Poch says no intention of signing any players in this window, in theory. However, 22 days to go and things may possibly change in that time. Make of that what you will ...

What I make of that carefully worded reply is that we will be signing someone :)

So, we could be back to our 'first choice' back 5 vs WBA then....

Boruc

Clyne - Fonte - Lovren - Shaw

Cork - Schneiderlin

Davis - Lallana - JRod

Lambert

Subs: Davis, Chambers, Yoshida/Hooiveld, Ramirez, JWP, Guly, Gallagher

Yep, I did think it was a bit tortuous as an answer.. Perhaps he's said who he'd like _in theory_ and is leaving it to NC...

We certainly won't be like WH, so perhaps they meant - we have no intention of getting anyone we don't _really_ want.

Sounds like Boruc will start to me from watching that. Poch no good at poker

“Artur is fit and he may play or he may not play,” said Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Well, that's clear then.

if boruc is back, I really fancy us to win

lallana is unplayable at the mo, few players got a bit of a rest last weekend

almost back to a full team

just get big vic back and we are there

It's not like you ease a keeper back in with a few minutes here or there. They either think he's fit to return or not, and I'm sure he is. Hope he doesn't take long to find form anyway. He had a good game at Chelsea before the injury. Think he'd only conceded 7 goals by then, and since he's been out….oh dear.

thing is, we all know he is a bit mad but he is so capable of match winning saves. the way he commanded his box was excellent and he is not bad at 1-1's

my team

Boruc

Clyne

Fonte

Lovren

Shaw

Cork

Morgan

Davis

Lallana

Rodriguez

Lambert

Davis, chambers, Yoshida, JWP, Guly, Ramirez, Osvaldo/Gallagher

Think Ossie is still banned.

Boruc; Clyne Fonte Lovren Shaw; Morgan Cork; Lallana Davis JRod; Lambert

Team pretty much picks itself!

He has only served 1 game of his 3 match ban. He will miss the West Brom and Sunderland games and will be back for the Yeovil FA Cup game.

We have not won at home (league) for over two months.... This needs to end on Saturday!

Both teams are in poor form, just hope mopos departure rumours dont affect the players / preperation

Going for a cheeky 2-1 Saints :)

Pepe Mel appointed as West Brom's new Head Coach.

He's not played or managed outside of Spain, save for a 1 year spell in Brazil.

Good luck with that WBA! (Yes I know Poch hadn't manged here before but he'd played in quite a few countries and for his national side)

I personally think this game has a draw written all over it, but with the injuries coming to an end, irrespective of their new manager choice, we have the ability to nick this. 2 winnable games coming up, and if we have ANY aspirations of keeping up with the top 8, we need to win both.

They beat in form Newcastle in their last league game. That's more than enough for me to be concerned, never mind how they took us apart the last time we played them at SMS. We will need to be at our best to win.

I thought we shaded the game at their place, but a draw would probably have been fair. Malumbu was the class act in that game. They looked decent in midfield, but really short up front. Angelka was poor. Sessingnon and berahino have improved their options greatly.

I think a 2-2 draw.

They were poor in the first game -and we utterly bossed their midfield without working their keeper much. They only really rallied at the end of the game.

Just listening to some La Liga journo chap on talksport and he said Mel is very much in the Pochettino mould... Build from the back, high pressing game....and can't speak much English :)

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and all that.

To be honest, even though they've appointed a manager, there is absolutely no change whatsoever he'll be able to implement by Saturday. So, basically, we'll still be playing with their caretaker in charge.

Pepe Mel is a good coach, well respected in Spain. Should stop West Brom's slide, they've been really bad recently. I was especially disappointed to see them go "the Fulham way" with the signing of Anelka and the like.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25677329:

"His tenuous grasp of English (he's learning it) shouldn't be a major issue if he demonstrates coaching acumen like Mauricio Pochettino has since arriving at Southampton a year ago. Pochettino still can't trust his English in public, but he's a very fine coach."

At least it's not the usual "he doesn't speak English at all"...

Ours looks better when you include last weekend's Cup games

That is true! Cup games are a little different though but was good to get a somewhat lucky win

I get the impression for the BBC's match preview that Simon Brotherton is not a fan of Saints this week...

"Southampton, who according to their manager are missing out on some decisions this season because they're too nice, ended up with only nine on the pitch by the final whistle."

Match Facts - Southampton

Southampton are without a clean sheet in five home league matches, having kept four in a row in September and October.

Despite their reputation as a neat passing team, statistically they play more long balls per game (an average of 70) than any other side in the Premier League.

Their players have been caught offside 63 times this season, more than other side.

Adam Lallana has been dispossessed 48 times this campaign, more than any other player in the division, while Jay Rodriguez has lost the ball due to a poor touch more times (52) than any other.

Our 3rd goal? foul on keeper?

Burnley hitting the post?

We're you at the game? There wasn't a moment where I thought we would lose (well only a few minutes!!!). We were in control for most of it, less a few defensive lapses. The scoreline and tv highlights didn't reflect the majority of the game. Apologies if you did go...but my perception was that we weren't going to lose at any point. Great game though!

Mr X said we were lucky, Batman asked why? I just offered a couple of reasons why we may have been lucky.

We have 700 posts moaning that Clattenburg didnt give us a penalty against Everton (boo hoo) but when we got our 3rd the Burnley keeper was fouled...... Not one complaint or post from the SWF massive!
