If you saw someone wasted 30m of your fathers legacy on sh*t, would you give them the same again to waste ?

So, both Osvaldo and Ramirez are sh*t - really? Objectively? In the round? Financially? Really?

Sky Sports News understands Southampton's executive chairman Nicola Cortese has handed in his written resignation.

If Cortese's departure is confirmed, Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino's future could be in serious doubt.

Sources have however told us Cortese is not in discussion with another club in Italy, despite several media reports.

Wonder if that sky sports thing was the family showing that they can play the "leaking to the press" game too?

Quite. Maybe he has already 'resigned' they just haven't told him yet......

Alpine goes on about money wasted, but has the value of the club doubled, trebled or quadrupled? I wouldn't mind an investment like that!

The club really need to come and release a statement asap

Why, what would they be expected to say? At least now it looks like the situation is moving, what happens will happen probably in the next 2 days and then statements will be made.

********. That'll be MP gone as well then.

On top of that how may transfer requests could be handed in? Not good, in fact very bad day for Saints.

Quite - I can't think of any time in English football when the chairman leaving a club prompted a mass exodus (manager, practically every player, tea lady etc etc) as envisaged by some on here.

Indeed, at a lot of Premier League clubs I struggle to think who the chairman (or CEO if you prefer) actually is - it's usually a relatively low profile position.

Remember, we're not talking about the owner here.

Exactly, we are not talking about the owner. We are talking about a VERY unique individual

NICOLA CORTESE

To simply say "he would be missed" is the biggest understatement in the world IMHO

Hmm

Whilst Im sure we will come out of it and survive Id say the future could be very different for us. Cortese, as pig ignorant as he is seems to be the lynchpin of our journey and future.

Hopefully this is all a game, but its a very dangerous one

Yesterday it was just a story that AC Milan wanted him at the end of the season and now suddenly he's meant to have handed in his resignation due to issues with KL! How the hell did that happen?!

Keeps things interesting... once a year! Used to be once a month!!

Seriously

Embarrassing isn't it.

Yes it'd be a big loss, and yes there's a chance a couple of people will be unsure about their future.

But the core of the club is still the same.

No reason the manager and players can't continue their ambitions without Cortese.

I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that I don't think Cortese will leave.

Can you name any other examples of a football club chairman handing in his resignation and causing players at the club to request a transfer?

Why? KL will find another suit to free spend her money....

Give any Chairman a bottomless pit of cash and he will make changes and be deemed a success - ask him to work within a budget and you will get to see how "successful" they really are. Nicola has proved he can be a success when the going is good (who couldn’t!) he has also shown me that he has no stomach for the fight and clearly doesn’t rise to a challenge.

Dear oh dear

Just like the post match threads the usual suspects don't have a clue

No-one is 'very' unique; you are either unique or you are not.

I think it is all for show, I am not sure why, but just have a feeling that he is going to stay and this is NC playing the media again, just to resolve the issues with the owners. I do think the owners will want out soon though.

Someone need to tell NC the story of the boy who cried "Wolf"

These people who think NC leaving is on a par in impact significance with Billy Sharp leaving are plain bat-crap crazy....

Who the f*ck has said that? Or are you just making it up?

Didn't he do this last time he wanted money to spend on players?

A little cynical but some could say true. I don't like to believe anything the newspapers say, I'll wait till the club makes a statement and keep my fingers crossed in the meantime. :-)

It will be a shame if he does leave but we should be more worried about being left with a Pompey-style debt than replacing the bloke who signs the cheques.

No-one mentioned Billy, but a few people are talking about this like a simple personnel change.

However you're one of the biggest moaners about Cortese? Thought you'd see it as a good thing Alpine?

This forum would be far better without the ****tery from alpine. Why is he permitted to exist?

God knows.

Then again I've found some of his trolling hilarious in this thread

Sky Sports News story about possible resignation helps Skybet cash-in shocker!

Almost as if they do things like that deliberately... nah, they wouldn't would they? :D

He is very good at playing and not playing the media. He will come up a cropper one day. But for now, the owners need him more than he needs them.

Having a rich owner of SFC does have its draw backs especially one not interested in football with no vision and not running the club

NC lets face it is just an employee and probably wants more control and more salary.

Unfortunate Situation for all concerned
