spyinthesky Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 Are all three still training with Saints or are they left to their own devices whilst continuing to pick up a weekly wedge?
nta786 Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 lol, I found Aaron Martin in the Co Op around 2/3 weeks ago and he said he was training with the reserves. He also said its unlikely to get in the first team too :/ which I could understand when Fonte, Lovren, Yoshida and Hooiveld are in front of you :/
Patrick Bateman Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 Out of all of them; Martin is the one player I though would have been able to learn and kick on. We're not exactly blessed with young centre backs, so I was surprised by his "exclusion". The others not so. Although saying that, I just checked and he's the same age as Dejan . . . . . .

He did a job for us, but wasn't ever that good. Could do a decent job in L2 or L1 though.
Greenridge Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 He did a job for us, but wasn't ever that good. Could do a decent job in L2 or L1 though. Still not back to full fitness following his op and a follow-on niggle. It will be L1.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 Damn good question and one that would be nice if the club answered. Lots of things that aren't pleasant gets swept under the St Marys carpet but god forbid I said so
Batman Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 Damn good question and one that would be nice if the club answered. Lots of things that aren't pleasant gets swept under the St Marys carpet but god forbid I said so nudge nudge, wink wink who has asked public questions about these players? did anyone ask MP prior to the chelsea game, or any game????
Glasgow_Saint Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 Damn good question and one that would be nice if the club answered. Lots of things that aren't pleasant gets swept under the St Marys carpet but god forbid I said so Barnard alluded to some of it on facebook a while back, but then deleted it.
Batman Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 Barnard alluded to some of it on facebook a while back, but then deleted it. what did he say
Lets B Avenue Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 what did he say "I've got so much time on my hands that I go on a Saints related website, pretending to support them from Scotland and post unremitting sh ite every day and all day. They better sell me soon. " I think this is what he said.
Saint in Paradise Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 "I've got so much time on my hands that I go on a Saints related website, pretending to support them from Scotland and post unremitting sh ite every day and all day. They better sell me soon. " I think this is what he said. How do you know that Gotham City is in Scotland? Can't see it on Google Earth. ;)

Glasgow_Saint Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 That would explain why he a) has so much time to post bullsh*t all the time and b) is such a bitter, weird, prat. I am flattered by the attention Pat, but the attention you give me should be shared or others will get jealous. You could also use one of your 3 daily posts just to post about Saints? PM me and ill give you my number so you cant text me in private xxx Your obsession is scary, but i love it (Y) Shut up, get out of your bedsit and get a life you dull repetitive pr*t. F**king boring unfunny pr*ck. He's ('Glasgow Saint') as funny as death. F**king boring pr*ck. Shut up you f*cking stupid boring skate pr*ck. Surprised you got that much. Thick portsmouth dinlo
The Cat Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 lol, I found Aaron Martin in the Co Op around 2/3 weeks ago and he said he was training with the reserves. He also said its unlikely to get in the first team too :/ which I could understand when Fonte, Lovren, Yoshida and Hooiveld are in front of you :/ I wonder what % of his wages Co-op are paying us. Good move for them to get him on loan, especially at this crucial stage of the season when all the high up decorations in the shop need sorting.
melmacian_saint Posted 4 January, 2014 Posted 4 January, 2014 How much did we actually pay Eastleigh to get him? 10 Saints store vouchers and a bag of footballs used by the first team in training?
the saint in winchester Posted 4 January, 2014 Posted 4 January, 2014 All Championship and L1 players that are a victim of our success, sadly. Their future will be elsewhere.
david in sweden Posted 4 January, 2014 Posted 4 January, 2014 All Championship and L1 players that are a victim of our success, sadly. Their future will be elsewhere. Once again highlighting the fact that " the gap" between Championship standard, and that of the Prem. is more of an abyss, and most players just don't make it . IMO I think we're very fortunate that; Lallana, Lambert, Schneiderlin, Fonte and even KD have " survived " the transition from L1. Many others found their true level - very quickly. The passage up from the bottom of L1... to the Prem has been made at warp speed (in footballing terms), and those mentioned earlier are just some who are still left on the books.
spyinthesky Posted 4 January, 2014 Author Posted 4 January, 2014 Just an aside to this, apart from say 10-12 Championship clubs who have deep pockets/wealthy owners, are there any other lower league clubs who actually pay transfer fees these days? Years ago fringe players from Prem clubs would generally have some value in the transfer market. I guess nowadays they are on such high wages that there is no benefit to them (or their Agents) to drop down a Division or two and the parent club has to subsidise wages rather than benefit from a transfer fee

