Can you imagine if he made that Arsenal error in the WC? The press would destroy him.

Situation probably wouldn't arise in the WC, most French,Italian and Spanish refs would have penalised Giroud for the little shove,(he's a known expert at it) it's only UK refs that don't see that sort of thing or consider it as a bit of give and take. Canal's TV expert ref said he'd have blown up for the shove in the chest. English refs let everything go because they believe that it's up to them to apply the rules as they see them and not as the letter of the law. This is why there are so many reffing disputes nowadays, refs don't have any consistency whatsoever.

OTHER GOSSIP

West Brom are expected to appoint former Werder Bremen head coach Thomas Schaaf, 52, as their new manager ahead of the game against Southampton on Saturday.

We desperately need three points in order to get an injection of confidence in the team. If we do, we could go on a mini run that will hopefully see us past that 40 point benchmark.

A defeat and the alarm bells start.

Yep, we are half way through the season with 27 points, probably need another ten to twelve max, to be safe, a really perilous position to be in, I'm bricking it.

Again, mods, why do you keep letting idiots like this deliberately try and ruin the forum? You can say ignore it, but it takes over so many threads just posting the exact same things trying to get a reaction.

This forum has mods?

Well they say you learn something new every day.

A brilliant example of how to be wrong in so many ways, so many times in just 3 sentences.

Impressive stuff.

Is it me or is it a tad quiet this with in official Saints twitter land this week? No snippets of training; No word on when today's press conference is taking place; etc. I guess the PR dept could be on a well earned few days break after the busy Christmas period and/or waiting for the Clattenburg 'furore' to die down...?

I like the comment someone has added.. Ricky?!

pity he's made an idiot of himself though. Bring and Buy, Brought and Bought, mistake that you'd never get in the days of scout's jumble sales, everyone knew the difference. But hey let's be generous and put it down to Tapatalk or T9 or whatever it is.

You need to get out there and start teaching English to the ignorant masses Sue.

also reffed losses for us against city, sunderland, and qpr last year. overall record with mark clattenburg or howard webb reffing in the last two seasons: 0 wins, 4 draws, 7 losses. interesting...

Got be a draw then

Still no appointment. One could still have a psychological impact, but it's too late now for them to actually do anything before the game so that's a bonus.

They're obviously having difficulty in finding a suitable candidate and then making their club attractive to him. Downing will probably get the job in the end and in that case they could have spared themselves the expense of sacking Clarke in the first place.
