Lighthouse Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 Top English scorers in the Premier League at the moment Rooney - 9 Sturridge - 9 JRod - 8 Lambert - 6 Welbeck - 5 Lallana - 4 Lampard - 4 I know JRod was pretty poor against Chile but you could say that about most of the experienced England players. I'd say the way he is playing he has earned another go against Denmark in the friendly in March. As a side note, Ashley Cole is playing his first Premier League match since 2nd November. Will Roy stick with him if he isn't playing regularly or could young Luke be in with an outside chance?
The Kraken Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 JRod has got some serious scoring to be done if he wants to get on the plane; that was an opportunity to get a tiny chance and he didn't take it. Roy has already said that there will be no more surprises in the squad, and JRod would be an enormous surprise. Not out of the question but I wouldn't think he had the slightest chance. Same reason why Luke Shaw has no chance. Kieran Gibbs is the de facto third choice LB. JRod's goal scoring form for us since the England game has, hats off, been brilliant. nta786 Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 Roy said he'd rather warm up his players for the WC games then try and test out new players. J Rod needs to get much more goals in order to get a chance. Would love for him to be off to Brazil rather than Danny Welbeck.
Batman Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 Of Lallana keeps this up. He has to go. Be stunned if not

Rodriguez is in there, just about, but will have to play very well and consistently to get himself over the line. Looking more and more like Lallana will be there, though some of his competition is returning from injury (Walcott)

Absolutely on fire since his return.
S-Clarke Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 I'm not sure Rodriguez will go, but I think something drastic will have to happen between now and may for Lallana not to be included. Best english AMC this year by a mile.

Absolutely on fire since his return. He's bloody great, one of the best in the league. England don't play to his strengths quite like Arsenal but he'd walk into my team. Fully agree. I think AL should go too. For JRod to make it there will need to be a load of injuries, unfortunately.
Lighthouse Posted 26 December, 2013 Author Share Posted 26 December, 2013 I personally see it as Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck +1 up front. The latter could go the rest of the season without scoring and still get in probably. The main candidates for the other spot would be Lambert, JRod, Defoe and Carroll and the 2 Saints lads are definitely in pole position at the moment. Andre Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 I think Lallana will be going. Rodriguez I'm not sure about, but if he keeps up this record he definitely will be! More the merrier.
Saint_Tony Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 Rodriguez has his chance and didn't take it. It gives Roy a good enough excuse not to take him, even if he scores 15-20 goals I can't see it happening. Right now Lallana is 75/25 to go and Ricke 50/
Saint Garrett Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 Lallana will go if he is fit. Lambert will go if Carroll doesn't have a good few months.
BlakeySFC Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 Welbeck, Rooney, Lambert and Sturridge are certs I'd say.
bpsaint Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 J-Rod will get another chance if he carries on at this rate I'm sure, he really needs to take it big time to go to Brazil. I reckon Lambert is already pencilled in, it would take something special from Andy Carroll to take his place IMO. Lallana just needs to carry on what he's doing and he'll be on the plane f'sure
John Boy Saint Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 I think you could say that since his call up Jay seems to have enjoyed the taste of the international life and knows (probably been told) what he has to do to get on the plane. Wiggles31 Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 Lallana will walk on the plane and if JRod carries on he'll walk on that plane. Oh wait and Lambert has a strong chance.... And Shaw. Ooops.
Torres Posted 28 December, 2013 Share Posted 28 December, 2013 Lallana will go if he is fit. Lambert will go if Carroll doesn't have a good few months. And J-Rod will not go.
Andre Posted 28 December, 2013 Share Posted 28 December, 2013 Based on current form I'd call up Jay instead of Rickie, but who knows what will happen over the second half of the season. Lallana should go for the creativity and passion. Shaw will not go, not sure why someone said that. First choice next time though!
