eurosaint Posted 29 December, 2013 Share Posted 29 December, 2013 Gaston is an enigma but I feel that now could be a good time to give him a run in the first team to see just what he is capable of, if he doesn't shape up then well and good, he can be offloaded and replaced ! There will be plenty of takers as he clearly has a natural ability but it needs to be embedded within a team ethic ! In Pocho we trust !

melmacian_saint Posted 29 December, 2013 Share Posted 29 December, 2013 Feel sorry for JWP and Davis. They have pulled great shifts and played a great role in our great start to the season. Yet all that people seem to remember in this forum is that Gaston, an clearly gifted player but who has even failed to impress in most of his occasions this and last season since January, should play more. There have been several threads on the forum acknowledging how brilliant each of these players have been, it's a bit unfair for us to not do the same for Gaston when he performs no? Glasgow_Saint Posted 29 December, 2013 Share Posted 29 December, 2013 use "mopo" is beyond everyone here. Why give the manager of team you (supposedly) support a degrading nickname is just ridicolous. How is mopo degrading?
shirleysfc Posted 29 December, 2013 Share Posted 29 December, 2013 There was a very ironic cheer in the stands when he scored. That's because you were in the home end jizz face.
pimpin4rizeal Posted 29 December, 2013 Share Posted 29 December, 2013 Davis cork and wp do the simple things well, but when you want creativity gaston and lallana are the ones who can open up defences. Mp has done a good job with us but i cant help feeling that sometimes he is too negative, with the midfield and attack, its no wonder rickie and osvaldo have been struggling this year because its only really lallana capable of anything special with gaston on the bench! I concur. Mopo seems to have us over playing in the final 3rd. Reminds me of Arsenal a few seasons ago...... For all our decent play we only managed 2 shots on target all day!! Thats very poor. Everton had Robles making his 1st start, we saw from Gastons long range effort that his was a weak link but didnt take advantage at all
Bearsy Posted 29 December, 2013 Share Posted 29 December, 2013 Gaston wigs for the last away game then lads? lol i was gonna make the same enquiry! What was up with his hair? I weren't sure if it was a genuine mop top bowler job or if he had underwired it with an alice band or something. Either way, it looked v.special. david in sweden Posted 29 December, 2013 Share Posted 29 December, 2013 Gave his shirt to a disabled Everton (?) Fan after he scored. Got booked for it. Would love to see some common sense applied every now and again. Surprised he didn't get sent off for not having a number on his back thereafter. This has annoyed me in two ways.... I think the ruling was made because some players were using shirt fronts to do "unofficial advertising " especially when another sponsor has " bought " the shirt space, but now it's out of all proportion. but the thing that is worst is that (surely) any player who takes his shirt off (in celebration) knows he is going to be booked for doing so - so why do they do it? Do they want to get suspended? Also what constitutes " over-enthusiastic celebration "? . I noted that one of the recent goals scored against Saints (forgot just now) ended up with the scorer in the crowd (but with shirt on) but then most of his team-mates mobbed him afterwards......with everyone rolling on the ground .....and yet no-one was booked at all ? Consistancy in refereeing decisions - or lack of it - is the most annoying thing for fans and players. Getting beaten fair and square is one thing, but blatant incompetence is indefensible. Saints boy in Leeds Posted 29 December, 2013 Share Posted 29 December, 2013 As frustrating as he may be, the guy is sheer class and creates chances. He is what we are missing.......a genuine playmaker. If we can get him firing and Osvaldo back we will look more potent up front. Sadly Rickie looks like his legs have gone and we have so many hard workers in midfield but no-one who really looks dangerous (Lallana aside). I truly hope Gaston stays and develops into the player he could be.....not least to shut all the moronic haters up on this once decent site. I've only seen him Live a couple of times but when he's on form he looks good, saw him for the 4-1 win vs Villa last season and he looked class, saw him vs Barnsley in the cup and he did ok but I'll never forgot the chance he missed after about 10 mins, 1 on 1 and put it a good 5 yards wide from 8 yards out. ottery st mary Posted 29 December, 2013 Share Posted 29 December, 2013 And yet our best performances have come with the England trio up front. Agreed.....BUT we should have the options/combinations... To date we ...for various reasons not able to combine all these talents. I still live in hope........Osvaldo , Gaston and Lallana just gives you more of the unpredictability when trying to break down some teams. Horses for courses and MP knows best......I still dream of the alternative option of Osvaldo , Gaston and Adam....if in some matches we could put it in place.
