S-Clarke Posted 15 January, 2014 Share Posted 15 January, 2014 Southampton FC: Appointment of Chairman Southampton FC today announces that club owner Katharina Liebherr has taken on the role of non-executive Chairman. This follows the resignation of Nicola Cortese. A search has begun for a Chief Executive Officer who will take over Mr Cortese's executive duties. Katharina Liebherr said: "With great regret we have accepted the resignation of Mr Cortese. He has done a wonderful job at the club and we very much wanted him to stay. A search has now begun for a successor. In the meantime, it is business as usual and we will ensure that the manager, the team and all the staff at the club have all the help and support they need." trousers Posted 15 January, 2014 Share Posted 15 January, 2014 Maybe there's a silver lining to be had here? Griffo Posted 15 January, 2014 Share Posted 15 January, 2014 Get a grip some of you. He wasn't the one with the money and he had little say on the on-field matters. Unless Pochettino goes (which wouldn't be all that much of a disaster) and all our best players leave then this is pretty irrelevant. Hopefully Le Tiss/Benali can be welcome at the club again and we can get our stripes back next season.

doddisalegend Posted 15 January, 2014 Share Posted 15 January, 2014 So I guess NC pushed to far and the owner pushed back. To be fair saints is bigger than any one man NC has done a lot for the club, no doubt, but we will survive him leaving (and the same goes for the manager and players) the owners are the important thing here after all it's their money (not NCs) that got us here and even if the do sell us we must be an attractive club to buy (not to mention worth a bit which should keep the potless types away). Barry Sanchez Posted 15 January, 2014 Share Posted 15 January, 2014 Cue the backstabbing and vitriol of Cortese when 24 hours ago he was the unofficial patron saint of Southampton. As long as we have a team we have a love, he was not a football man, he was and is a numbers man. It was his baby and he gave it back, that proves how much he thought of us. He had more of a feel for the football than Lowe, more business acumen that Lowe, and wasnt such an attention-seeking. Look round the PL at the sort of trouble we could be in, in a few short weeks...
