Tom28 Posted 22 December, 2013 Share Posted 22 December, 2013 Lots of posts tonight that are player bashing so thought I'd break the trend. Thought the young lad looked very lively when he came on. He's clearly a unit and can play the target man role, and he showed that with a couple of nice lay offs to keep the play flowing. He was also looking to play off the shoulder on a few occasions too and was found by a good pass from Lallana which created an opening for him. Although he didn't convert, anyone watching him warm up pre-game will know he has a hell of a shot on him. Given Lamberts abject performance again (he must be carrying an injury) I'd be tempted to give Gallagher the start at Cardiff if Osvaldo isn't back. Lallana's Left Peg Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 Not sure he is ready to start in the league but he appears to be one of those mobile big men that are all the rage right now. Seen him play for the u18's a lot and he can physically impose himself on the game and make an impact - although that is easier against kids of his own age. Saw him at Sunderland and Newcastle and he liked to put himself about, and also he got stuck into Dawson within about 10 second of coming on today which I loved - very confident guy. His run for his chance when Lallana played him in was also very intelligent. Might be worth a shout against Burnley if our strikers need a rest. CanadaSaint Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 If he can consistently demonstrate the art of timing his run to beat offside, as he did once today, he could become quite a striker.
david in sweden Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 Some of his performances for U18s have looked impressive. Of course, there is a decided difference in pace in the Prem., but he looks a good prospect and will undoubtedly score goals when given more playing time. shurlock Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 Time will tell. Either way would rather we have other attacking options on the bench when chasing a game.
Lazlo78 Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 Compared to other youth strikers we've tried over the years he definitely has a physical advantage - I'm expecting good things from this lad...

Lazlo78 Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 whatever happened to Isgrove? Loan, injury, lupus or some other mystery illness?. Maybe he's waiting in the wings?.... Sorry about that... Too much competition for midfield places that are not tailored to traditional wingers like Isgrove, Rowe, Puncheon etc.? Too much competition for midfield places that are not tailored to traditional wingers like Isgrove, Rowe, Puncheon etc.? but he was being built up to being such a big star and now doesn't even get near the bench even when we're scraping the barrel, I suppose he has no defensive attributes. Surely a 15 minute run out when we're chasing games couldn't be so bad. Must admit to not having seen him on the galleries and videos of late. Injured may be. 70's Mike Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 Dawson thought he would welcome him to the premier league, just bounced off him.
Badger Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 Dawson thought he would welcome him to the premier league' date=' just bounced off him.[/quote'] I always thought Dawson was a bit of a stick insect as a CB so that does not surprise me. What happened to the good old days of proper centre halves ? McGrath, Ron Yeats, even Neil Ruddock ? Be more impressive if he "bounced" one of them. Leicestersaint Posted 23 December, 2013 Share Posted 23 December, 2013 Very promising and let's all wish him well. He may yet make a big impact this season.
