Deano6 Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 Hi all, So I'm about done with all the negativity toward P!ss-Poor Gazzaniga and have decided to channel my energies into something more positive. So I have instead put together a package to introduce everyone to Southampton's new goalkeeper for the next couple of games... Ladies and Gentlemen, please will you give your warmest welcomes to Mr Cody Joseph Cropper! Age: 20 Height: 6'4 Wingspan: 6'5 Weight: 14st 5lbs Eyes: blue, dreamy Nationality: American, but eligible to play for England (and would prefer to) Cody was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and spent his early years there before moving north to Minnesota when his parents separated aged 10. He then spent his more formative years in the lovely Maple Grove suburb of the Minneapolis-St Paul metropolis. He is a fan of the Vikings (NFL) and Wild (Ice Hockey), even though he acknowledges they are both a bit rubs. He played basketball and swam at high school, and was also a very accomplished "soccer" player - which is American for "football". He actually started off as a striker and had both speed and a good touch, but then his growth spurt hit and he lost some of the pace and instead found his position between the sticks. Cody was obsessed with football, a craze his inherited from his English Dad - himself a local high school coach (this is American for sports teacher at a secondary school). The following is a short video where Cody will introduce himself to you. It was taken while he was training with American U-20 World Cup squad. In it he describes his footballing heroes - Stephen Gerrard, Frank Lampard and the Nintendo superstar brothers Mario and Luigi (2mins 20)... [video=youtube_share;LkwVQD9NPwo] I'm sure you'll all give your utmost support for the man who is spending Christmas 4,000 miles away from home, as he makes his debut in the Welsh wastelands of Cardiff this Thursday!! Don't forget, you can write your own messages of support at: @codycropper Signed, Deano6 - Cody Cropper's no1 Fan!!!
ThreeSixty Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 Watched him at the U20 WC. He's not very good.
stevy777_x Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 Watched him at The Toulon tournament and at the under 20 World Cup. Doesn't fill me with confidence, can t remember at which tournament but he dropped an absolute clanger. If it had been Gazza doing that we would be murdering him. Not the answer, we need somebody with experience who is used to playing top flight games, who is capable of challenging Boruc for his starting position. However the fact is we can't sign anyone until Jan 1st and so Cody is the man for us for the Cardiff and Everton games at the very least. We need to get right behind him and show him our full support. Here is spunky Cody tripping a Mexican after he scored past our man... Here is a video of Cody playing for Saints U-21s against Chelsea. I haven't seen it, but (SPOILER ALERT!) Saints win. Deano6 - Cody Cropper's no1 Fan!!!

Turkish Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 Americans make great keepers. Look at Stallone in Escape to Victory.
GAS Posted 24 December, 2013 Share Posted 24 December, 2013 Anyone referred to as "spunky Cody" and trips up a very cheerful Mexican, gets my vote.
Deano6 Posted 25 December, 2013 Author Share Posted 25 December, 2013 Below is a video of Cody Cropper asking his sweetheart Beth Ipson to the prom, back in 2010... She said YES!! Merry Christmas y'all! Deano6 - Cody Cropper's no1 Fan!!!
david in sweden Posted 25 December, 2013 Share Posted 25 December, 2013 unfortunately.....with the rotation of goalies he's been between the posts in the U21's three worst defeats...coincidence? For a 20 year old, 6' 4" keeper who's ALREADY over 14 stone (!).... I think he 's carrying too much weight. What size will be be in 2-3 years ? It wouldn't matter so much if he had a bit more pace, but he has to be able to carry his own body weight , and he clearly can't move so quickly. Might be a good prospect (?), but he must do something to stabilise his body size.

Deano6 Posted 5 April, 2014 Author Share Posted 5 April, 2014 Give him a go next game, I reckon. You remained inexperienced until you're given a bit of experience. Deano6 - Cody Cropper's no1 Fan!!!
S-Clarke Posted 5 April, 2014 Share Posted 5 April, 2014 He's not going to be worse than Paulo, that's pretty much a given. So on that basis, he can become our backup.
Minty Posted 5 April, 2014 Share Posted 5 April, 2014 Thing is, we all generally trust MoPo and his team with the squad decisions and if they genuinely thought Cropper was better, he would've played. I hope Cropper has potential to be with us for many years, I've never yet seen him play so cannot comment. I suspect Gazza has similar confidence issues as Bialkowski... both showed potential but are very fragile, and not really up to the test of the Premier League IMO. Deano6 - Cody Cropper's no1 Fan!!! Correct.......but the sort of experience needed to be good enough at this level comes from a season loan-out at lower league level in order to see if you can handle that...... Nigel Adkins' big mistake was thinking the (1)Championship-level KD was good enough for the Prem. and (2) that Gazzaniga would be a good back-up for him. Neither assumption was correct. david in sweden Posted 6 April, 2014 Share Posted 6 April, 2014 Why do you think he's fourth choice? ....perhaps because we've tried the other three already
