hypochondriac Posted 4 January, 2014 Share Posted 4 January, 2014 If we do, then at least we'll lose by giving it a bit of a go. That's all that's being asked for. Yep. It's good to see us taking it seriously.

Window Cleaner Posted 4 January, 2014 Share Posted 4 January, 2014 Calculation must be: in the league, little chance of Champions League, little chance of relegation. So why not go for it? A good cup run could be good for morale, supporters, finances.... Happy to see Mayuka play. Personally, think he's pretty strong. There were times last season when he was match-saver. With no Jay Rod or Osvaldo, this is Rickie's chance to shine again. Mayuka is at Sochaux you mean Yoshida

The Kraken Posted 4 January, 2014 Share Posted 4 January, 2014 Yep. It's good to see us taking it seriously. And to be fair we did last season against Chelsea (albeit we got an absolute spanking). Its only the League Cup that gets treated with derision, unfortunately.

Matthew Le God Posted 4 January, 2014 Share Posted 4 January, 2014 i feel like he's been rested for this game + will back for the prem match. We Will See. I think as Clyne is returning from injury and Chambers did well in his absence so they were happy to bring Clyne back gradually. Clyne starting today is getting him ready for next week. I think Chambers is still our 3rd choice fullback, behind Shaw and Clyne but ahead of Fox.

Not nearly so much in it as i would of expected when the season started tho. As charlie says he's been pretty un-hyped compared to shaw for example. Even you only gave him v.mediocre scores in the first issue of my Football Manager game, he ended up eeking out a career in lower leagues.

DuncanRG Posted 4 January, 2014 Share Posted 4 January, 2014 Clyne was on the bench for a few games and gradually reintegrated last time he came back from injury. He's our first choice but taking it slow helps him come back at full fitness and gives Chambers the benefits of a decent run in the team. Matthew Le God Posted 4 January, 2014 Share Posted 4 January, 2014 It's one thing to play yoshida or Hoiveld , but both together is pushing our luck. If it were a Championship game today would you not be happy with a centre back pairing of Hooiveld and Yoshida? Hooiveld has already proven himself to be a good Championship centre back even if he struggles in the Premier League.
hypochondriac Posted 4 January, 2014 Share Posted 4 January, 2014 If only we had a left footed chambers/clyne to push shaw It makes a nonsense of those people who said we couldn't sign a left back in the summer. Rb now has excellent competition and it's a shame we can't replicate that on the left. My preference would be for a decent lb who can also full in at CB. They'd be a decent enough paring in the championship if they played together every week. Thrown together in a scratch partnership tho i have my doubts! We sure as sh!t need another left back and a top defender Fonte and lovren are very good but as we have seen. When either of them are not up to it, we are in trouble

igsey Posted 4 January, 2014 Share Posted 4 January, 2014 Good to see Shaw and Clyne back together in the side, gives us real attacking ability down both flanks, instead of just one as it seems to be when one of them is out. Now watch as Shaw gets injured...
