Faz Posted 10 January, 2014 Posted 10 January, 2014 Mr X said we were lucky, Batman asked why? I just offered a couple of reasons why we may have been lucky. We have 700 posts moaning that Clattenburg didnt give us a penalty against Everton (boo hoo) but when we got our 3rd the Burnley keeper was fouled...... Not one complaint or post from the SWF massive! What are you suggesting - that Saints fans on a Saints Message board see things from a Saints point of view? Whatever next. What we really need is some self-appointed Bubble-bursters a to keep everyone else grounded. Ideal candidates would be those with about 17000 posts and nothing else to do but take a contrary view to everyone else.

Saint-Armstrong Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Anyone see Holloway's comment when asked about Mel and other La Liga managers coming to the Prem? "I'm not one of these foreign fellers who gets a job because he's known Jose Mourinho for 10 minutes. Or met him on a train."
SaintRichmond Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 I get the impression for the BBC's match preview that Simon Brotherton is not a fan of Saints this week... "Southampton, who according to their manager are missing out on some decisions this season because they're too nice, ended up with only nine on the pitch by the final whistle." Match Facts - Southampton Southampton are without a clean sheet in five home league matches, having kept four in a row in September and October. Despite their reputation as a neat passing team, statistically they play more long balls per game (an average of 70) than any other side in the Premier League. Their players have been caught offside 63 times this season, more than other side. Adam Lallana has been dispossessed 48 times this campaign, more than any other player in the division, while Jay Rodriguez has lost the ball due to a poor touch more times (52) than any other. All Pochettino needs to do is change tactics ............ like press higher up the pitch ....... you know, like they used to. That could work (again)

ericofarabia Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Crap!! Al Jism v EPL argumenet rumbles on so no Barasti Bar with @dubaisaints . Sat at home home listening to Merry Dave and having a peak at any wrist slashing on here if we aren't 6 - 0 up by HT.
Tom28 Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Nothing quite like the feeling you get when you wake up and its game day....COYR!!!
InvictaSaint Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Sky Sports ticker tape saying Lambert and Gaston are doubts. Hadn't seen this anywhere else; anyone any the wiser? No Lambert, with Osvaldo banned would be bad news.

davefizzy14 Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 I'm going for a 1-0 win with Lambert scoring - COYR
InvictaSaint Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Lambert has been in all the training pics all week. Gaston not so much Thanks. That is reassuring at least!

No Lambert, with Osvaldo banned would be bad news. That is a worry. West Brom's centre halves are slow but away from home they'll play too deep for Rodriguez to thrive up front on his own.

The game comes to soon for Victor Wanyama, who is back in light training, while Rickie Lambert and Gastón Ramírez look set to feature despite picking up knocks against Burnley Read more at http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/pochettino-were-getting-stronger-1285000.aspx#cEM5k2owUYd7IRLJ.99

DuncanRG Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Pleased to see Mulumbu's a doubt. Their man of the match at the Hawthorns in August
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Pleased to see Mulumbu's a doubt. Their man of the match at the Hawthorns in August Yep gave away the penalty. Had a great game

Those stats are damning and make for dispiriting reading.
Supersubpuckett Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Those stats are damning and make for dispiriting reading. I don't think so, depends on the context; Southampton are without a clean sheet in five home league matches, having kept four in a row in September and October. SO WE MANAGE ABOUT 50% CLEAN SHEETS AT HOME, NOT TOO BAD Despite their reputation as a neat passing team, statistically they play more long balls per game (an average of 70) than any other side in the Premier League. HOW DO OUR SHORT PASSES COMPARE, DON'T WE HAVE ONE OF THE HIGHEST COMPLETION %? Their players have been caught offside 63 times this season, more than other side. BECAUSE WE PLAY LOTS OF ATTACKING FOOTBALL? Adam Lallana has been dispossessed 48 times this campaign, more than any other player in the division, while Jay Rodriguez has lost the ball due to a poor touch more times (52) than any other. LALLANA'S GAME IS CENTRED AROUND RUNNING AT DEFENCES SO NO SURPRISE WITH THAT J-ROD - MMM, OK MAYBE SO AND HIS FINAL BALL ISN'T GREAT AND PERHAPS HE SHOULD BE SCORING MORE GOALS FOR THE NUMBER OF DECENT CHANCES HE GETS BUT HE'S STILL SCORED 9 GOALS HALF WAY THROUGH THE SEASON SO SHOULD FINISH ON HIGH TEENS....MORE THAN LAMBERT LAST YEAR

