Not fit to wear our shirt

9-3

They're not good enough. But we don't have any genuine replacement options for them. Yoshida perhaps for Hooiveld, although his performance against Villa was error strewn. Fox and Gazza are the best options we have at the moment, which is a sad indictment but a necessary fact.

Personally I'd rather see Yoshida in there but as you say we've got what we've got and whilst they're not up to the required standard they're not going out of their way to let the team down intentionally. Hopefully the glaring deficiencies in our squad will get addressed in the coming weeks.

Jos Hooiveld was one of our best players in our promotion season from the Championship and Danny Fox has played a big part as well. They have both helped to rebuild the reputation of our shirt.

Paulo Gazzaniga has an entire career ahead of him in which all kinds of things may happen.

While the 3 players in question are not perhaps good enough to continue 'wearing the shirt', I think that the term 'not fit to wear the shirt' implies an attitudinal, even moral failure on their parts. That would be both unfair and untrue, they have tried their bests but their respective bests have not been good enough.

If his clumsiness and poor tactical awareness weren't bad enough, Hooiveld's atittude when trying to clear the ball before the 3rd goal was poor. He just seemed to walk into Soldado with no conviction whatsoever, his attempt to attack the ball was ridiculous.

That 2nd goal was also reminiscent of Fulham at home last year. Why is he in that postion anyway??

The shame is he will probably cost any team who might be interested a fortune compared to what he is worth and so will stay on until the end of his contract.

The realistic ones on here have said this for a year and yet we get pelters for it, after a bad performance the clappers get on the bandwagon, the thing is there is more disappointment with us as opposed to anger, no we told you so's, no we were and are right and you are wrong, simply the players we have regardless of manager wont achieve the goals set out by Cortese.

Can't believe you posted this! I laughed cos the skates were saying this yesterday and couldn't believe they'd turn against their team. However, you've taken the biscuit. We can do without supporters like you tbh. Go support the skates

This.

With a man in charge like NC do you really think that any player wouldn't try his best?

Just because they don't seem to be playing at the high standard demanded by some

supporters doesn't mean that they should be vilified on a football forum.

God it must be hell for those perfect people on here having to live with mere mortals.

I agree but that does not stop him being **** and not up to the standard does it?

Gazza, Hoov, Fox

Enough is enough.

Very harsh mate, it's not like we have a load of players that are over paid and don't give a damm (QPR last season springs to mind) unfortunately we have a few injures in Key positions and the stand ins just aren't up to it, that's the managements fault for not getting replacements in the summer in.

For starting this thread, you sir.... are scum.

Fox and Jos have come up with this club from the championship, winning us promotion and playing vital roles in getting us back into the prem (not least Jos scoring against west ham!)...

They then gave there all last season when we were having a tough time, and this year they are ready to make the effort when called upon.... Fox in fact did a great run and pass to set up lallana.

They may not be good enough for where we want to be.... but to come up with crap like "they are not fit to wear the shirt".... christ. You literally disgust me.

As for Gazza, he is young and learning.... Nice to know that we are slamming twenty year old keepers for giving their best for the team. He was against a side that cost in excess of £100m today, he has less than 20 top flight games and 1 season of league 2 football... But he is deemed to be "unfit to wear the shirt".... you are an utter disgrace.

Way over the top, hysterical post on players who have, in general, served us well on our climb. They don't need 'support' like this!

Not fit to buy a ticket perhaps?

I am pleasantly surprised that this by far is the prevailing attitude towards the OP and the players in question. This thread could have been a disaster, but reading the responses cheered me up.

OK so Hoovield was not great yesterday ... but this is same player that was more than good enough at league leaders Arsenal !!

I hope Father Christams brings you some new bed sheets!

I think one change in our habitual back 5 is fairly easy to accomodate, 2 is a bit more dicey and 4 out of 5 is just rank difficult.

I seem to remember that Fox had a reasonable game against Swansea but then he had, Clyne,Boruc,Fonte and Lovren with him. Jos wasn't bad at Arsenal but with 4 of the other regulars. It's these mass changes that are causing the problem, most teams can play with one passenger most of the time.

I was at the Swansea game. Fox was a liability and Lovren and Boruc stopped passing to him just after half time as he kept giving the ball away.

Agree about the number of changes. We can accommodate 1 change, but having both regular full backs, one CB and goalkepper out was always going to be tricky. What gets me is the media bigging up Adebayor yesterday. He had a good game was up against Fox, and was always going to win that one. Similar to the West Brom game last season when Lukako stood against Fox.

I think that it just proved that our squad is not yet strong enough in all areas to break into the top 8, although the full strength team on their day can beat anyone.

What a stupid post.

One is a very young goalkeeper who is learning his trade, is third choice and unluckily for us is the best we've got at the moment. The other two got us promoted and are pretty good as back-up squad players - again at the moment, we just happen to have to play both of them due to injuries which is unfortunate.

Shaw is learning from Fox too, so he does have a role (see his recent interview).

Some "fans" are so short-sighted.

Love it when someone takes the words right out of my mouth.

9-3 your post would be more worthwhile if it had substance, but it doesnt. who would you have played in their places ? given the injuries we have had of late,

I will not get on the backs of players not my style but I was not happy with some of our defensive frailities yesterday

Would Hoovield have scored an og if gazza had been more assertive or was it just an unluck rebound that went in, should our right sided players have closed down the spuds player sooner.

Their third goal was the result of a luck rebound against one of our players that fell niceley for adebyola , I thought when we equalised we would go on to win , but defensively we seemed to capitulate much to easily.

When is Boruc due back ? or even Kelvin , he was sat on the bench yesterday. what is actually wrong with him?
