Meteor Shower this weekend?

Hi to all skywatchers.

 

Someone told me the other day to expect an amazing meteor shower sometime this weekend, around 100 an hour at it's peak!

 

I can't for the life of me remember when he said it was due. I have googled it but keep getting results of one in August.

 

Please could someone put me out of my misery?

The next meteor shower is the Geminids in the evening of December 13, 2008. A gibbous Moon will overpower all but the brightest meteors.

About 3.30am, earlier this week, I got up to go to the toilet, and when I came back to bed, I took a look out of the window, before climbing in. I looked up into the clear sky, and immediately a meteor burned itself out directly in front of my gaze.

 

Now that's timing..!

CF, I had to read that a couple of times before realising just how funny it actually was LOL. Bearing in mind what **** week I have had it was a freakily apt offer.

i swear i saw a shooting star last week at 22:10 and that was before I started drinking

I saw two shooting stars last night, I wished on them but they were only satellites, it's wrong to wish on space hardware......

Last year I took my then ten year old son to Whitehill in August and we saw about 20 shooting stars. I think we saw the Persids. Anyway, he was thrilled. I thought we'd be on our own up there but there must have been 30 people at any one time.
