Sensitivity about MP criticism

What is the deal with this?

Serious question. Folks are more than happy to go off about Fox, Jos and Gazzaniga being not fit to wear the shirt, not premier league level, not good enough, blah blah blah. But when it comes to our manager, he's untouchable???

This man is the primary reason for our slump, why can't we all admit to this and question his managerial ability?

This is mopo's second bad run in a short period. Think NC may react if we get a 3rd or dont end this bad run soon.

His win ratio is poor 30% (saints) 32% (espanyol) but for some reason he is rated very highly. Still has alot to prove and recent results have exposed a lot of naivity and weakness.

The pressing game is pretty but not effective or sustainable with our squad. The fact he has persisted and shown no sign of a plan B could be his downfall

Why do you keep referring to the manager as Mopo? As disrespectful as if someone referred to you as a WUM *****!

Some posters on this site do get a bit precious when they encounter dumb people talking bollocks. I don't know why they're like that, or what can be done about it really. I would just ignore them 110_Persaint if it bothers you so much.

Been noticing that a lot myself around here lately. Great to know there are always level headed folks like you around Bear! :)

Rational response: perhaps because exactly the same person was responsible for our early season crest, which had almost every single independent pundit purring about what a good side we are. A time when we beat the now league leaders at their place, amongst others. Sorry it seems so long ago.

It's not a shame that's he's gone, he's clearly a pain in the arse, but it seems like his crimes have to been to be a bit negative and quite repetitive in doing so. You could argue that NickG and others of his ilk are at the other end of that spectrum.

Again, not knowing all the facts its just how it seems. But its a shame if people are going to get banned for being too deliberately contrary, if that's what it boils down to. If its more than :toppa:

You could see what he was up to but not sure why people have to react like they do. Pretty harmless posts on a football forum at the end of the day.

Considering supporting saints is a passion / pleasure / hobby reckon being "other end of the spectrum to a negative repetitive pain in the arse " probably is a good thing ;)

We need a range of opinions on here as long as people hold them genuinely, have reasonable debate with respect where possible for other posters.

I left ground ****ed off yesterday but don't get why some seem to always look for negatives. You want players / manager / chairman to never be satisfied but wonder what some supporters expect?

Talk of players we "need", overly critical when just few weeks ago we played Arsenal away with chance to go top.

We lost silly gifted goal, Martin Keown saying Wenger would feel bit lucky as we did well , Wenger says we are good side, half time reports against Chelsea said better side, villa was just bizarre, both pellegrini & kompsny said happy with point as we were better (with 4 18 year olds) Spurs we were OK but defence under performing.

This with injuries to Boruc, Clyne, Shaw, Fonts, Schneiderlin, Wanyama - only Loren fit through out.

Enjoying season....sorry!

Should be banned for having such a sh1t pun in his name.

Didn't know him but on the basis of this thread then fair enough. I know bit Stalinist but this tedious stuff becomes so repetitive and boring. Ban more I say and shoud be a category in the voting. 'Poster who you want banned'

Ban more? Why?

I think youve missed the point. There are 50-60 regular posters on here - If those 60 were to meet daily and discuss saints there would be arguements, fights, point scoring and bickering, no different to how it plays out on here.

If you have a large group you will always get a mixture of ages, characters, opinions, views, interpretation, expectation ect ect

It seems some on here want everyone to be the same = sterile, boring, no opinion either way, "happy to have a club" ect

Thats not 'real life' mate.

For those that want just news...... read the OS or BBC, for those happy to discuss Saints with a mix of characters should stick with SWF and try not to take everything so serious.

yep but some are out to destabilise things, at present I think you are at the top of the list. You have an agenda and are turning every thread you post on in that way.

Talk of posters having agendas always makes me laugh. If anyone ever dares post an opinion that goes against the mainstream that person is always accused of having an agenda. Ever since I dared to question Lowe, Manji for one, has accused me of having an agenda (he thinks I want to take over the club). There are people in life who are only truly happy when they feel the people that rule over them are in complete control. When someone comes along and rocks the boat then panic sets in and accusations fly.

I only want what's best for my football team and if I think the people running my club are making mistakes then I will holler. I am very uncomfortable with the way football clubs are increasingly being owned by despots, lunatics, charlatans, egotists etc etc and while I don't think the fans owning their clubs is a sure fire way to success (look at the basket case just down the road), I do wish football club owners took into consideration the views of the supporters - be it over kit, safe standing, pies in the concourse whatever. Just look at the situation at Cardiff and Hull. As for Saints it has been a great ride and I am very proud we are playing good football with young kids and more coming through and are being recognised nationally for doing it, but I still can't help feeling it will one day end in tears unless a certain person develops a tad more humility and more respect for what preceded him. Happy Xmas - the sermon has endeth. And a special Happy Xmas to Manji who will choke on his cornflakes when he reads this. :)

Well said. The incandescent rage that people fly into if anyone dares to question anything that is going on at the club or have a view different to the majority is hilarious. Say something people don't want to read and you're a troll, saying something that isn't popular not the party line you have an agenda.

A good read, and agree with you.

As for the original question, I'm not aware that MP is "untouchable" and that people are over sensitive to critiscism. I have had doubts about the appointment, and on the evidence of last season saw little to convince me it was such an "upgrade". This season performances and early results have given a glimpse of what we hope for, and to that extent MP is in "credit" and most recognise the squad issues he still has with injuries.

As for it ending "in tears" , I share FF's concern that the club might overstretch in pursuit of (personal ?) glory. Peter Ridsdale being a prime example.

some are constantly accusing others of being sensitive little flowers yet know full well when antagonising and seem quite sensitive themselves of late.

My ban comment was tongue in cheek btw - posts never upset me and tbh so much ******** (and some sense) talked on here anyway. Lots of sparring but as said before many grudges held as well so seem people weigh in not necessarily objectively but die to crossing swords before.

Well said Duncan. Although manji is quite possibly the most bitter poster in m-board folklore so I'm not sure of the wisdom of such a benchmark.

the only reason they are called a troll is because you get an infraction for saying they are " a boring cunnt that no one has any interest in listening too"

not calling you a troll by the way.

Were you born yesterday? Some dewy-eyed newcomer? Opposing views are fine and welcome, even if they have no factual basis (true of positive posts). The only proviso is that views are genuinely held (like yourself).

There's a fundamental asymmetry on a mongboard where people support the same team. By definition, those who hold positive views do not set out to provoke or wind others up (or at least it's much harder to) whereas its much easier to get a reaction by being negative. And for some that becomes the raison d'être for participation on here.

Which is to say that this has nothing to do with wanting the best for the club - rather it is the precise opposite- it is to manipulate people precisely because they know people on here care so much about their club. Thats just c**tish behaviour.

So keep spouting your thousand flowers bloom or union dissent horse****, blind to this basic difference. You're not alone - the mods do the same.

Osvaldo, Shaw, Clyne, Wanyama, Boruc, etc all out. That's almost 50% of our first team injured.

Any team with that amount of their 1st team injured would struggle to win. Add into that having to play Fox, Gazza and a un-experienced right back (who will be a class player one day) and again any team would struggle.

It isn't so much of an agenda it is being realistic enough to know that if you have half your team out you are not going to be as good as you are with your full first team.

But keep on trolling Turks....

Buckle up Badger, you might enjoy the ride.

I'm sure I will. My sons have already been talking of a champions/Europa league awayday and it seems great. Just hope the 'down' on this particular roller coaster is not too bumpy or abrupt in its ending.
