Smirking_Saint Posted 25 December, 2013 Share Posted 25 December, 2013 Umm why exactly wont he leave ? Firstly, Adam is exactly the player cleverley should be and Utd need right now, added to the fact Moyes has a tangiable warchest and HAS to spend to appease fans over their poor league position. I agree we are in a strong position right now but every club has a selling point and if Utd REALLY want him he will go. He will find it hard to turn down Utd too I reckon. If I were him out of all the top four Utd or Arsenal would be my only head turners. Its unlikely but certainly possible and the way he is playing we are guaranteed to have offers. Turkish Posted 25 December, 2013 Share Posted 25 December, 2013 It's hilarious the amount of people claiming there is 'no chance' of him going to Man United, like its the most ridiculous thing they've ever heard. Its Man United FFS! they might be going through a sticky patch but they are still on one the worlds biggest clubs who can offer a player champions league football, the prospect of medals and a shoe in to the England squad. Bucks Saint Posted 25 December, 2013 Share Posted 25 December, 2013 MLT stayed despite not earning much money. Lallana won't have to worry about that. It's not impossible he'd want to stay long-term despite such interest. MLT did what made him happy so hard to say it's a waste. Would have been nice for other clubs to understand just how ridiculously good he was, but glad I got to watch his whole career. This. MLT said "how much money do you need to be happy? Bewildered Posted 25 December, 2013 Share Posted 25 December, 2013 You think Lallana going to Man United it unrealistic? Not unrealistic that Lallana would want to move to United, but I would not think Cortese would sell a player like Lallana in January. Remember, there is a fairly good chance that he will be in the World Cup squad. If he gets into the team and turns in the kind performances that we see him put in for Saints, then his selling price rises sharply.

We have given Adam the best stage in the country to play on, but at best we'll finish 10th or below. We may occasionally flirt with a cup run - but the truth is we are miles off of winning anything. United on the other hand, can offer the European stage, which in turn will makes it easier to get regular world stage appearances. Cup wins? Who will win a cup first; United or Saints. AL has been an absolute legend for us, but if he wants to start to put trophy's on his CV, we are probably not the best club to be playing for. DuncanRG Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 I should point out that Man Utd can't guarantee Champions League football to anyone right now. Making the World Cup squad is possible at either club. Adam knows that Hodgson is watching him at Southampton - perform for us every week and he's on the plane. If he doesn't get regular playing time at United it won't hurt his chances too much but it won't help him. There's obviously a chance that he'll go but the lure is nothing like it would be to most players, or was to Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain etc. I'd expect another year or two from him if he keeps improving, more if he doesn't. Micky Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 I don't think cortèse will see it like that. God our supporters are negative as. No negativity here - I said - he has been an absolute legend for us. I want him to win trophys, be an FA Cup Winner, a European Cup Winner, hell, let's aim for the stars, a World Cup Winner as well. But the fact remains that he has a much better chance of doing all of these things with United, than he does with us. So I'm not negative at all - I want him to win bucketfuls of honours, but to do so, he will have to move. For those people who can't see that, or don't like it, worry not - he is a Saint, we will always have claim to him and he will always have 'Made in Soton' stamped on his ass. Which highlights why many have become disillusioned with the elite game. There seems to be a desire to look for short cuts to success, rather than work towards something, build towards it over a number of years. We seem to accept, it's only fans who are loyal, yet in some respects should we not demand more from players? Yet, can we blame them, when fans are also so quick to criticise and insult those that just try and do their best, even though we know they struggle at a certain level? Finally, the thing that annoys me about these sorts of articles and gossip is that what is the point of outlawing 'tapping up' of players, when potentially, a nod and wink, from an agent paper can start to turn heads? .... But can't seem him going anywhere for a 'mere' 15mil, when you consider he would count as home grown....
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 26 December, 2013 Share Posted 26 December, 2013 We may like to think that we 'know' our players, but it's hard to really understand what makes another Human Being 'tick' isn't it? My take is that Adam seems perfectly happy, both in his private life and his career. I dare say he is now very well payed too. Additionally he has almost certainly rejected attractive offers in the past in order to stay at the club he loves - methinks he will do so again. But that's just my interpretation and I'm no more privy to his private thoughts than any of you lot are. But I'd be very surprised to see him go. Are you seriously suggesting that Adam Lallana hasn't "built his career up over a number of years" and is only "looking for a short cut to success?". Seriously? After the service he has given us? Adam Lallana owes us nothing, and frankly is not really going to achieve much more at Saints. If he wants to move to a bigger club, good luck to him. Personally I can't see it, mainly because I don't think it is the kind of signing Moyes needs to make right now. Now Man U fan is going to be dancing in the streets if they sign Adam Lallana.
