adrian lord Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Just maybe we can inflict a second defeat in a row at Goodison Park and really derail their season while getting us right back on track. I bloody hope so. We need to bridge the gap to Spurs and Utd, not fall back towards Stoke....
beatlesaint Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Was that really 30 years ago that little runt Heath scored that goal ? Bloody hell, I need to move on, I've been haunted by that all this time.........
doggface Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Well Artur Boruc is in today's training gallery running with the team and he is wearing gloves. Chances are he is taking some shots on so could be very close
Window Cleaner Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Well Artur Boruc is in today's training gallery running with the team and he is wearing gloves. Chances are he is taking some shots on so could be very close ? he was doing that last week as well, MPo said definitely out for the festive games, what constitutes a "festive game" I just couldn't say.
Lighthouse Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 It was horrible, just horrible. Bloody Adrian bloody Heath - nothing hurts more than a goal like that. Apparently not. I'd have thought 30 years of trauma was more appropriate to an average rape, not losing a cup semi final. Why do people hate Heath so much too? According to his wiki, he is neither from nor has every played for Pompey.

Oh give me strength........I think we mean in footballing terms not in major trauma terms. Sorry for not making it clear in order to avoid confusion :-/
eelpie Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Our team is still way off full strength. We know the stand-ins can play together as we saw against Cardiff.....However, it is still a fragile set-up. IMO, it will all be down to confidence on the day. I predict a win, a draw, or a defeat for us. You forgot match abandoned because of weather.
Lighthouse Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Oh give me strength........I think we mean in footballing terms not in major trauma terms. Sorry for not making it clear in order to avoid confusion :-/ I'm being facetious but I don't really get why losing a semi final to a team who've never particularly been our rivals is so bad. We must have beaten Everton about 10 times since then. If none of those wins avenged our defeat in '84 I doubt a win on Sunday will either.
Faz Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 I spy pictures of Clyne, Lovren and Buruc (wearing keepers gloves) in training.
St Chalet Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 A lot of shots of KD making saves. Maybe he will come in for Gazzaniga.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Despite Gazzas improved performance vs Cardiff id still pick KD if he's fit. Gazza scares the life out of me and Everton will be looking to bounce back quickly after the sunderland defeat Notice Everton despite having 10 men ( v sunderand) still dominated possesion, had 25 shots and 11 corners
Saint Charlie Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Boruc doing "light training" according to Saints twitter
Batman Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Boruc doing "light training" according to Saints twitter Back for Chelsea...... I hope
Georgie Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 I don't expect Boruc to be back until West Brom game on 11th January, with Davis playing in the FA Cup game. Although I hope Davis is picked ahead of Gazzaniga for Everton and Chelsea. Despite the clean sheet yesterday Cardiff didn't really offer much of a threat, Everton will.
bender Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 The trick is to get one of their men sent off. Lets go for that big dark fellow up front.
Olallana Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Despite Gazzas improved performance vs Cardiff id still pick KD if he's fit. Gazza scares the life out of me and Everton will be looking to bounce back quickly after the sunderland defeat Notice Everton despite having 10 men ( v sunderand) still dominated possesion, had 25 shots and 11 corners So basically, they had a good performance?
austsaint Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Tough game; I keep thinking of the Man City game with a weakened side though when we conceded early and it looked like being a blow out. I know it won't happen but I'd consider playing Lovren in Morgan's role alongside Davis and Cork and leave Yoshida at CB. JWP just does not look a 90 minute player in an intense game and even his set piece and dead ball delivery has not been great lately.
Roger Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Boruc just posted on Instagram that he's nearly there!
Saint-Reece Posted 27 December, 2013 Posted 27 December, 2013 Simon Peach @SimonPeach 3m Good news #SaintsFC fans: Artur Boruc is nearly back pic.twitter.com/e03oglxHRm I'm guessing he probably won't make Everton, but fingers crossed for Chelsea!
egg Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 I'm not at all sure that Lovren didn't play as a DM on occasions at Lyon but then again they sometimes have strange ideas concerning their players' capacities. He did and is decent there. If we're down to the bones I'd expect to see him feature in a holding midfield role this season at some point.
Toadhall Saint Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 I'm being facetious but I don't really get why losing a semi final to a team who've never particularly been our rivals is so bad. We must have beaten Everton about 10 times since then. If none of those wins avenged our defeat in '84 I doubt a win on Sunday will either. Unless we have beaten them in the semi final of the FA cup in the last minutes then it has not been avenged. Back in 84 the cup really did mean something (still does to some). Saints had played away in every round with trips to Blackburn on a Friday, shef weds on a Sunday plus that lot down the road and notts forest. It seemed at the time as if we were destined to win the bloody thing.
spyinthesky Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Interesting piece on Southampton and the Saints team contained within Not exactly complimentary but I guess we are all big enough to take the adverse remarks. It is a bit embarrassing if the comments on the behaviour some of the (youthful) away support last year is correct
rick1976.4.38 Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Apparently not. I'd have thought 30 years of trauma was more appropriate to an average rape, not losing a cup semi final. Why do people hate Heath so much too? According to his wiki, he is neither from nor has every played for Pompey. seriously,if you were there, you'd know why it still hurts.,for us older ones it was a bitter pill to swallow not far off the dislike for pompey

