Osvaldo Suspended

With Osvaldo I'm questioning more and more whether he's is who MP is referring to when he said :“It’s been a tough moment at this time because some of our players are having some personal problems that perhaps haven’t been talked about". Could all be just 2+2=5, of course, but it seemed a strange thing to publically come out with.

Jesus Perez seemed to think we will find out on this very soon.

If he does get banned you have to question the appeal when we knew he was injured anyway. He could have accepted the charge, have got the games done when injured and be available now.

Are we actually appealing though? Or just waiting for a judgement before we have anything to appeal or accept?

But it's pretty obvious that when we had to accept the charge (23rd December) we had hope of playing him in some of the upcoming games but then he got sick and couldn't, but once you've decided to ask for a personal hearing you can't go back on it just because it suits you as you have a case of Xmas Trots or Berri Berri or something. We did what we thought was best at the time and it didn't turn out as planned. He'll get 3 matches but perhaps there'll be a bit of leniency because he's not played since then.

9-y012gA_normal.jpeghttp://www.thefa.com/news/governance/2014/jan/dani-osvaldo-southampton-newcastle-violent-conduct-charge

Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, Southampton’s Dani Osvaldo has been suspended for three matches with immediate effect and fined £40,000 after a charge of violent conduct against him was found proven.

Osvaldo was charged by The FA following an incident which occurred in or around the 94th minute of his side’s game at Newcastle United on 14 December 2013.

Newcastle United coach Andy Woodman, who was sent to the stands following the same incident, has been fined £1,250 and warned as to his future conduct after he admitted a charge of improper conduct.

THe club knew what they were getting when they bought him. Clearly very hot headed and could have got in trouble at the Villa game and sent off against Sunderland (I think it was). You have to accept at least one three match ban with him a year I reckon. We'll now get a couple of months out of him at best this season.

Any idea what he actually did !? Heard rumours that they had a scrap in the tunnel and he kicked him in the balls, but only hearsay...would be interesting to hear what actually happened.
The Sun reported this at the time, using the term nuts rather than balls. Looks like we got off lightly, could have been 5 or more games, now he will only miss 2 league games pronsbly wouldn't have played in the cup anyway as he is only just back in training.

Just read on the BBC Sports Website that Dani has been given a three-match suspension and a £40.000(?) fine. Rough justice by the FA again as the Newcastle Coach only fined £1500.

Someone mentioned the fine was a weeks wages for each respective person involved.

Isn't this the sort of thing big clubs appeal and the number of games is reduced? Do we qualify for a 'big clubs ban discount' now we are in the Prem?

Nope we qualify for the spiteful "don't be so bloody insolent with your stupid appeal just for that we will increase the ban to 6 games" Double Whammy extra bonus............................... probably more so now we have stuck our stick in the referees hornets nest with Battenburg!!

Osvaldo should show more self control. Inexcusable for a player that cost us so much to act in an unprofessional manner.

but I only guessed at that because it seemed about right. He'll get fined by the club as well, perhaps the same amount so he'll be an unhappy boy for a while.

Why will he get fined by the club as well? They clearly believe he didn't do anything wrong as they appealed the charge.

Legend, love the bloke.

It's such a sterile and bland world, I for one welcome these little 'outbursts'. Genuine eccentricity is rare these days, most of it seems utterly contrived and Shoreditch-esque hipster nonsense.

Im with you on that one.

Like a bit of colour and character to our players. I was brought up watching Jm Steele, Steve Williams, Ossie, Mark Dennis, Jimmy Case, Razor et al. Ossie in particular is a legend for sticking up for a young Williams, sticking it to Bailey and then trashing Ewood Park after the match.

Much rather someone getting stuck in down the tunnel than an Oscaresque diver.

Would that be your attitude if someone kicked you in the balls one day at work?
