Badger Posted 18 January, 2014 Share Posted 18 January, 2014 it is going to be anyway. for me, goal achieved. establish ourselves in the top half and not get into a relegation fight at all sets up next season nicely should we really pay someone £90k a week to move up 1 more place? Assuming of course its not back to a revolving door this summer, new manager, rip it all up and start all over again ?

Because its a position we needed to strengthen anyway. Would give any signing half a season to bed in and be ready for next.
S-Clarke Posted 18 January, 2014 Share Posted 18 January, 2014 Yeah, way too much is up in the air to assume we're setting up anything for next season, yet. Personally, I think it will be a summer of complete upheaval and next season won't be as good as a result, that's why I want us to make the most of this year and finish as strong as we can. Badger Posted 18 January, 2014 Share Posted 18 January, 2014 Would be a bit of a wimpy to end the season though, after such promise. I hope the FA Cup keeps it interesting, but given our attitude to the cups recent seasons I won't count on it.

Not if KL's commited to the club and it's business as usual as some are claiming on here. As I say it will be an interesting test of her commitment. It was a position that was crying out for strengthening before the injury. And whether she's here or someone else will be strengthened before the start of next season. Badger Posted 18 January, 2014 Share Posted 18 January, 2014 if that isthe case, then what is the point in getting new players in now if the manager is going Fair question. Immediate answer is for continual squad improvement, but can we attract with this uncertainty hanging over ? Unfortunately I suspect KL and MP will be playing a bit of 'cat and mouse' or 'bluff' with each other over the next few weeks, neither knowing what the others intentions are, and neither really being prepared to show their own hand. What hand has Pochettino got to conceal? At the end of the season he'll look at who owns and runs the club, how the season went in the end, the players he's got, the finance available to him and offers from other clubs before making a decision. A lot of managers will be doing the same.
shurlock Posted 18 January, 2014 Share Posted 18 January, 2014 if that isthe case, then what is the point in getting new players in now if the manager is going ??? Because our transfer committee/system is designed to ensure that any player isn't the personal whim of the incumbent manager but fits the overall vision of how the club wants to play. I am actually a bit worried about next season already. Really hope we can sort out whether the club is being sold or not quickly. If it's to be sold then I hope this sale happens before the end of the season otherwise what happens to new signings in the summer? And the manager and current players? Obviously still a long way off but worrying all the same. Unless of course Cortese comes back with a buyer.

Matthew Le God Posted 18 January, 2014 Share Posted 18 January, 2014 I don't think the Lovren injury is as bad as some people are making out. Just when he was starting to look the part too.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 January, 2014 Share Posted 31 January, 2014 We have two confirmed targets. Approved by transfer committee, no news if we have moved for them yet. What happened?

MarkSFC Posted 1 February, 2014 Share Posted 1 February, 2014 Are you genuinely trying to be ironic or are you just a bit of a tit ? It wasn't even aimed at you, that's quite sad in itself. Ironic or a tit, which do I choose? Actually neither. I stated my opinion of someone's statement of worry without any factual basis or comment. Those people are what the gutter press rely on.
