Farajes do. Probably not (and rightly so!), and would even be condemned back home if they did. Cortese might have changed our shirts, at least we're not officially the Southampton Saints or indeed have changed colour to green in name of some nationwide preference. I would rather the Liebherrs held tight to the club, and appointed a new CEO. Edited 16 January, 2014 by melmacian_saint
