Mr X said we were lucky, Batman asked why? I just offered a couple of reasons why we may have been lucky.

We have 700 posts moaning that Clattenburg didnt give us a penalty against Everton (boo hoo) but when we got our 3rd the Burnley keeper was fouled...... Not one complaint or post from the SWF massive!

What are you suggesting - that Saints fans on a Saints Message board see things from a Saints point of view? Whatever next.

What we really need is some self-appointed Bubble-bursters a to keep everyone else grounded. Ideal candidates would be those with about 17000 posts and nothing else to do but take a contrary view to everyone else.

Penalty on JWP, innit.

I get the impression for the BBC's match preview that Simon Brotherton is not a fan of Saints this week...

"Southampton, who according to their manager are missing out on some decisions this season because they're too nice, ended up with only nine on the pitch by the final whistle."

Match Facts - Southampton

Southampton are without a clean sheet in five home league matches, having kept four in a row in September and October.

Despite their reputation as a neat passing team, statistically they play more long balls per game (an average of 70) than any other side in the Premier League.

Their players have been caught offside 63 times this season, more than other side.

Adam Lallana has been dispossessed 48 times this campaign, more than any other player in the division, while Jay Rodriguez has lost the ball due to a poor touch more times (52) than any other.

All Pochettino needs to do is change tactics ............ like press higher up the pitch ....... you know, like they used to. That could work (again)

Sky Sports ticker tape saying Lambert and Gaston are doubts. Hadn't seen this anywhere else; anyone any the wiser? No Lambert, with Osvaldo banned would be bad news.

That is a worry. West Brom's centre halves are slow but away from home they'll play too deep for Rodriguez to thrive up front on his own.

The game comes to soon for Victor Wanyama, who is back in light training, while Rickie Lambert and Gastón Ramírez look set to feature despite picking up knocks against Burnley

I don't think so, depends on the context;

Southampton are without a clean sheet in five home league matches, having kept four in a row in September and October.

SO WE MANAGE ABOUT 50% CLEAN SHEETS AT HOME, NOT TOO BAD

Despite their reputation as a neat passing team, statistically they play more long balls per game (an average of 70) than any other side in the Premier League.

HOW DO OUR SHORT PASSES COMPARE, DON'T WE HAVE ONE OF THE HIGHEST COMPLETION %?

Their players have been caught offside 63 times this season, more than other side.

BECAUSE WE PLAY LOTS OF ATTACKING FOOTBALL?

Adam Lallana has been dispossessed 48 times this campaign, more than any other player in the division, while Jay Rodriguez has lost the ball due to a poor touch more times (52) than any other.

LALLANA'S GAME IS CENTRED AROUND RUNNING AT DEFENCES SO NO SURPRISE WITH THAT

J-ROD - MMM, OK MAYBE SO AND HIS FINAL BALL ISN'T GREAT AND PERHAPS HE SHOULD BE SCORING MORE GOALS FOR THE NUMBER OF DECENT CHANCES HE GETS BUT HE'S STILL SCORED 9 GOALS HALF WAY THROUGH THE SEASON SO SHOULD FINISH ON HIGH TEENS....MORE THAN LAMBERT LAST YEAR

Its raining today and wet at Barasti and so unlikely to have scantily clad women around coming off the beach! So nice and warm at home with Merry Dave it is! The match is shown later on the new ALJISM at 1.45 AM but it is in full HD.

So a stream must be available on the PC!

MOTD's Simon Brotherton at St Mary'sSouthampton v West Brom (1500 GMT)"Southampton are on a poor run of results with just one win in the last nine and have suffered from both a tough schedule overall in recent weeks and some defensive errors, certainly in the match I saw at home to Spurs.

"They were as high as third at the start of November but have dropped to ninth. A top-four finish was always unrealistic but they're better than the recent run suggests and their four goals against Burnley in the FA Cup should have helped bolster confidence ahead of this one."

Artur Boruc out on pitch at St Mary's warming up early - either a fitness test or he's playing - we'll find our soon enough #saintsfc

Edit: Stupid to think one could beat trousers with a retweet.... :)

I have the advantage of being at the stadium :)

No Chambers or other fullback on the bench.

Let´s just hope Clyne or Shaw dont pick up an injury...

Otherwise back to the strongest possible line up, Wanyama excepted. Good to see. As for full back cover, Cork and Yoshida have both covered them in the past, though God forbid if Shaw picks up his regular knock and the left footed Jos comes on at full back....

Not too worried about it, Yoshida or Hooiveld can slot in and have done before, we just lose a bit of width going forward. We'd probably put Fonte at RB - though maybe not if it goes all Villa on us, and you have to think West Brom are looking at going long and countering, it's their strength and how they played last season when they were successful.
