petermcpete Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Looking at this it seems there is serious flooding predicted....St Mary's, central station amongst other places. http://maps.environment-agency.gov.uk/wiyby/mapFromCMSCodes?topic=fwa&lang=_e&codes=065WAC151&layerGroup=1#x=441237&y=111280&lg=1,&scale=8 Will Saturday's game be on?
John Boy Saint Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Looks like we will be playing the Subs then. hat, coat, door not banging on my aR$e!!
Colinjb Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Being 3ft above sea level was always going to be a problem eventually!
John Boy Saint Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Being 3ft above sea level was always going to be a problem eventually! But that was only when the Ice Caps melt and Southampton becomes Atlantis!!
bridge too far Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Why is the stadium a slightly lighter shade of purple I wonder?
John Boy Saint Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Those mooring posts on the Pavement down Northam road will be getting some use at last then!

stardustonmyfeet Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Unless I am mistaken, doesn't the map in the OP merely show the areas that receive flood warnings when a flood is imminent? It's in a flood risk zone as you might expect for the area but the EA isn't necessarily expecting a flood there According to the link below (via clicking on the purple sections) it only suggests that Bursledon Boat Yards will be at risk. http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/34681.aspx?area=065WAC151&page=1&type=Fwacode
beatlesaint Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 How lucky are we that in the almost 13 years since St Marys opened it hasn't been flooded yet ? Who would credit it eh ?
diggers Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Looks like we will be playing the Subs then. hat, coat, door not banging on my aR$e!! Submarines Obviously
kipstryker Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 There is no warning. That map shows areas where there could be a problem. My business is close to the ground. I can't get cover for flood damage. The environment agency ring me if there is a potential problem. They haven't so put your canoes and life jackets away.....
S-Clarke Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 The only issue there could be is with surface water on the pitch, from what will be a very, very wet couple of days. With a high tide, there won't be anywhere for it to really drain away to - so that could be a potential issue.
lifeintheslowlane Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 I've told them not to water the pitch at half time! If this is allowed to go on we're likely to lose at least one of the smaller half time relay runners.
SaintNeil90 Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Lock this thread... It is not due to be flooded at all.
Whitey Grandad Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Will mean the Skates can sneak in Is it going to freeze then?
Mr Dad Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 To be fair to OP (petermcpete) the EA web site does give cause for concern. However, the 'Echo' is warning about it too.. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/district/southampton/10911285.UPDATED__Flood_warnings_for_Southampton/ If the Echo says it might flood, it definately won't.
John Boy Saint Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Lock this thread... It is not due to be flooded at all. Hello Neil's being a damp squib!!
Dr Who? Posted 2 January, 2014 Posted 2 January, 2014 Oh and if it is not, it will be played, just at some other point of the season.
Barry the Badger Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 This map is doing the rounds on Facebook with people saying their homes are due to flood. Sigh.
Stevie61163 Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 will have to make sure the floodlights are on all match for this one
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 I'll take this opportunity to pass on my congratulations - for what its worth - to the groundstaff at St Marys. Our field of play there has always been in exceptionally good condition, but I can't remember it being quite as 'near perfect' as it is now, at this time of the year before. On Wednesday, despite more or less constant heavy rain, it didn't even 'cut up' at all as far as I could see. How they manage that in those conditions god alone knows. What a pity Chelsea made better use of it than we did.
kwsaint Posted 3 January, 2014 Posted 3 January, 2014 But that was only when the Ice Caps melt and Southampton becomes Atlantis!! You know this is part of NC's bigger plan. First football club then super villain stronghold.