Dalek2003 Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 I'll be happy with a win, however scruffy. 3 points will go a long way to appeasing my doubts, however irrational they may be.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Crap!! Al Jism v EPL argumenet rumbles on so no Barasti Bar with @dubaisaints . Its raining today and wet at Barasti and so unlikely to have scantily clad women around coming off the beach! So nice and warm at home with Merry Dave it is! The match is shown later on the new ALJISM at 1.45 AM but it is in full HD. So a stream must be available on the PC!
pangy Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Lambert to score the winner and kisses the badge in his celebration to show us he is going nowhere
Saint Garrett Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Boruc; Clyne Fonte Lovren Shaw; Morgan Cork; Davis Lallana JRod; Lambert. Davis Chambers Gaston Yoshi Guly Gallagher JWP
skintsaint Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 MOTD's Simon Brotherton at St Mary'sSouthampton v West Brom (1500 GMT)"Southampton are on a poor run of results with just one win in the last nine and have suffered from both a tough schedule overall in recent weeks and some defensive errors, certainly in the match I saw at home to Spurs. "They were as high as third at the start of November but have dropped to ninth. A top-four finish was always unrealistic but they're better than the recent run suggests and their four goals against Burnley in the FA Cup should have helped bolster confidence ahead of this one."
Pastor Patrón Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Boruc; Clyne Fonte Lovren Shaw; Morgan Cork; Davis Lallana JRod; Lambert. Davis Chambers Gaston Yoshi Guly Gallagher JWP No excuses about injuries if we don't win today, that's a solid first 11 that should be capable of beating west brom at home. If that does end up being the team of course
Olallana Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport 1m Artur Boruc out on pitch at St Mary's warming up early - either a fitness test or he's playing - we'll find our soon enough #saintsfc Edit: Stupid to think one could beat trousers with a retweet....
saint michael Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Down side is I can't even have a bloody beer for another 8 days grrrrrrr. Spoke to them again this week and they haven't a clue when they will get this resolved. Still money spent on new brand well spent.....
trousers Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 @SouthamptonFC: He's back! Artur Boruc starts for #SaintsFC against @WBAFCofficial. Full team to follow. http://t.co/1c5SmXEz9v

I have the advantage of being at the stadium
SNSUN Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Win this, and we're 9 points clear of WBA. Lose, and they close Big game this if we want to keep ourselves isolated from everyone else around us! :-D
Olallana Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 No Chambers or other fullback on the bench. Let´s just hope Clyne or Shaw dont pick up an injury...
igsey Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Our first choice back five is reunited! Finally! West Brom seem to be going for a 4-4-2, with Long and Anelka both starting. Mulumbu is in.
Twiggy Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Chambers misses out due to illness apparently.
trousers Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 I guess Cork and Yoshida are our 'emergency' full back cover
SNSUN Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 No Chambers or other fullback on the bench. Let´s just hope Clyne or Shaw dont pick up an injury... Otherwise back to the strongest possible line up, Wanyama excepted. Good to see. As for full back cover, Cork and Yoshida have both covered them in the past, though God forbid if Shaw picks up his regular knock and the left footed Jos comes on at full back....
DG Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Our first choice back five is reunited! Finally! Yep great to have Boruc back (and Guly on the bench :E)
Saint_Tony Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Best line up we've had for 2 months, expecting a big performance today
The9 Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 No Chambers or other fullback on the bench. Let´s just hope Clyne or Shaw dont pick up an injury... Not too worried about it, Yoshida or Hooiveld can slot in and have done before, we just lose a bit of width going forward. We'd probably put Fonte at RB - though maybe not if it goes all Villa on us, and you have to think West Brom are looking at going long and countering, it's their strength and how they played last season when they were successful.
dubai_phil Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Boruc is back Woo Hoo! Sweepstake on the time of his howler to have the match thread all braying for a return of KD & MP out as he hadn't recovered fully?
M271 Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 No excuses. 1st string side (except Wanyama), at home against non top 6 side, weather fair. Lets get back to the form which we had earlier in the season.
K,Billy's supersound Posted 11 January, 2014 Posted 11 January, 2014 Boruc is back Woo Hoo! Sweepstake on the time of his howler to have the match thread all braying for a return of KD & MP out as he hadn't recovered fully? 12th minute. Glassmoan and co to post 0.5 secs later.
