SNSUN Posted 11 January, 2014 Share Posted 11 January, 2014 Sunderland (A) Arsenal (H) Fulham (A) Stoke (H) Hull (A) West Ham (A) Liverpool (H) Palace (A) Norwich (H) These are our next 9 Premier League fixtures, after that, the last 8 get a bit tougher. With all the injured players coming back, and the win today starting us off, how many points will we get for these 9 games? 12-14 for me, safety assured, then we can pick up whatever we can get from the last 8 as a bonus. Also, the more points we get before the FA Cup progresses, the more we can concentrate on that and less about the league. Positivity reigns! CB Fry Posted 12 January, 2014 Share Posted 12 January, 2014 Couple of mentions of "safety" being "assured". What is wrong with you people? 30 points at the end of the first full week of January. We are safe. Right now. Safe. We're not going down. We're not going for a European slot either - 8th or 9th is us - so lets hope we have a good go at the cup. M271 Posted 12 January, 2014 Share Posted 12 January, 2014 Looking at the list of the next matches I can't see us getting more then 10 points. Teams at the bottom of the league will be up for avoiding relegation and their form may improve, no game will be easy. It is unlikely that we will not go through this period injury free, just hope that if they come it's 1 or 2 at a time rather than the mass absentees that we have suffered in the past 2 months. Sunderland (A) draw 1-1 Arsenal (H) lose 1-3 Fulham (A) lose 1-0 Stoke (H) win 2-0 Hull (A) draw 1-1 West Ham (A) lose 2-1 Liverpool (H) draw 2-2 Palace (A) draw 2-2 Norwich (H) win 3-
Patrick Bateman Posted 12 January, 2014 Share Posted 12 January, 2014 14 points I think. Sunderland are now on form just in time for us to play them. Arsenal are simply too good. Hull are a good side at home and we'll struggle against Liverpool I think. So I'll go; Sunderland - L Arsenal - L Fulham - W Stoke - W Hull - D West Ham - D Liverpool - L Palace - W Norwich - W

Cabrone Posted 12 January, 2014 Share Posted 12 January, 2014 First target to get the 12 points to guarantee safety then FA Cup should become the main focus. If we could reignite our challenge for top 6 then great but we'd have to have some unbelievable form to get higher than 8th so I really can't see it now. We are safe. Right now. Safe. We're not going down. We're not going for a European slot either - 8th or 9th is us - so lets hope we have a good go at the cup. Agree. We have 17 games left. In last 17 last season we got 23 points. Even worst teams Wigan. Reading and QPR got 18, 15 and 12. Do as bad as the terrible already down QPR and we will have had an amazing drop in form but still safe on 42! We should cruise 20 points which would give us enough for 8 last season. The most likely outcome is a battle between us and Newcastle for 8th. Wouldn't write of 7th but that is more to do with fitness of Rooney / RVP and pressure on their manager. Which is why we don't 'need' a January signing unless it is a good longterm signing. Pretty sure both Man U and Newcastle have some hard games coming up and still to come to us. adrian lord Posted 12 January, 2014 Share Posted 12 January, 2014 I think we can just about overhaul Newcastle if we have no more serious injury problems and hit form again, they are good on their day but we can rely on their inconsistency and terrible luck to undo them. I dream of finishing above Manure, but that is going to be hard. Them and Spurs never seem to fall as low as their press hysteria would suggest. M271 Posted 16 March, 2014 Share Posted 16 March, 2014 Well the 9 league games from this thread are now completed and the result was 15 points, more than the pessimistic 10 points which I predicted. NickG Posted 16 March, 2014 Share Posted 16 March, 2014 Damn, I predicted 14 points. One out. Anyone know why Glasgow Saint hasn't bumped the 'current form' thread for a while? Current form? I'm sure he will pick the most appropriate number of games - 7 7 games - 4th! only bettered by Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City Or 10 games - 6th Or 6 games - 7th only goal difference off 6th. Interesting that those who dig hard to slag saints off say; - we are miles off a top 6 side - we have been found out - this squad / style won't last season But current form, over 6, 7 or 10 games puts us right up as top side?! Only a guide as difficulty of games, (un)lucky goals etc quickly change a form table but interesting counter argument to trolls.

Window Cleaner Posted 16 March, 2014 Share Posted 16 March, 2014 Yep. We'll see how far off of a top 6 side we are at the end of the season. Not very far is my guess. Probably just the points lost in home defeats against Villa and Tottenham. Then again you could put those 6 points down to the home draws with West Ham, Stoke and Sunderland...not a very precise science.
