Shall we all just calm down and wait for something official...?

Or just carry on speculating ourselves into a frenzy...?

If anyone has anything "real" ie club statements, new NC interviews, MP interviews please post the links/videos etc...

I think we should carry on in the normal way on this forum!

Surely the whole point of an internet forum is to speculate ourselves into a frenzy. If we waited for something official this thread would not exist and we'd be talking about Yeovil ticket prices

Wasn't this all entirely predictable? Surely we're lucky the Liebherrs have stuck with us this long.

But we are in a fantastic state for a take over, perfect for the right investor, to take us to the next level. Anyone?

It sure is, this reminds me of the Lowe days......

No panic from me, quite interesting if you ask me. I thought at the time it was the end of the world, but it is not that bad.... What ever will be will be. We move on and carry on supporting Saints like we have always done!

Purslow was a guest an SSN the other evening when they did the 30min transfer special. Impressed me.

TBH, whether the Liebherr's want to sell, or stay - They will need somebody to run things regardless.

SSN in their current reports are saying that Cortese has confirmed he wants to leave, but what the source is for that I have no idea.

As far as I can see, it all started with reports that Cortese wanted to leave in the summer, and then escalated rapidly when it was reported that he had handed in his resignation.

That then changed to conflicting reports that the resignation had been refused, and reports that the resignation hadn't been handed in.

Now there are conflicting reports that there's a row between Cortese and KL, which has been caused by the owner wanting more control, or the owner wanting to sell, or Cortese wanting more backing, and that Cortese's future is unclear.

Further muddying the waters is that the reactions of the manager and players from when this happened during the summer are being re-reported, and it's not being made clear that they aren't reactions to the current situation.

Meanwhile, in line with Saints' usual method of dealing with speculation, there's been no official response.

Cheers...so i guess we shall all just have to wait and see

I wonder if it's arguing about the bonus Cortese was 'promised' if he got certain things (was it European football) in five years? Seem to recall there was something about £4m *worries about poor memory*

Still has half a year. I make it 4.5 years since the plan begun?

Yes, I remember it well ........ some 14 years and not even £1 of Investment ........ Lowelife reality

Does anyone really want to have that back again ??

Of course not, this was always going to come to an end, Cortese if he cant find backers will have to go with the selling Liebherrs, its obvious they have never wanted it bar Markus Liebherr.

The 5 year plan was always to get into Europe and sell. With us now set to probably miss out following the recent slump the Liebherr's must think now is the time to sell and not spend any more millions. Pray tell me, where has the club recuperated the vaste expenditure by Cortese. We've not sold big to plough back the millions wasted. And we've players like Sharp eating away the profits and not playing,

Anyone seeing Cortese's face before he left on holiday, the faces of some players like Lambert, and Pochettino himself showed that something was up.

SSN right now: Nothing concrete still, only reports of a 'threat' to resign.

Nothing concrete. Is that a reference to the Don's favoured footwear for people he does not get on with?

Lowe gets alot of abuse on here, but didnt he start a number of the positive aspects of our club. Youth policy, stadium, academies accross uk, training ground ect

Nicola seems to get alot of credit for these things, but he's just picked up where lowe left it as will our new chairman once Nic moves on

I just can't get excited about this. Whatever happens will happen. Life will go on.

What we need is some fans down at the ground larking around in the background behind that poor reporter. There's no chance of convincing anyone to take over the club unless they can see what huge, passionate support we have.

Southampton owner Katharina Liebherr is set to take over as chairman with Nicola Cortese set to leave imminently.

Cortese, 45, tendered his formal resignation in the autumn and is already serving the notice period on his contract.

Southampton declined to comment when contacted by the BBC, but the position of manager Mauricio Pochettino now looks increasingly uncertain.

Cortese disagrees with Liebherr's wish to see the club's immediate sale.

It has, however, emerged that the former Swiss banker submitted his formal resignation from the club almost three months ago and has been serving the remainder of his contract ever since.

At the time, Southampton were third in the Premier League table and with communication between the parties now at a standstill, there appears no way back.

Cortese considered his position in May as he attempted to clarify the future position of the club with Miss Liebherr. He eventually decided to stay after receiving the necessary assurances.

He has at times been a figure that has polarised opinion at St Mary's but has seen Southampton climb from League One to the top flight in less than four years.

As i just tweeted, maybe the theory of Cortese buggering off and coming back in with the new consortium is true as he is trying to persuade Pochettino to continue as manager.

Nicola Cortese rumoured to be leaving Saints imminently and is trying to persuade Pochettino not to follow.

Don't know how much Collymore really knows much about the situation, still more speculation
