SNSUN Posted 22 January, 2014 Share Posted 22 January, 2014 My God, Old Trafford emptied quick! Moyes hasn't become a bad manager overnight, but perhaps the United job was out of his league. Time will tell.
Batman Posted 22 January, 2014 Share Posted 22 January, 2014 Don't especially like him but still don't think it's all his fault. It's such an average squad. Take RVP and Rooney out and there's just so little quality. true BUT it did win the league by 11 points that is one heck of a turn around to being way off the pace now. probably wont even get 4th

Take RVP and Rooney out and there's just so little quality. I'd take Hernandez in a heartbeat but he rarely gets a look in for United. If they can sign Mata, it's a possibility they could save their season, either by the most unlikely of European Cup wins or by scraping into 4th, which again is unlikely. SNSUN Posted 22 January, 2014 Share Posted 22 January, 2014 They have own nothing yet They won't either After the season they've had, I bet none of the Sunderland fans thought they'd be going to Wembley. Strangely, if they survive the drop, I'm sure they'd view this season as a success. Although I can see a Swansea-Bradford type scoreline in the final... Griffo Posted 22 January, 2014 Share Posted 22 January, 2014 Can't begin to imagine how good it would feel being in that away end winning to get into a final tonight with Saints. I'm sure the joy that finishing in the top half will be just as good as the feeling of winning tonight and going to Wembley though!
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 22 January, 2014 Share Posted 22 January, 2014 Mata is top quality, but not sure it's what they need most. Kagawa doesn't get in much, and i'd take him at Saints very gladly. They have no central midfield platform to build on. You can have a great creator or striker but if there's nothing behind them you'll be in trouble and they get overrun all the time. Jones is a CB, Fletcher isn't fit, Cleverley is poor and Carrick slow and injury prone. Worst options I've seen them have seen Kleberson and Djemba-Djemba! Amazed they didn't spend big on 2 CMs. I agree. I think Moyes knew this, or the club too really. What is quite worrying for them was their inability to get the players they wanted in. That's not really been a problem for them before.

Amazed they didn't spend big on 2 CMs. I think Mata is the type of player they're lacking, they don't really have a true number 10 in there. But they also need some top class support behind him, at least 1 new CM...but probably 2. I'd also say they need a new top, top, top CB. and a new Top class left back, experienced and mature. They don't need a complete rebuild, but they're lacking 3-4 top class players in that spine.

I think their top 4 challenge will be long way finished by then, 5th is the highest they can get this year in my opinion. Liverpool and Spurs are just a level above them squad wise at this moment in time.
Batman Posted 22 January, 2014 Share Posted 22 January, 2014 They need to spend £100m to catch up to city or Chelsea today. Seeing as those two clubs will spend loads in the summer, united will need to spend £200m just to catch up

Saint Fan CaM Posted 23 January, 2014 Share Posted 23 January, 2014 We should saunter into the next round, even with our 2nd string out. But the cup usually turns that logic on irs head.