Barry Sanchez Posted 4 January, 2014 Posted 4 January, 2014 The thought police will be on here in a minute, anything derogatory written against our great leader will be deleted as will the person who has written it. When Cortese played golf for the first time he scored a -43, a record that still stands.
Dr Who? Posted 4 January, 2014 Posted 4 January, 2014 Shame, but I think injuries will be the end of him.
Fan The Flames Posted 4 January, 2014 Posted 4 January, 2014 Damn good question and one that would be nice if the club answered. Lots of things that aren't pleasant gets swept under the St Marys carpet but god forbid I said so What is so bad here, club doesn't want the players anymore but hasn't managed to sell them, the players don't want to move and drop wages until contract is over. Saints continue to pay players but don't include them in training regime. They could all go tomorrow and carry on their career elsewhere, or am I missing something.
Saint Mikey Posted 4 January, 2014 Posted 4 January, 2014 What is so bad here, club doesn't want the players anymore but hasn't managed to sell them, the players don't want to move and drop wages until contract is over. Saints continue to pay players but don't include them in training regime. They could all go tomorrow and carry on their career elsewhere, or am I missing something. Spot on. The only thing you're missing is FF's agenda against the club. If these players want to leave and play in Lge 1, they will have to forgo the rest of their current contracts - on wages they're not likely to get close to ever again. Barnard for instance is reportedly on £14k a week, he'd get maybe £3k at best in Lge 1. Why not sit a year out, earn the money the club has promised to pay you and get another club next year. Whilst it's about playing football, it's also about earning a living in a short career. Especially if you're a lower league player like these 3. They all contributed to our rise and have been rewarded as per the contracts we agreed, I'd do exactly the same thing.
studentsaint Posted 4 January, 2014 Posted 4 January, 2014 You fan ask Martin yourself he's always in the Costa near thornhill. Not exaggerating, he is ALWAYS there. I think he lives there.
RonManager Posted 12 January, 2014 Posted 12 January, 2014 Clapham Rangers FC @ClaphamFC7m @ClaphamFC can confirm tonight that Jonathan Forte has signed on a season long loan from Southampton FC.
Matthew Le God Posted 12 January, 2014 Posted 12 January, 2014 (edited) Clapham Rangers FC @ClaphamFC7m @ClaphamFC can confirm tonight that Jonathan Forte has signed on a season long loan from Southampton FC. That is the Twitter account linked to some random person's Football Manager Handheld 2014 game. This is Clapham Rangers... http://www.claphamrangersfc.com/ They are an under 13's team. It is probably a 12 year old's Twitter account. Edited 13 January, 2014 by Matthew Le God
RonManager Posted 12 January, 2014 Posted 12 January, 2014 Look at the other Tweets. That is the Twitter account of someone with a Twitter account linked to their Football Manager Handheld 2014 game. Ha, did seem a bit wtf?.
ThreeSixty Posted 13 January, 2014 Posted 13 January, 2014 In other news Barnard could be off to Bradford.
SaintBobby Posted 13 January, 2014 Posted 13 January, 2014 Have never undertsood why "surplus to requirements" players seem so had to get off the books. (not just at Saints). If Barnard, Forte and Martin are on - say - £10K a week, we may as well accept loan deals to recoup £2K or £3K a week. I appreciate there may be a bit of brinkmanship - try to get the loan club to pay £4k not £3k, try to get the player to accept a paycut rather than train with the stiffs, but the brinkmanship often seems to end in stalemate rather than compromise, which is in no one's interest really.
September Saint Posted 13 January, 2014 Posted 13 January, 2014 Can't see why we cannot loan out these players even if we pay all their wages (we're already doing that) It keeps them match fit and a lower league team could be ready to pay us something They must be bored rigid killing time.
SuperSAINT Posted 13 January, 2014 Posted 13 January, 2014 Pretty sure Barnard is on nearer 20k a week which is why it's been tricky to shift him.
SaintBobby Posted 13 January, 2014 Posted 13 January, 2014 Pretty sure Barnard is on nearer 20k a week which is why it's been tricky to shift him. So, what? Loan him out and recoup, say, £3K per week.
fish fingers Posted 13 January, 2014 Posted 13 January, 2014 Pretty sure Barnard is on nearer 20k a week which is why it's been tricky to shift him. 13k i think. It was said last season that Bournemouth were paying his 13k a week wages in full for his loan spell there.
moonraker Posted 13 January, 2014 Posted 13 January, 2014 Alternatively we could loan them all out, pay there wages and provide medical back up to our struggling neighbours.
Chez Posted 13 January, 2014 Posted 13 January, 2014 could we loan all our unwanted to Mansfield Wycombe Bury Bristol Rovers Accrington Torquay Northampton
Delboy Dave Posted 13 January, 2014 Posted 13 January, 2014 £13k a week for Barnard. No wonder he's happy to stay here and kick his heels! I'd sit on my arse for £670,000 a year
bpsaint Posted 20 January, 2014 Posted 20 January, 2014 I see Martin scored on his first game back from injury tonight for the Under 21's. Hopefully he can kick on and earn himself a move to a lower league team and get the first team football he deserves.