Lambert1979 Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 What an absolute crock of sh£&. Makes Bearsy look like the poet laureate!
davefoggy Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 My first visit to goodison, wheres best to drink/park/avoid?

ericb Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 To be fair I think it's a pretty funny article. Reminds of the UI wind up pieces they used to do when they were still a fanzine No doubt one or two will get precious though. And Matt le scopey will try and bore them into submission.
Gemmel Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 This is why we must win this game. You should be banned from the forum for posting that.
fez Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Got a link? http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/63464-Everton-v-Southampton-29th-Dec-13-30
Sour Mash Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Copy and paste job, classic bitter scousers. I hope we behave exactly the same tomorrow, knowing it gets on his tits so much.
Griffo Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Funny that. Although Everton fans have just as much of a chip on their shoulder as Liverpool fans. They have an awful home support with no real standing area like we have with the Northam or even the Itchen North, and their away support tends to be sat down in the majority. Oh and I f*cking hate the accent.
Saint_clark Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Other than "Everton, eeeeeeeeeveeeeeeerton" I can't remember hearing them chant - ever.
Patrick Bateman Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/63464-Everton-v-Southampton-29th-Dec-13-30 Guess they don't like us much Isn't it just an unfunny version of Bearsy's style?
stknowle Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Christ.. Did the author's wife have an affair with a Southampton fan or something? Very personal!!! Tbf he come's across as an utter tosser regardless of the abuse and the fact it's aimed at us.
Jonnyboy Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Anyone know if this is on sky or bt sports or neither?
Ohio Saint Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Anyone know if this is on sky or bt sports or neither? I'm guessing neither as it was scheduled by agreement between the clubs, not TV. It's not on NBC for me.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 I'm guessing neither as it was scheduled by agreement between the clubs, not TV. It's not on NBC for me. all 4 teams who have the festive 2 away games play on Sunday afternoon. So I guess it's about equality of conditions concerning travelling etc.
itchen_dan Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Anyone know if this is on sky or bt sports or neither? Al Jazeera JSC HD4 / +5
St Chalet Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 It is on SuperSport 5 live, would imagine that means a few live streams.
Gemmel Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Isn't it just an unfunny version of Bearsy's style? Yep :) :)
svetigpung Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 The game is also ive in Sweden on their Viasat sports channel. Could have some streams floating around. Down t'pub then, with a good match to follow. Thats my sunday afternoon sorted then.
Saint Charlie Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 Don't think Boruc has travelled for this one.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 What about Osvaldo? Any news on him?
sandwichsaint Posted 28 December, 2013 Posted 28 December, 2013 all 4 teams who have the festive 2 away games play on Sunday afternoon. So I guess it's about equality of conditions concerning travelling etc. Wrong, 10 teams had double away games, 6 of them have played today. (Man U, Palace, Sunderland etc) ,,,,,,we jointly agreed to slip a day to Sunday .... Peter and Paul really as when we play Chelsea we will only have had 3 days (rather than 4 days if we had played today).
