2. Poch to leave at the same time

3. Most of the best players leave

4. Poor start to season, and fans start talking about how the League One days were "actually miles better than beating Liverpool at Anfield".

MP suffers a traumatic episode following a botched attempt to conduct a press conference in English and is unable to communicate in his own native Spanish. Efforts to use sign language prove short-lived and unsuccessful. MP is forced to retire from football having guided saints to the champions league in his first and only full season.

I predict none of 1, 2, 3 or 4 will happen.

Instead:

- we will win a league game by 6 clear goals.

- Osvaldo will score a hatrick ... and also be sent off (in different games).

- At least 2 new players from the academy become regular starters.

- Adam Lallana wins player of the year for Saints and creates the goal that takes England through the group stages of the world cup

- We win thousands of new supporters who can't resist our brand of footballing entertainment.

Actually being serious here...

- Gaston sold

- we splash big bucks on a new keeper

- Shaw to Chelsea in the summer

- KD retires

- Osvaldo hits form

- Lallana one of the few positives of poor World Cup

- Jack Cork scores

- Poch completes TV interview in English

Saints finish 9th in the league and don't qualify for Europe

Gaston will either leave on loan or be sold

We splash big money on another CB (never seem to be able to produce good enough from academy so none of the young CBs in the squad now ever start a game)

Jay Rod finishes the season as our top scorer

Shaw stays despite concerted efforts and large offers from Chelsea (as do other young stars we want to keep)

Sam Gallagher will score a few goals and start challenging for regular first team action ahead of Lambert/Osvaldo

JWP will get an England call up after the world cup

Saints to finish in top 10

Gaston, Hooiveld, Fox, Lee, puncheon and cork will leave, kelvin will retire

MP will sign a new 3 year deal

rumours about NC leaving/club will be sold. Loads of nudge nudge wink winks about it on here. Nothing will happen

Saints will spend circa £40m in the summer on another 4-5 players

3 or so players will be promoted from academy

we will get knocked out of the league cup early, sparking fury on saints web

Lallana and Lambert will go to brazil

Do they use that South African guy?

which, of course, leads to our immediate relegation.

who knows, 6 points between today and Wednesday(yeah right) might even see us field the first XI against Burnley who may just want to concentrate on their NPC championship battle because they've been slipping recently.

And even if achieved the impossible and we didn't go down I'd still be left with the same hollow feeling at the end of the season that Swansea had last, a 9th placed finish and a cup win instead of finishing 6th would be so dull.

Would anyone prefer 9th plus cup over 6th?

Sorry if missed it but suspect not.
