Matthew Le God Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Cortese has just returned from a 3 week skiing holiday. In any business it's highly unusual for the owner/owners not to be represented on the board and leave one person solely in charge. Even less a free hand to spend millions at a whim. Even Markus planned to bring in a Director of Football to run the club. That is what Les Reed effectively is, albeit with a slightly different job title.
9-3 Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Was Cortese at the WBA game Saturday? I couldn't see him from my seat.
Saint Garrett Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Was Cortese at the WBA game Saturday? I couldn't see him from my seat. He was skiing.

Halo Stickman Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 (edited) Some good news!! 17 pages and still no sign of Dalek talking about Hoddle Edited 15 January, 2014 by Halo Stickman learnt to count
trousers Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 He was skiing. Does that mean it's all downhill from here...? (Yes, that is indeed the sound of me fetching my coat)
Pastor Patrón Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Schneiderlin just said all the players would be considering their positions if Cortese left.
Cascadia Saint Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 It would take nothing to envision the 3rd coming of Rupert Lowe. Struggling to envision that myself.
angelman Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Schneiderlin just said all the players would be considering their positions if Cortese left. What does that mean? That they will break out their contracts and look at what terms they agreed and signed up to?
hypochondriac Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Struggling to envision that myself. I would love him just to pretend on talksport so I could see the reaction.
trousers Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Schneiderlin just said all the players would be considering their positions if Cortese left. He hasn't "just" said that. Talksport are reporting what he said in May. Might still apply of course.

mitch01 Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Schneiderlin just said all the players would be considering their positions if Cortese left. Wasn't that last May? Unless he's just mentioned it again on his way out of traing..?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 If that is the case wouldn't you, if it was your business then you would be firing for the person responsible for this and want to rectify this as soon as possible. 100%! Some on here dismiss the money wasted on players "they helped us with our jouney" But KL wont see it like that - she will look at it in black and white. we have wasted bucket loads of cash Approx cost per game (lowest estimate) Barnard = £68,000 Forte = £380,000 Martin = £208,000 De Ridder = £115,000 Lee = £430,000
hypochondriac Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 All this mass player exodus stuff is ridiculously premature. Cortese and the pr company have set up this situation. If he leaves it will very much depend who else we bring in.
S-Clarke Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Pretty rubbish attempt at fishing Glasgow, at least try and make an effort.
Pastor Patrón Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 He hasn't "just" said that. Talksport are reporting what he said in May. Might still apply of course. Pretty sure they said he was on the phone to them a minute ago?

Cardiff spent £8m on a forward who's never played
Colinjb Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 One thing that struck me last time was just how quickly everything resolved itself, it all ended just as swiftly as the whole incident began and all in convenient time for the last game of the season. With two days between now and the Sunderland game I would expect a very swift resolution.
mulletsaint Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 All this mass player exodus stuff is ridiculously premature. Cortese and the pr company have set up this situation. If he leaves it will very much depend who else we bring in. I doubt they would be flooding out the door before the end of January, but I'd imagine the summer would be pretty interesting. If MP left and the new chairman didn't appeal I'd imagine there'll be a large amount of agent shenanigans kicking off.
Lets B Avenue Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Pretty sure they said he was on the phone to them a minute ago? Can I interest you in some double glazing?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Show me a PL club where that isnt the case. Cardiff spent £8m on a forward who's never played Injured! + We paid £14m for Osvaldo - he rarely plays!! £14m for Ramirez and he rarely plays

Please show your working.
trousers Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Pretty sure they said he was on the phone to them a minute ago? It was journo Alex Crook on the phone and he was telling Adrian Durham what Morgan said in May.
trousers Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Can't be bothered to read 17 pages. Can someone sum up with 1 word please. Going/Staying/Unsure All three of those.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 How did you arrive at those figures, Glesgie? Please show your working. Basic weekly wage x contract to date ÷ games played
Pastor Patrón Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 It was journo Alex Crook on the phone and he was telling Adrian Durham what Morgan said in May. Oh, I tuned in to that bit and thought they said they'd just been hearing the views of Morgan Schneiderlin and then repeated it a few minutes later. Bit pointless referring to stuff from nearly a year ago
Jimmy_D Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 All three of those. SSN actually reported all three of those within a couple of minutes of each other at one point.

Bit pointless referring to stuff from nearly a year ago Indeed. And then Durham proceeded to report it as if it was a quote from Morgan today. Most unlike the media to be misleading...

Everyone has players that don't play, especially promoted clubs. I'd be more worried about Mayuka, Ramirez and Osvaldo if I were her.
Whitey Grandad Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Schneiderlin just said all the players would be considering their positions if Cortese left. Can he play left back or in goal? He's a professional footballer. He'll do exactly what he's told to do.
jasonb Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 the 3rd coming of Rupert Lowe. I feel physically sick !
Dig Dig Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Can he play left back or in goal? He's a professional footballer. He'll do exactly what he's told to do. Yea right, footballers always do what they are told.
derry Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 A right feeding frenzy everywhere. I think I'll wait until it all clarifies. This could be playing politics to maintain the status quo. Strange how nothing comes out of the club then this leaked.
Saint Charlie Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 All this mass player exodus stuff is ridiculously premature. Cortese and the pr company have set up this situation. If he leaves it will very much depend who else we bring in. We will see. I think you will be disappointed.
Jimmy_D Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Seems remarkably similar to the situation during the summer now. Guess it's just a case of wait and see again.
JoeShmoe Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Injured! + We paid £14m for Osvaldo - he rarely plays!! £14m for Ramirez and he rarely plays Osvaldo has been injured and needs a run of games and Ramirez is still young, i would think we could recoup most of those transfer fees if we tried to sell, but again name a PL club where an expensive signing hasn't worked out or is sat on the bench. On the flip side of that argument is what the club could get for Shaw, Lallana, Rodriguez, Clyne etc. Given the age of our first XI and the fact they're English i'd wager in asset terms they are worth more than many other PL teams (i.e Newcastle)
trousers Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Joe Batchelor @Joe_Batchelor Pochettino and staff just arrived at St Mary's
Saintandy666 Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Joe Batchelor @Joe_Batchelor Pochettino and staff just arrived at St Mary's I think we can read too much into this, I mean yes, there could be some sort of meeting, but also people who have jobs do tend to turn up to work at some point!
James Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Joe Batchelor @Joe_Batchelor Pochettino and staff just arrived at St Mary's I don't understand how this is surprising - we have a game on Saturday which they will be preparing for....

They stand to make between 70-100mil depending on the investment they have put in when all is said and done. Cortese has brought her that.
Saint Charlie Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 I don't understand how this is surprising - we have a game on Saturday which they will be preparing for.... Usually prepare at the training ground though surely?
Scoobysaint Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 Matey from SISA is a total tool. Sounds like Benny Hill and talks as much sense too!
The Cat Posted 15 January, 2014 Posted 15 January, 2014 The normal Thursday press conference will be well attended tomorrow.
